  • thank you this is perfect!

  • soo niceE

  • Cool fact!! Maikos (Geisha's in training) would only paint their upper lip. When they were a full-term Geishas, they would paint both lips ;D

  • @KHLover1234 It was the bottom lip, actually.

  • do u pronounce the brand nyx nicks or N Y X??

  • @CFishize Nicks. It's from Nyx, the goddess of night in Greek mythology.

  • i so requested a geisha look in one of your new videos cuz i ddnt see this one on your uploads hahaha how silly huh LOL sorry

    XXXO Cilla

  • wow u r sooooooo talented its like u r doing art on ur eyes/face

  • great work

  • lol did anyone els put this on mute?

  • The red pigment they used is called beni...it's extracted from the safflower in a lengthy, detailed process and is quite expensive.

  • Beautiful! So easy to follow.

  • Oh my god sparkly red!

  • The history and origin is very important so thanks so much for including that. Major props too, this style looks great!

  • you are so talented.

i wonder if i'll ever be able to have as much makeup as you do.

i would dare to be creative if only i had the resources.

  • geishas.. are actually like.. prostitutes.. there called "the master pleasers"

  • @darksoul2992 Oh well. Who really cares?

  • @Cleopatraofelko maybe she doesn't want to walk around as a japanese whore for halloween? everyone should know what they really are.

  • @darksoul2992 They only slept with men if the money was tight. They usually hosted at tea houses and such.

  • @darksoul2992 There remains some confusion about the nature of the geisha profession. Geisha are regarded as prostitutes by many non-Japanese. However, legitimate geisha do not engage in paid sex with clients. Their purpose is to entertain their customer, be it by dancing, reciting verse, playing musical instruments, or engaging in light conversation. Geisha engagements may include flirting with men and playful innuendos; however, clients know that nothing more can be expected. (from website)

  • @Plasencia09 ah i thought they just did sexual stuff. thanks for the info! my apologies everyone.

  • @darksoul2992 didn't realize there was a whole thread going here...it' all good :)

  • This looks great. I'm gonna look for a Geisha costume for halloween ( doesn't hurt that my fiancee thinks it's hot, LOL)

  • @klosch84 you knwo geishas are whores right?

  • @darksoul2992 uum...yeah...it's a costume...not a career aspiration.

  • amazing!

  • amazing!

  • pretty. thank you so much i wanted to learn how to do the geisha makeup but i didnt want the apply the makeup the old fashion.

  • suckage

  • Omg I love it!! you always look amazing!! i have used alot of yours for partys!

  • You hvae a very long nose:?

  • beautiful make up hun,but too much talking :(

  • I'm just wondering, would some sorts of glue like... Smudge the red eyeshadow O_O ? But yeah I love this tutorial, I tried it and it's real amazing.. Keep up the great work ^^ x

  • u look different...can u pls add a video like which products r u use and how much$ they r?

  • sorry u talk to much

  • O_O u are amaaaaazing O_O

  • In the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" they show many of the techniques and ways they applied their makeup in the 1920's as you said in this video. What you said was very accurate. :) The movie is amazing, I highly recommend it. I love the movie a lot. :) Great video btw MissChievous! Loved the tutorial! :)♥

  • a dramatic red lip and a heart shaped beauty mark could make this a great queen of hearts look too...great look!

  • @vampvixenluna13 She does her own interpretations of looks, and she said many times that she's not doing anything traditional in this video. It's great that you know so much about Japanese culture but you should also be more humble. Personally, I love this look. No, it's not traditional, but it doesn't need to be.

  • @Yudamori you're right, but vampvixen wanted to show, she read “Memoirs of a Geisha“, and well she showed that she have a listening problem because Chevious said "a modern interpretation" because the original IS NOT PRACTICAL, beautiful but not practical...

  • YES. Someone has some intelligence (Y)

  • @vampvixenluna13 she did say this was "a modern interpretation" So she knows this isn't the real geisha makeup tutorial.

  • @vampvixenluna13 didn't you hear? this isn't the actual geisha look-.- such an ignorant

  • I lovelovelove this tutorial and its result!!

I'm definitely going to try this at home!..as soon as I get eyelash glue ;O

  • Not to sound horrible, but ur eyebrows are way too far apart. if you want your face to seem to fit better then you should line ur eyebrows with you nose. it will make u look a whole lot better :)

  • OMG thank u for this, i have not been able to find anything in this style that i liked.yeaaa!

  • wow, awesome, Im a fan of yours after viewing 3 vids today! Thanks!

  • I learned about Ben Nye's products from your tutorial and I'm so glad that I tried them! Thanks for sharing your creativity with YouTube.

  • hey, I can use the ben nye magicake in Black as the liner right? i don't have to specifically buy the cake liner? Just use a thin brush, I'm assuming?

