  • I can't say that I prefer this version to the Reinhold version, but I will say that I had goosebumps from about 3:30 all the way to the end. Pretty epic.

  • I have narcolepsy and i can trully relate to the sound of this song... and that what makes it sooo beautiful.Since now it is as inspiration to me to " translate" my condition in artistic expressions.

  • People don't seem to like the song with the orchestra, but I thought it sounded awesome. The look of pure bliss on Ben's face at 3:51 is just awesome. And then the drop right after that to Ben's soft vocals and his piano was perfect.

I prefer the original track, but this was awesome either way.

  • 3:54 is so epic

  • This song was just good on the album. With the orchestra it's chilling.

  • 3:31

    His face makes my life.

  • Piano is drowned out. Def better w/o the orchestra.

  • @dcawmiller Yeah, I would say that it's a bit over-scored too. But it's a lovely idea.

  • AND vocal solo by Daniel Tosh

  • ROCK THIS BITCH, so fucking beautiful

  • I've never listened to this song before, but for some reason i know every word? :S

  • Shut up orchestra! I want to hear ben! haha OMG, when is he doing another concert with the WASO??? I live in WA and I want to go!!!!

  • Ain't rockin the suburbs no more.

  • Does anyone else hat these arrangements? I seem to be the only one. I just think he should've done it like it sounded on the record. But Ben's still brilliant.

  • @bringyourownslinky yeah i am sorta on the fence about it. Ben just on the piano is perfect, i dont think the orchestra really adds to it, in fact it sorta takes away from the over all charisma that Ben typically has when playing

  • @christiaannobels Worth it, though, to hear the orchestral Rock This Bitch. :P

  • @bringyourownslinky lol.. then why not just listen to the record... /facepalm... these arrangements are amazing.. and who said it drowns out the piano? clean out your ears..

  • i wonder how often he breaks piano strings

  • When did this concert take place? And the backup singer looks like he really doesn't like Ben Folds music...

  • I think this song is awesome with or without an orchestra but seriously that backup singer is annoying. Don't people cry at the opera? His voice has that sound yet there's no emotion in it. I liked everything else.

  • Who darest poketh the orchestra 'dragon'. I think Ben does, and lives with it nicely :-)

  • in some partes it reminds me to silverchairs...diorama....=) love it to my bones

  • Holy sh*t. That was amazing.

  • fucking brilliant

  • this song is awesome..but the only bad part to me is when the trumpets blare near the beginning

  • Ben Folds, master of the uber-fast 16th note 6ths!... I think those are 6ths. Actually, don't listen to me. Just listen to Ben. Okay.

  • Non sono stanco=i'm not tired

  • oh man, i think i just jizzed from the sheer amount of awesomeness

  • @tichyha

    Honestly, best comment ever!

  • I absolutely adore this song. I adore Ben Folds' song-writing and piano talent, I adore whoever decided to put this song with a symphony orchestra -- there is absolutely NOTHING I dislike about this video. I cannot convey how impressed I am with this. Stunning.

  • this song is straight up captivating.

  • This is absolutely surreal.

  • Beautiful Noise very Wilson-esque :)

  • This is incredible. I wish I could be in his shoes, watching his song turned into an orchestral masterpiece

  • im 37 i discovered ben about 4 years ago, and he changed my life with his lyrics and somtimes quirky out look on life. i have never said this about any man. but i love this bloke. one of the greatest song writers of this century. keep going ben never stop.

    scott

  • WOW! What an amazing version of this song!

  • thank you Ben for making so many beautiful and amazing songs..

    I LOVE YOU!!!!]

    :)

  • this is a class song, I don't understand how ben can write songs as amazing as this, he's like a modern day mozart, just much different music.

  • The people that transcribed his "piano band that rocks" into orchestral music deserve a lot of the credit.

  • ever since i was a little kid, the verse starting at 2:57 has always given me goosebumps

  • @haunch1 Me too, so much.

  • @haunch1 That verse does the same for me, though I didn't discover it until I was in high school. This is the one song I have ever heard that makes me explode with goosebumps every time at the same instant: "Save me, wake me up!"

  • i looove this. ben is so magical in this, i lvoe the opera too

  • Amazazing! I especially loved the opera addition.

  • One of my all time favorite Ben Folds masterpieces as is...and they added brass, among other things, I can die happy now.

  • Sleep would be nice.

  • This is Phenomenal!!! There is so much emotion pouring out of this masterpiece that is gives me goosebumps.

  • Does anyone know if you can purchase this concert?

  • You can buy the DVD on Amazon.

  • what a voice!

  • This just gave me ultra goosebumps... an astounding rendition of "Narcolepsy".

  • from a person with N: epic depiction - musical hallucination - I'm floored at how incredibly well Narcolepsy comes through in this piece. MY lord, Ben Folds, you MUST it have to render it so perfectly The xylophones were a nice and unexpected touch. The sole piano - the way you play - THANKS

  • It's probably when he writes his music. Only way to explain how genius they are!

  • amazing, briliant, genius! i love ben folds!

  • haha this is so weird but its so epic and awesome...Ben Folds for President!

  • i love this song!!! our social studies teacher showed us it!!! lol. love it

  • I commend your Social Studies teacher, then.

Ah, to be in either middle school or high school again. Just think, 5 years from now, you probably won't even remember the Jonas Brothers.

  • yea ok? lol

  • whos your ss teacher

  • The tenor...? "the tenor" in fact is benfodls one of the greatest musicians of our time.

  • I think he meant the dude who joined/bumbled along with Folds towards the end.

  • Yeah, that accompanying singer was...not that great. He seemed to get a little flat when he had to harmonize.

Ah well, the dude's obviously a professional tenor, which is a bit of a jump from a part originally just meant to be performed by Darren and Robert.

  • he seemed flat because he was supposed to be flat to create a contrast between them. didn't you notice how when the orchestra picked up they were flat, and seemed more dull while folds was sharp which made his part seem lighter and happier? its like that to create a sort of contrast which is reaallly hard to make sound good, but they did it really well.

  • @Sprocketman

I may be wrong, and I'll not try second-guessing Ben's and the orchestra's ideas but I think the general idea was some dis-harmony, and they certainly acheive that! Maybe think of it from an artistic level.

  • cant stand the tenor, but the song and the orchestration are wonderful.

  • yeah, it's a bit out of place, but otherwise beautiful

  • Simply beautiful.

  • My breath is taken away.

  • I love how completely under-dressed Ben is on stage with the orchestra. This man is a musical genius!

  • @indeeddesign I don't see the connection.

  • amazing! pure and simple. This is how I think it was supposed to be recorded!

  • Epic. Simply epic.

    Who arranged this?

  • I think he said on Rove WASO did all the arrangements, not sure though.

  • I get to see him finally on April 2nd. I'm excited!

  • hey dude, just thought i'd say that my name also happens to be caleb mayo (weird, right?) and that i also think ben folds is amazing. coincidence? no, because he's amazing.

  • Still on the fence a bit here...will give it a few more listens. Some bits are breathtaking/fantastic, some seem tacked on - when the orchestra enters it's as if someone has spliced a different film in! Not sure about the other singer either. Maybe it's just that I have been compulsively listening to the original for 8 years!

  • Awsome. I never heard this version until viewing it here. Thanks.

  • Thanks for putting this up!

  • I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very well done.
