Many people don't know that Jimi was one hell of a bitchin' R&B rhythm player...shaped his guitar playing in a big way. That work he did on Don Covay's Mercy Mercy was brilliant. When you listen close, there is a lot going on there..that little bell like tone he gets, rakes and those groovy little slides in and out of chords. Nothing else quite like it.
Great Playing! - It's so nice to hear the guitar on this song clearly. As far as I know there are 2 live Hendrix recordings of this great song. One at the Flamingo Club (U.K.) which is complete, but poor quality. There is one from Sweden, better quality, but it cuts out early.
I think, it was the first tune with Hendrix on guitar, I heard, and Covay was singing, or someone else. I lost the take many years ago- it was a live-take!, so I played this from my memory...
Hatte mal eine Aufnahme mit Hendrix an der Gitarre (da bin ich mir ziemlich sicher), kann sie dummerweise nicht mehr finden. Hab auch bei youtube nichts gefunden. Schade.
Thanks for mentioning Don Covay- of cause he wrote the song- but I was looking for an early Hendrix appearance and an early demonstration of his special kind of playing guitar. Do you know a recording of this tune with Jimi and Don (live) on CD?
hendrix lives in you man!! nicely done big up to you great playing

Really well done. But needs to be played faster with a more driving beat and rawer louder to sound like Jimi. He really attacks those strings.

You should do lessons on Hendrix's early work, it really shows some of his creativity blossoming.

Thank you for your interest. Sorry, no tabs or notes.
The tune is not complete. I had a recording (with Hendrix on guitar?) some years ago, but I lost it.
I wish, somebody would know more about this tune.
