My fave scene also. I love Dynasty but you do have to laugh at it's artificiality. It's hilarious - they have to use several edits to cover the ageing Blake ascending the stairs and then it's obviously a stunt guy rushing at Joanie at the end. Then massive cut to a pair of hands gently around Joanie's neck so as not to smudge any of the 3 feet thick make-up or knock off her wig. Only mis-hit is Alexis's use of the word tramp, which the English use differently. She'd have said slut or tart.

Blake & Krystle were a beautiful couple; moreover, Blake & Krystle did not deserve to be kicked out of their house by that eveil-ass Alexis. Futhermore, Alexis deserved to get the shit kicked and chocked out of her. Blake was a good noble man, and Krystle was the perfect complemenet to him in that role. Which just goes to show, behind every successful man, there is a good woman.

When I met Joan Collins in London at her book signing, I asked her to write out the line that she says to Blake at the top of the stairs. I thought it was a great line from the show but she didn't seem to remember it as fondly as I did....LOL

Oh well.....I thought it was the ultimate power struggle between Blake and Alexis!!

I wonder if this stunt precaution was at Joans insistence or whether John just didn't want to tempt fate....?

@StreathamG Yes..this scene was originally scripted to be much more violent but Joan is not a physical actress (she also has complained of back issues) and at her insistence the scene was scaled back slightly.

I love the way Alexis has a single sheet of paper giving her title to all Blake's holdings. I remember when Blake gets everything back from her in the next season, the papers are about two pages. These people have very efficient and very concise lawyers!

In the following episode, Blake continues to choke Alexis, but then Ben belts him and knocks him unconsious, and Krystal tries choking Alexis instead, who sprays her eyes with perfume, and then cuts off all of her hair! Alexis and Ben then dump Blake and Crystal in a N.B.M. (Now Broke Millionaires) dumpster!

The body double is way too obvious, but I just love the look on Alexis' face when Blake runs toward her and she backs away - this was a Joan Collins stock in trade expression and it's fabulous.

What;s interesting is this scene was originally scripted to be more violent but Joan said no due to her percieved physical limitations. From what I have been told there was no stunt double that day, though I agree it certainly looks like someone else on the landing. Because the scene required closeups of Joan the original scirpt was modified to fit Joan's capabilities. Interestingly, both gowns worn by J&L were auctioned off on Ebay a couple of yrs ago.

I've heard that before but to me that makes no sense. You ask for a double to do what is the briefest clip in the sequence but not for the rest of the scene? If Joan did say this then I would think it was more for fodder than reality. Joan has a habit of saying things that stretch reality. Like claiming she was knocked out briefly during the lillypond catfight when nobody else there remembers such an incident.

In Greg Kinnear Show she said a double was used for her and John Forsythe. Kinnear asked was that such a big deal "get my stunt double." Joan laughed and said, "I've got a delicate neck, what can I say?!"

There has been sone question as to wether Joan did this scene or not. On the set the afternoon of filming was a network photographer who documented parts of the filming. He and an ASP executive both said Joan did the entire scene herself. Interestingly the scene was supposed to be more violent but Joan would not do it claiming back and neck issues could be agravated. The scene as originally scripted Joan simly would not do and a stunt double the director thought would eb too obvious.