ALSO, is Ben Nye hard to remove? What should be used as a makeup remover? I mean would cold cream not be strong enough??

  • Thank you for Sharing this with us ^ ^

  • I like the modern take but geisha's did actually paint both their lips =/ I had researched them for my own make-up/photography project, and found that it was the ripoff geisha's from after the war who wore their lips like this.

  • I absolutely love your channel!! I've really enjoyed the different looks you explored. Thank you so much, and I look forward to your new videos!!!

  • felt like i was at school in social studies, yet it was cool cause it was about makeup:D

  • 1:17

    **mwah!**

  • You look absolutely stunning in each and every look. You should work for movies industry or theater. You are so talented.

  • @GirlieFrenchie youre kidding I assume.

  • @CassieAnnaCary wow harsh shes really talented and is really pretty

  • i love the lips

  • :) such a good look, thanks for the tutorial! I am sure i will use that look one day.

Just want to say something really weird, at some points you look like my mum... not by the makeup just by the way you look 8O

  • i like the modern twist on the traditional Geisha makeup. I am dressing up like a Geisha...and going to try to get your look...thanks for the tips. I would like to see more of your makeup videos.

  • I'm going as a traditional Maiko for halloween so the start of this video was a great help :)

  • Hey my gf is gonna be The Mad Hatter girl for Halloween. Any ideas on how to do her make up? Her costume colors are TORQUISE and PURPLE. :]

  • your skin is so pretty :]

  • Love it! You are oh so talented with the makeup!

  • very informative and very pretty! thank you :)

  • Not resembling a geisha at all actually, not even a modern interpretation, but I do enjoy your look alot. Very exoctic.

  • Absolutely gorgeous & creative! I am going to rock this out for Halloween w/ my Geisha costume.

Any suggestions for a good inexpensive red eye shadow? I have cupcake cult red from Hot Topic but it's comes out too pink. I use red very rarely.

Btw, I have used loose thick glitter like this carelessly many times with no glue w/o any problems. I think it just depends on your comfort level with makeup and what you will be doing. Sweating and playing in the rain is obviously not ideal. XD

  • Really good! Thank you!

  • umm geisha girls paint the mid section of bothlips with a puckered look

  • Ummm, She SAID in the beginning it was a modern interpretation, NOT the traditional makeup.

  • i realy like it!!^^

its pretty, and i think i'm gonna steal the idea of the glue and the glitters..

    becouse i use instandstick glitters..

and in a few hours it falls off..

    but about the lips :P

they only paint 1 lip red when they are a Maiko,

when they are Geisha they make both lips red!! xD

  • whats the name of the intro song

  • wow

    pretty

  • Very pretty! ^_^

I love the makeup and it really looks nice on you! I'm soo jelous (lol)

    Jaa mata ne! xoxo

  • sooooo niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • love it! it's gorgeous! =)

  • How do you take all this pretty stuff off without the problem of the glitter winding up in the eyes for those who are worried about having glitter by the eyes?

  • she uses eye safe glitter. glitter specially made for the eyes. its broken down into smaller grounds then regular arts in craft glitter is.

  • I was just wondering, what type of tape are you using??

  • what was the name of those lashes?

    i can't read it.

  • very interesting for masquerade

    thanks:)

  • He descubierto tus videos por casualidad y me encantan!!!Eres realmente buena maquillando.Un saludo desde Spain.

  • i followed ur instructions (i had to do a play thingy) AND IT WORKED GREAT^^

i love this and thank yu for teaching me how!

  • wow dis make up is sooo prettyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Miko is pronounced as Me-koh

  • not mykow

  • She's referring to "maiko" (apprentice geisha) in the video. Miko works in a shrine.

  • Dont mind Saori094 im also japanese and i love how you did your makeup, i want to do mine like that too but i dont have right colors. ):

(My friends on my account because she's too lazy to sign onto hers, Lol. I'm actually American and tanned skin to be clear. But, I love how you did the makeup too!!)

she insisted on typing that lol =P

(Because if I didn't they would be like "You're not ASIAN!" and I'll be like " I never said I was!!" and I'll be all confused & stuff. xD )

    Lol good job! <3

  • can you only bye ben nye from the catalog?

  • omg :x this is amazing

  • Du bist sooo schön, deine Augenfarbe ist der Hammer!!!

  • I love this look

  • I didn't know that the way the lips were painted indicated the maiko, or geishas status. That's very good to know! Great video!

  • i like it..

  • well even if it ismordan gaisha make up... i cant like it coz im japanese... but i always think you are really amazing make up artist <3

  • this vid is awesome... and really helpful

  • That's amazing.

  • i love this look

  • the lips look gorgeous.

  • I like!

  • how do you make your skin so flawless? do you use any primer before applying your foundation?

