  • this is so awkward, the audience is so creepy and silent O_O it must be reeeeeaaalllly uncomfortable for them to be up there ...

  • Nina is absolutely beautiful. I wanna look something like her.

  • I wish I could see any of her plays but Toronto is kinda far

  • The body is just an illusory reflection of light and doesn't even exist!

  • @paulod27 but still it needs sustanance, and if the body is in a state of non existence, then our food and indeed everything must be nonexistent, so we our nothing but independandt thought moving in between reflections of light. Yet matter does exist, because there has to be something for the light to be reflected by. And it's pointless to say we don't exist, because then we wouldn't be using our fingers to type in words for eachother to read over the internet. Our bodies do exist and so do we.

  • Would smash

  • It's as interesting as it is annoying.

  • She doesn't have bad ideas or interesting concepts, but they could use some distillation.

  • "Performer of" ? What?

  • She is one of the most daring individual i have ever listened to, and her speech is eye opening!

  • That words against their detractors show her own ignorance and totally desire keeping blindness about what is true and what is not. If she wants to reply the arguments of others about what their research she should find o make their own and prove her right. Sorry , but any other thing is bullshit.

  • I like her,. but in America the reason for altering ones gender was to be, only if the candidate could completely fit into society, distancing yourself from the gay community. Today however anyone can fool doctors, but Nina is about Art, and I am inspired by her.

  • @ldyreal I don't know if I agree with this, because I am an American transsexual (FTM) as it were and have no desire to conform to heteronormative society or to distance myself from the gay community in that I desire to be openly trans and to advocate for the rights of the LGB. Nonetheless, this speech was very poignant and I felt mentally penetrated. :)

  • @ldyreal That is pretty stupid. Trans and gay are two different things. Where do you get your facts, the gay community of the 1950s?

  • both intellectually and emotionally there has not been nor is there a more articulate, erudite advocate for the transgendered community. And only a few who are as honest and seem to "get it". Nina totally nails the so called experts and their reasons and motivations for their self serving, narrow minded opinions on a state of being they can never hope to understand or comprehend.

and oh yeah, Morrigan070671 sounds like a pompas ass

  • yes yes, the sublime truth in ALL of it's complicated-ness.

i could not figure it out before, but i really like the idea of NOT being here to make peoples lives less complicated.

nina arsenault and julia serano are my heros !

  • This was profound for me:)

  • Not to speak ill of Ms. Arsenault, but I have some doubts about her speaking abilities. I can understand why she was chosen to give this particular talk - a transsexual person who retained her male genitalia, and could therfore speak about how the presence of those organs affects or doesn't affect the personal concept of maleness or femaleness - but I wonder, both intellectually and emotionally, if a more erudite advocate for the transgendered community could have been found?

  • @Morrigan070671 I really don't think that Nina's Focus is to be the "Poster Girl" for male-female transgendered people over the world, and she explains this through this talk. She is not a "traditional" transgender and she accepts that, but going along with that she is also a feminist and an extremely powerful one at that.

  • Much admiration for Miss Nina. :)
