I was honestly not hip to Sarah Jarosz until I got the copy of Acoustic Guitar where she graces the cover. So I streamed some stuff online and holy crap ... this lady is the real deal. You have to respect a multi-instrumentalist, particularly if you have only one instrumental skill. But she is genuinely musical. Her arrangements of other people's music -- as we can see here -- are beautiful. I find myself thinking of my hero Robben Ford and how he can others' songs and make them sing ...

@prestonjoeyoung It's a 'guitar' bodied Octave Mandolin (tuned an octave below a standard mandolin). Great sound (good voice as well).

@Lpitt56 I believe it is an octave mandolin. My friend Fletcher Brock, from Ketchum, Idaho and Seattle crafts these gorgeous instruments. I know that Sarah J. owns at least one of his, and this is most likely one of them, although I am not certain. You can see these and other beautiful stringed instruments at Fletcher Brock.com.
