@hydrolythe I'm sorry, but I do not know that game and if you read my previous statements you'll see why I said what I did and that's because of the fact that Zelda OoT had a really interesting platform, easy to hard sidequests (getting into Zelda's Castle was extremely hard in daylight for me, but collecting the Poe Spirits was easy) and the fact that nearly everyone loved it means that it's a pretty good game. As long as it's not OP rated (I don't think OoT is much), then it's not overrated.
FF7, I can understand that you can call it overrated for the story or characters. But the battle system? It is really is designed as hack and slash there are tons and tons of rpgs created that way as that is what rpgs usually are to make the fights more fair. it is turn based

Also, turn based rpg's are not always fair. I think that those that focus you on certain strategies to beat opponents (like ff4: The After Years) or those that gives the opponents unfair advantages but give you the ability to dodge its attacks (like the Mario & Luigi series) are fairer.

You do realize that that "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" you put up on your list as #2 has actually been called one of the greatest games (of that time) ever made. If you're wondering why it got so popular is because compared to the other games at that time (no offense to anyone who loved any other game during that time even more than Zelda OoT) it was probably the most realistic at the time. @infantryhawk It's still rated just so so that it's not overrated, I mean if it was 10.5/10 then of course it's overrated, but 10/10 is a just number for that game. That game had what no other game had. Not only that, but it had so many side quests that you can play for days and still not 100% complete the game, people want a bang for their buck and Zelda OoT provided that so they were content and satisfied, games nowadays generally (not all) promote their company and don't last that long.
@infantryhawk I couldn't fit this in the other one (ran out of characters), but it took me a LOT longer to beat OoT than it did for any other Zelda game I played (all but the old old ones and Skyward Sword), I beat the others in like 3-5 days (twilight princess was a 2.5 day one on GC), Zelda OoT took me 2 weeks+, new games don't have that old game effect that the old games had and some of the old games don't last as long, which makes Zelda OoT a perfect candidate to be the best game ever.

I honestly think you are wrong about Super Metroid. Your argument against it was "super mario allstars has FOUR good games on it, so it has to be the best!" But no mario game has the replay value, emotion, and just flat out genius level design the Super Metroid had. Super Metroid is easily the best game on the snes, and up there with the best games ever made.
I suppose there is no way it could compare in emotion, but still... 5 classic mario games together I personally do believe have more reply value than any individual game on snes. Not that Super Metroid isn't great and repayable, but I've beat each one of those marios more times than I can count.

When I made this, CoD wasn't nearly as popular. It was before Black ops, before Mod3... Just Mod2. And honestly, back then, Halo was able to compete with that, so neither really ruled the genera, causing both to be equally attacked. Of course, the situation has changed now, and I'd consider adding it during a remake.

Infinite tm's were a bad choice because it gave each team a great amount of power moves to choose from. Before, good TM's were extremely scarce, and even fewer were obtainable more than once. It made you have to think a bit to get any good team for multiplayer. Now you can just jack up your team on similar steroid like TM's and laugh as you crush every helpless little pokemon and trainer.

I don't think MarioKart deserves to be here. Just because it broke the standard racing genre mold and used powerups you think it's overrated? That's unfair. Halo is over rated, halo 4,5 and 6 were anounced at e3 2011. And its a first person shooter so there is alot of fans for any shooter. Angry birds is a game you can get it on pc @2:02 you say "its more of a power up game than a actual racing game" and in pokemon black and white each pokemon got a good amount of moves added to their move pool, move that they didnt have before and since tm's are now infinate plus the hm's theres enough moves to choose from.

