No, the spider only attacks when they feel their prey is timid. Cats aren't timid in the least with spiders, in fact the opposite. Cats hunt vermin and insects. A cat would disect the tarantulas legs then eat the body whole using its sharp teeth. I've seen it before, pretty gross stuff. :/
