I put a wep key on my linksys befw11s4 router and now it wont get pass the password when I enter it, it say windows is not able to connect. how can I fix it? I also tried 'hard resetting' it nothing
Even with DD-WRT, the overclocking and the Wireless Gain, mine still doesn't get hot. Even with my P2P constantly on... not enough. If i had more then 20 users, i certainly wouldnt be using a WRT54G router... A Linksys WRT54G are made for End Users with less then 10 computers in mind... "The Typical End User" not the gamer, downloader in mind.
@thetruejay20 You have an Ethernet-to-HDMI, hook it up to your TV or monitor, update your firmware to Windows Vista or 7, install 3DMark Vantage and run it. It sure does run really fast, plays Crysis at highest settings at 90 fps, supports DX11 and OpenGL 4.1, and anyone can access my Internet from over 2000 kms away. If you live in or near Ontario, Canada, find "OC'd Linksys World Record." It will ask for a password, so type in liquid. It's faster than 100tbps.
I had my WRT54GL liquid nitrogen cooled; it's running 98 degrees Celsius. I added a V8 on it and it still overheated to something like 400 degrees.
If anyone wants to use my Internet, enter anywhere in Ontario and you'll see "OC'd Linksys World Record" on your phone or laptop. Password is "liquid". 3DMark Vantage score on Extreme = 134565; respond if your router has a higher score.
i did somthink like that but insted of me putting it on my router i put it on the back of my pc computer case to brighten it up abit lol i think it's a sucksess so what that person did their was a good idea WELL DONE!!! o and i must say SORRY about my spelling i have dyslexia so i find it hard to spell. sorry.
### He put the fan from the computer tower on top of the linksys box. Duh.
He overclocked the broadcom cpu via dd-wrt. Still unless theres a hole cut out on top of the box putting the fan on top is like putting your car radiator in your trunk? Lol
I flashed my router the day I got it and have loved it's excellent up time. That is until I bumped up the clock speed and then it would stop working mid afternoon every day. Long story short I did the fan mod and have had zero problems. Mine is pulling air.
I know your comment is 3 months old, but the reason why people add fans is because when you run custom firmware like DD-WRT and increase the transmission power, the router can get very hot, so adding a fan is important.
Using unofficial firmwares on it allows you to overclock it making it faster and the range farther. One downside to this is that it may get really hot and can burn up if it stays too hot for too long.
@ResidentG33k because if u got a E2,000 with 2 ps3 5 computer + 20 more user sharing the network works it ass off im a network admin i have a fan on mine much cooler runs 2x faster on cooler air the hot air hot still air make it like ~~~~~~~~~~ nothing an much just freezes sometimes an to much packets also freezes net works also
Hey, it seems you have done a very nice job overclocking that nice Linksys router. I have the same model and I wondered if you could please do a short tutorial of "How to install a fan", or could you in any way just tell me where to solder the fan power leads. Thanks in advance.
out, i added a aluminum heatsink and put it over the processor with some thermo-silicon and now runs a little over 300Mhz. I used an Old Intel Pentium MMX processor fan and i make some holes on the back of the router and opened a little on the bottom this way the fan will extract and the air will pass throw the heatsink, i tested with a cigarrete smoke to see the direction of the wind hehe.
thanks i looked everywhere and it seemed that most people do it so it can suck air out. i did this mod like a month ago. perfect for dd-wrt firmware. now it doesnt glitch up at all anymore.
Oops sorry about the last post you dont connect it to the serial ports you sorder both the power cables to the power outlet sorder points on the back of the board.
How could a LED fan melt down? Neon maybe, but LED? I have burned a few LED's out and they did not even get hot :S Sorry to hear about your friends router, but I doubt it was the LED's on the fan.
my router just lit up like a 40 year old toaster with a braided fabric cord! i wish i had seen this video before my home burned to the ground because i over-cranked my box with firmware patches. crap.

Is it better to put the fan inside the router?
And the fan is extract the air out from the router rather than pump the air into the router from top, because as you know that hot air go upward.
nananese 2 years ago
yeah but it's actually a good idea to put it inside but not to pump the air inside it's better if u pump it out side!!!

But why, Why would you put a Fan on a Linksys Router? Not even my WRT's get hot enough that i'd need a fan..

Is it fair to say, use a voltmeter to determine which solder points are positive and ground?
nappyheadedhobitch 3 years ago
I wonder if the power source is the same as the routers.
And if magnetical fields may interrupt the signals of the router just a little.

yes, and for this mod isnt necesary using a big fan as the video, with a small one will do the work and is less noiser.

Theres two 10-pin connecters on the mother board its self providing two serial interfaces - (E.g. a fan)
