there's blender 3d that's free. and since many use it, there's tutorials you can find online and forums. its best to read/watch the tutorials on the blender3d site, once you install it.
Have you seen the video by kniveswood, "Transforming 2D into 3D? It's pretty good although I know you're going for a complete 3D model in the end and they weren't. I just saw it and thought of this video. Keep em coming I miss Jill already (or is it Laura Woods, I always get them confused).
good job, I always wished I was good at animation, I still might try to get into it this late in the game anyway