@infantryhawk Are you aware of IVs? EVs? Breeding mechanics, varying movepools, natures, etc. There are so many things to experiment with and aim for that make almost every pokemon and therefore the experience in using that pokemon unique. Personally, I think that Pokemon's battle mechanics are far more varied yet easier to understand than most rpgs. Older ones are easier to understand, but not as varied.
@x54xHantamachine I'm sure I'm aware of the ev/ivs, but lets be real here. I am NOT familiar with their acronyms. Even then, many of the moves are recycled game to game and don't change as much as they should unless you're willing to do stupid things for TM's (Even then... The amount of TMs you can get duplicates of is limited.) And natures and such, you can't change those now, can you?
@infantryhawk In the newest Pokemon games, tm uses are unlimited (finally). They include loads of new moves every gen that tend to be game changing in some way or another, and anyways, since when do any rpgs change their moves a ton from game to game?
Natures can be swayed by certain methods. When breeding, everstone makes the egg have a 50% chance of mimicking parent's. A pokemon with the ability synchronize makes wild pokemon have a 50% chance of having the same nature as synchronize pokemon.

That's a major flaw in RPG's... You DON'T switch moves a lot. Although there are a few gems out there, such as monster rancher where you get all sorts of moves.
Still, it's just a chance to get the right nature. a lot of the formula still comes down to luck.

The unlimited tms are incredibly useful, but I agree, are tailored more towards making hella good teams (like for competitive play). I admit to being a fanboy, but you have to admit I make a few good points. I mostly like pokemon because it's unlike a lot of other rpgs in that instead of having a small amount of party members to choose from, you have hundreds that are widely varying.

While grinding IS a staple, it's different because you actually have to catch/hatch the Pokemon in order to check it's nature. You generally just obtain an item, and sell if it's not what you're looking for, but here you actually have to catch one which can fill up your boxes with repeats quick if you don't like releasing.
I dont think Mario Kart is overated, yeah its very popular but I don't hear that much about it compared to those other games you lsited. Final Fantasy is considered the 2nd best game series of all time. And Pokemon is just addicting, I dont care for the new ones though, they're unoriginal.

Anyway. During the early days of 2010, the shooter problem had not spread as far as it had. It was only to mod 2 and was nowhere near as severe. Back then I received no complaints. I guess times have changed.

*PART 2* Pokemon, is NOT overrated, it's just fun, awesome, boring at some parts, challenging, original (except the GBC Tetris game, and the battles) and overall, just fun to play in general. Any game on the Wii that has "Wii" in it are the launch titles for the console and come with the system (depends on what color you get I think) and a lot of launch titles are awesome, so I see your point. Madden is VERY overrated, but not as overrated as FIFA. And about OOT, well, it deserves to be Or'd.

Just wanted to say that not all "Wii" titles are launch. Wii fit or music, for example. And I think even sports isn't, but I'm not sure.

Your list is pretty impressive. But I do have a few things to criticize you about. First of all, The new Sonic games are UNDERRATED. 2006 get's more shit than it really should, Unleashed deserves all the hate it gets. Colors is NOT under OR overrated, it deserves the 8.5 it gets. Final Fantasy is very underrated because of 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 14 being the games where the shit really hits the fan. I'm not saying 7, 8, and 10 is bad, there awesome but there not perfect.

Pokemon is cool, but that depends on the player. The newer sonic games since sonic Heroes and shadow the hedgehog suck very badly. They should continue the sonic adventure series. And yes LoZ OoT is an amazing game but is very over rated. Skyward sword blows OoT away...

You do realize that that "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" you put up on your list as #2 has actually been called one of the greatest games (of that time) ever made. If you're wondering why it got so popular is because compared to the other games at that time (no offense to anyone who loved any other game during that time even more than Zelda OoT) it was probably the most realistic at the time. @infantryhawk It's still rated just so so that it's not overrated, I mean if it was 10.5/10 then of course it's overrated, but 10/10 is a just number for that game. That game had what no other game had. Not only that, but it had so many side quests that you can play for days and still not 100% complete the game, people want a bang for their buck and Zelda OoT provided that so they were content and satisfied, games nowadays generally (not all) promote their company and don't last that long.

@infantryhawk I couldn't fit this in the other one (ran out of characters), but it took me a LOT longer to beat OoT than it did for any other Zelda game I played (all but the old old ones and Skyward Sword), I beat the others in like 3-5 days (twilight princess was a 2.5 day one on GC), Zelda OoT took me 2 weeks+, new games don't have that old game effect that the old games had and some of the old games don't last as long, which makes Zelda OoT a perfect candidate to be the best game ever.

