  • wait he is a legend though... really ever since i was a kid i wondered who is he? a

  • Bonnet is far better.

  • still sings is brilliantly, shame i cant say the same about Graham Bonnet now

  • clearly he now performs a version of the Rainbow version, rather than his original

  • What can you say about Russ Ballard? He's a really good guitarist, a great singer, and a great songwriter. He deserves a spot in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame much more than many people who are there.

  • Graham Bonnet added some new dimension too in this song. Russ and him are friends and russ is writing a song for Alcatrazz!!

  • He learned his lesson from Rainbow. The song needed more electric guitar and less cow bell.

Just goes to show the original composer doesn't always know what's the best use of his own material.

  • You know fuck all.

  • Your Gibberish-to-English dictionary needs an upgrade.

  • Hey there, thanks for sticking up for our guy:) You are the best.

  • Swan xoxoxo the comment I made lower down was meant for you. Really, many thanks for sticking up for Russ. Honestly I have never found ANYBODY's version of HIS songs to be better than his own. That includes this song played here as well as Argent's "LIAR"...maybe America did a strong job with "You Can Do Magic" but then Russ never recorded the song himself did he? You are the best man, never mind the bullocks!

    xoxoxo

  • Ewan, sorry not SWAN< typo gueen maybe should be my name here...

  • I've seen comments on here praising Russ's version of the song, and Rainbows and Head Easts and also even Clouts version. They are all very good in their own right, but without Russ's definitive version, none of them would have existed, which is why Russ's version has to be counted as the most important version, and more than arguably the best. Nobody really made their versions that much different from the one Russ made first.

  • @Dyynamo now aint that the TRUTH :)

  • Russ wasn't in Rainbow.

  • Duh...obviously.

The guitar lick in this live version is patterned after Blackmore's reworking of the song for Rainbow's 1979 cowbell-free cover.

  • still sounding great:)

  • russ rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! voices !!!

  • Thanks for the lovely video's, hopefully you enjoyed yourself, we are enjoying these,

    xoxo
