I've had a lot of comments I've had to delete so let me say 1. You won't take over this comment page like you did that basketball game. I know your tactics. That's not happening. 2. There's no reason why the university should have to molly coddle you. I mention just taking out examples and making it "all persons" which covers all. 3. You shouldn't be "singing for your lives." What threats? Contact the police if someone threatens you. You need no special laws. Battery and assault are illegal. Press charges. That's pretty elementary. Yes they can. Every single man or woman in the U.S. has a legal right to enter into a voluntary contract/covenant of marriage with any other single person of the opposite sex.

What they can't do is change the meaning of the word "marriage" to include such a contract/covenant between individuals of the same sex, because, of course, the word "marriage" excludes such by definition, just as I can't be an emu, since, by definition, the word "emu" excludes humans.

The word marriage has multiple definitions in the dictionary. Here in Canada we have gay marriage, and yes, it is called "marriage".

A lot of what is being argued by the gay community is not even the word, but that in the US they are being denied certain rights. Civil unions are not equal.

And while a lot of those voters probably agree that everyone should have the same rights no matter what you call your union, why on earth should anyone care what people want to call their relationship?

Being a Canadian at this point in history means that I am very equal to everyone else. But for my friends in the US, they still can't get married because there's almost theocracy-lite going on at the political level.

And the others, well, there are a lot of career politicians and they want to get re-elected. How about standing up for what you really believe in instead of trying to get elected one million times.
