  • What a treat to hear these old Samoan songs. I'm an afatasi that was born here in the US, but was sentt back to Samoa (American & Western) every summer when growing up. My Grandma made sure my Brother & I knew where we came from. Even though I don't speak Samoan, these words talk to me. The traditions, the love & respect that were taught to us will never be forgotten. Faafetai Tele Lava for sharing these very special songs with all of us!!

  • Wow, real Samoan style. No keyboards, just the Samoan style of singing and the beat of the pate or fala. And that is how it is done; not like many fake Samoan performances today that use modern instruments, and where people sing and dance like they're doing the hokey-pokey.

  • @SamoanT100

I couldn't forget this beautiful song, so I looked for the lyrics - which isn't an easy feat for an Austrian :P ... but eventually I found them and now also the actual record. Astonishing!

  • Miss the old style. Too many beat machines and keyboards now-a-days! Back when I was a kid the only instruments they needed was they clapping, 2 sticks, and a empty can of masi!! We need to bring that back!!

  • @91b1p You're almost right about everything, exept about the 'apa masi. Actually, the pate or the fala are original Samoan instruments, not the 'apa masi - which also needs to be done away with. As long as all those clowns out there use Western instruments for traditional dances, I will never listen to them.