When I made this, CoD wasn't nearly as popular. It was before Black ops, before Mod3... Just Mod2. And honestly, back then, Halo was able to compete with that, so neither really ruled the genera, causing both to be equally attacked. Infinite tm's were a bad choice because it gave each team a great amount of power moves to choose from. Before, good TM's were extremely scarce, and even fewer were obtainable more than once. It made you have to think a bit to get any good team for multiplayer. Now you can just jack up your team on similar steroid like TM's and laugh as you crush every helpless little pokemon and trainer.

Halo is over rated, halo 4,5 and 6 were anounced at e3 2011. And its a first person shooter so there is alot of fans for any shooter. Angry birds is a game you can get it on pc @2:02 you say "its more of a power up game than a actual racing game" and in pokemon black and white each pokemon got a good amount of moves added to their move pool, move that they didnt have before and since tm's are now infinate plus the hm's theres enough moves to choose from.

@infantryhawk Are you aware of IVs? EVs? Breeding mechanics, varying movepools, natures, etc. There are so many things to experiment with and aim for that make almost every pokemon and therefore the experience in using that pokemon unique. Personally, I think that Pokemon's battle mechanics are far more varied yet easier to understand than most rpgs. Older ones are easier to understand, but not as varied.

@infantryhawk In the newest Pokemon games, tm uses are unlimited (finally). They include loads of new moves every gen that tend to be game changing in some way or another, and anyways, since when do any rpgs change their moves a ton from game to game?
Natures can be swayed by certain methods. When breeding, everstone makes the egg have a 50% chance of mimicking parent's. A pokemon with the ability synchronize makes wild pokemon have a 50% chance of having the same nature as synchronize pokemon.

That's a major flaw in RPG's... You DON'T switch moves a lot. Although there are a few gems out there, such as monster rancher where you get all sorts of moves.
Still, it's just a chance to get the right nature. a lot of the formula still comes down to luck.

The unlimited tms are incredibly useful, but I agree, are tailored more towards making hella good teams (like for competitive play). I admit to being a fanboy, but you have to admit I make a few good points. I mostly like pokemon because it's unlike a lot of other rpgs in that instead of having a small amount of party members to choose from, you have hundreds that are widely varying.

While grinding IS a staple, it's different because you actually have to catch/hatch the Pokemon in order to check it's nature. You generally just obtain an item, and sell if it's not what you're looking for, but here you actually have to catch one which can fill up your boxes with repeats quick if you don't like releasing.

*PART 2* Pokemon, is NOT overrated, it's just fun, awesome, boring at some parts, challenging, original (except the GBC Tetris game, and the battles) and overall, just fun to play in general. Any game on the Wii that has "Wii" in it are the launch titles for the console and come with the system (depends on what color you get I think) and a lot of launch titles are awesome, so I see your point. Your list is pretty impressive. But I do have a few things to criticize you about. First of all, The new Sonic games are UNDERRATED. 2006 get's more shit than it really should, Unleashed deserves all the hate it gets. Colors is NOT under OR overrated, it deserves the 8.5 it gets. Final Fantasy is very underrated because of 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 14 being the games where the shit really hits the fan. I'm not saying 7, 8, and 10 is bad, there awesome but there not perfect.

Some constructive criticism: It seemed as though you had a lot of flamebait choices, preceded by the "this is going to make people rage" line before slapping a highly successful game or franchise up there. You complained more about people saying "the best game ever" instead of telling us why you thought the game was overrated. I wanted to hear what problems you had with Octrana more than you complaining of people liking it. You being tired of hearing the praise doesn't make a game overrated.

@Infantryhawk2 So you don't like people blindly praising the game. That's fine, as no one should be just blindly praising the game. They should have some sort of reason behind the statement. But you said that they were overrated, which means you found something wrong with the game that not many others saw that would lower your score of the game to below what other reviewers would have their score as. There's a difference!

Pokemon is cool, but that depends on the player. The newer sonic games since sonic Heroes and shadow the hedgehog suck very badly. They should continue the sonic adventure series. And yes LoZ OoT is an amazing game but is very over rated. Skyward sword blows OoT away...