  • I look at you and think 'makeup is so fun'

  • The harsh lines by the nose of your bridge made your face look rounder and your eyes farther apart...

  • I really enjoyed this video and even the info at the begining. I love Historical Japanese, and Geshia are a huge part of Japanese history.

I loved the video, great job!

  • I love this make up technique! You do amazing make up! <3 I'm gonna use it for my photoshoot this sunday except I'm gonna use purple eyeshadow instead of red! Were doing a creative geisha pin up shoot!

  • I love this look....you do really great make-up but I truly love the Japanese culture and this look is wonderful.

  • I loved this so much, but could you please do the videos without cuts? I mean I'd want to see how you make youself up, the entire scene, without cuts, just like other youtubers do, so we can follow how you're doing it since the beginning until the end . thanks, I love your videos! :-)

  • bueno.... pero sigue los pasos visuales :)

  • Unique anad i love it ---

  • The world of the geishas is magic, in my opinion! I like very much this look, it reminds me of Memoirs of a Geisha! (not for the colours themselves, but for the theme ^-^) GREAT!

  • i love your eyebrows and the colors of the eyeshadow is AMAZING!!! love the glitter!!!

  • PRETTY!!

    looks great...wanna try it out....

  • your lips look so fantastic

  • beautiful look!

  • Also, i can see that the vid kind of skipped through alot of the important stuff..but i think u may ave been running out of time too..which is probably why that happened,..lol..

Btw, was that the dupe 187 from CS..or the badger brush they have..couldn't tell ...Thanks...! The foundation in this was flawless too..hard to believe it was Revlon..!~ :D:D

  • I can't seem to find any Ben Nye products..that deliver to Canada..sucky..I especially like that palette..:(

    WOOOOOOOW

I LOVE the red on the lid :)

  • Very nice. you are very talented!

  • nice :)

  • It's just an expression...

  • looks great! but could you tell me how to get all the glitter and glue off the sensitive eye area again?

  • Wow I love all your looks beautiful

  • Wow! Love the vid - just subscribed. Really great information and the look is fabulous.

  • the powder they use is rice powder, they had to change it to that because they used to use lead. after they learned it wass poison they changed what they used for main foundation

  • Looks more like kabuki make up. Good job though

  • why did they put the nude color on the bottom lip? so it can look like they have no lips and a red stash (sp?)

  • thats how the geisha did it, and they would put just a little red sliver for the beginner geikos, and when they were full grown women they would color it, she just made it her own =D

  • that was wonderfully informative, like the history of the geisha make-up lovely

  • si una geisha c pintara asi seria una verguensa D:

  • yeah

'ai' is said like 'eye' so

    my-ko

  • Really pretty and creative. I am subscribing!!

  • LOVE the eyeliner!

How long does it take for the liner to dry?

  • actually, the most common lip design for geisha was to have only the bottom lip painted.

  • Well, she informed us that either the top or bottom would work.

It would look just dandy either way.

  • what an amazing look! thanks for doing this.

Please do more! they are beautiful.

  • Mikos? thats pronounced Meee Ko :D

  • it's actually "pronounced" my-ko but it's spelled maiko (i think)

  • Ah well i speak some Japanese you see which is why I was asking

  • You are correct ;)

The Japanese sound 'ma' () is said like the first part of 'man', its a short sound. The 'i' is actually said like the 'ee' in 'sheep'. Then (more obviously) ko is simply a short sound like in 'koi fish'. (said: ko-ee). So it's mah-ee-ko. But when said at normal speaking speed, the 'ah' sound is lost (not as easy to spot), and the ee-ko becomes a smoother/more blended sound.

  • WOW

  • i think if it was more of a natural look that everyone wanted to wear for like a normal day, the red should be on the oopisite u know? but its purdeee and i like it but i would wear it diferently

  • This is gorgeous! You are very talented!

  • I like it

  • I think you are very skilled in Geisha makeup more than Japanese maiko makeover studio staffs...

  • that's soo fun

  • ohh so helpfull that tip about the tape 2 remove the glitters! thnx alot!

  • Thank you so much for the information that you shared about geisha. Ever since the movie/book Memoirs of a Geisha was released, people started to think they were prostitutes and now hold a wrong image about the culture. I am so glad you mentioned about Maiko because they are technically the ones with a higher status than a geisha. Many believe they are all low class and mock these women. I find it offending when the majority see this. Thank you, and you did a wonderful job recreating this look.

  • I love your intro music :P

  • plz tell me.....which foundation do u use coz ur skin looks flawless.... thankx

  • If you look in the sidebar you can see all of the products that she used ^_____^

Revlon Colorstay foundation in Ivory was the foundation she used :]

  • the lips look great

  • This is such a wonderful makeup
