i wonder, if these people who are trading the physical commodities are watching or analyzing the charts for these commodities. I trade gold futures and I use a chart to tell when professionals are buying or selling the commodity. Trying to play this game without having a road map is a sure way to lose your shorts.Im not a fan of holding the actual metals bc its much easier to liquidate
people will always pay a certain premium for precious metals or for any other commodity for that matter. Its for profit! nothing to do with the other stuff. Why cant I get coffee, or rice at spot price, because there is overhead. I can get silver anywhere, even in my hometown, people are selling silver rounds and bars a couple bucks over spot. People are gathering info and using it as their own. don't fall for this trip. just buy at lowest price when you can. dont buy this emergency crap
@NYWAORCANZ If you buy 100 oz's of silver and it goes up only $1 then you're making a huge loss because the margin between the Bid/Ask price is very wide. You would need a modest % increase just to break even. As the price continues to rise (and there will be corrections) there is no reason to suggest that the margin will not widen further, so you'll need substantial rises to see a reasonable profit.
ok , I am guessing if your hundred oz bar made a jump of $1 then if you were to foolishly sell it base on that alone ,perhaps the profit would be from 60 to 90 dollars instead of exactly 100

@Avidcomp You have to shop around but for example if the spot price of silver is $33 and you buy direct from the Perth mint they'll sell at $45, obviously the margin will improve if you buy large contracts. If you know of anyone that would sell at the spot price I'd like to know who they are. In short as soon as you purchase you're running at a loss and only a substantial % increase gets you to break even. I still think it's a good long term bet.

@marketermatt agreed... this is a fact for all stocks on the market - but the argument is not about what silver ETF's go for.. it's about the shorting (Banks, etc.) have been doing to manipulate the price of Ag on the market for profit. Ultimately the debasing of the USD means any ETF in USD are devaluing accordingly... your stocks are dropping in 'value' with the debasement of US fiat currency. Physical silver is an avenue to preserve wealth through possession of a physical item of value.

when i buy mine i do it with intent to hold it. my lowest buy was 18 my highest buy was 29. recently we had a pull back to 26 i missed that due to order error but got it at 27.
@Nkatsikanis heres what i would do. wait for a small pull back because we just had a sharp breakout it will come down. or buy some now (i avoid coins due to the aditional premiums and buy the bars) andget a small amount 1-10 oz maybe even 5 oz just to start a position and buy more around it. the further it falls back buy larger amounts. this 32 run up may be due to the 3 day weekend....

I did not wait to load up on silver. Thank goodness I bought all I could back when it dropped down to around 9.00 bucks. I am still buying and will continue to buy for a long time. The price of silver is going to explode much, much higher then it is today in the near and long term future. Silver anywhere below 75.00 is a huge bargain. It will correct at some point, but who knows at what price, 25, 28, 32, 50 who knows. It doesn't matter, I am buying now at whatever price it is at the time.

I trade gold futures and I use a chart to tell when professionals are buying or selling the commodity. @NYWAORCANZ If you buy 100 oz's of silver and it goes up only $1 then you're making a huge loss because the margin between the Bid/Ask price is very wide. You would need a modest % increase just to break even. As the price continues to rise (and there will be corrections) there is no reason to suggest that the margin will not widen further, so you'll need substantial rises to see a reasonable profit.

@Avidcomp You have to shop around but for example if the spot price of silver is $33 and you buy direct from the Perth mint they'll sell at $45, obviously the margin will improve if you buy large contracts. If you know of anyone that would sell at the spot price I'd like to know who they are. In short as soon as you purchase you're running at a loss and only a substantial % increase gets you to break even. I still think it's a good long term bet.

@marketermatt agreed... this is a fact for all stocks on the market - but the argument is not about what silver ETF's go for.. it's about the shorting (Banks, etc.) have been doing to manipulate the price of Ag on the market for profit. Ultimately the debasing of the USD means any ETF in USD are devaluing accordingly... your stocks are dropping in 'value' with the debasement of US fiat currency. Physical silver is an avenue to preserve wealth through possession of a physical item of value.

when i buy mine i do it with intent to hold it. my lowest buy was 18 my highest buy was 29. recently we had a pull back to 26 i missed that due to order error but got it at 27.

@Nkatsikanis heres what i would do. wait for a small pull back because we just had a sharp breakout it will come down. or buy some now (i avoid coins due to the aditional premiums and buy the bars) andget a small amount 1-10 oz maybe even 5 oz just to start a position and buy more around it. the further it falls back buy larger amounts. this 32 run up may be due to the 3 day weekend....

@Nkatsikanis also when you buy know your reason for doing so. mine is a bet against the dollar and the monetary policies in place. with the mess its in i see no functional way it can be reversed with out a new currency. i could care less about the jpm manipulation. i foresee a severe crash and everything will go down big including gold and silver. buy all you can at that point if your currency is still good cuz it will ramp back up as hyper inflation is fully realised.

Gold and silver are the real international currency and always have been. Put your dollars in the bank so I can keep borrowing them. At $17 I'm loading up on more silver.I hope you don't save them. The best thing you can do with dollars is to borrow them and buy real things.

Ive heard from someone famous whos very pro silver that he expects at some time in future it will be knocked down as much as 50% or more - but that could be AFTER it doubles again - so he ignores short term price - just buy ASAP and long term it should be at least $80, probably $150 and maybe $500

I did not wait to load up on silver. Thank goodness I bought all I could back when it dropped down to around 9.00 bucks. I am still buying and will continue to buy for a long time. The price of silver is going to explode much, much higher then it is today in the near and long term future. Silver anywhere below 75.00 is a huge bargain. It will correct at some point, but who knows at what price, 25, 28, 32, 50 who knows. It doesn't matter, I am buying now at whatever price it is at the time.

@endlessmountain well, the real value of silver is manipulated, as many banks say they have X amount when they really don't, so I guess it is still a buy right now at 24? I think silver longs are a sure bet at any price right mow... So you recommend loading up or waiting for a price reduction? I was hoping it would stay around the low 20s for a year or 2, did not think it would explode so soon.. :+(
