  • Ur videos are so helpful thankx

  • Good video

  • nice music choice and nice tie dye.

  • The WORST thing any tie dye instruction videos can do is to show you adding dye to a shirt and then showing a totally different shirt as the finished product!! Even I, as a beginner, know that NO 2 shirts are going to be alike so I want to see the one I spent time watching you adding dye to so I can see how that came out, not one "similar" to it. A big waste of time if you ask me because you do beautiful work!!!

  • @cardsbytootsie

    Sorry about that one.

The design is still the same idea, just not exact colour.

I suppose, even what you see here is not what you will duplicate when attempting... so the idea of the vid is to show how to get that particular design, not the exact match. True words though...

Happy dying! (and thanks for watching).

  • love the second one

  • if you want to make a tie dye t shirt with say those colors, but you dont want them as dark and deep, what should i do? should i add a little more water to the dye??

  • would it work with food coloring?

  • @LgGerminator no lol i tried it the other day it sucks

  • try camo colors? :D that could be cool. also did you use yellow red black and blue?

  • I did my shirt last weekend this way. I wasn't really good with tie-dye to begin with. I did it pretty much exactly how you told me and it came out great. I had people asking me if I got it done professionaly. Thank you for the video!

  • what kind of dye do you use?and does the shirt have to be wet at the beggining or could it be dry?? thanks for the tutorial anyway!

  • @jackrapper555

These are Procion MX dyes - great for cotton. Other dyes like RIT or Dylon are ok, but not nearly as bright.

The material is damp - like spin dry in the wash machine.

  • so after u wash it u dry it in the dryer machine thingy or do u hang it up to dry????

  • @tayaroxsox1998

I usually hang mine after the first wash only. After that I use the dryer.

I suppose the better you treat the shirt, the longer it will last...

  • so after u put it in the bag for a while u take it out and rinse it and then wash and dry it?

  • @tayaroxsox1998

Yes... these dyes work with time or with heat. I let them sit in the bag two days minimum (some go only one day)... then I rinse in the sink - and then into the wash (cold water).

  • When I dye I unfold/untwist before I rinse, is that not the right way? Also we let them dry before we wash. Are these improper techniques?

  • I do not really think there is a "propper way" to dye. There are so many techniques and styles and ideas...

As long as you are getting the result you want, that is what matters most.

I have never let mine dry before washing, but there is no reason not to do that. It is an each to there own for Tie Dye (no matter what anyone says).

  • i use a fork to spin the shirt...its really great when u don't have a big work space, but i always get great results.

i tried this pattern today- worked really well! thanks for posting this video!

  • @midnightmover884 using a fork is a really good idea, thanks!

  • Yeah Dispatch! Open Up is a great song!

  • here is a tip 4 spinning the shirt-use tweezers to pinch down and then spin the shirt that way

    u r welcome

  • Nice one. Cheers...

  • hahaha...i like how he walks around the table to twist the shirt. :)

  • Yes... many comments on that.

It is just how I have always done it... but any way to make the shirt spin works great.

I like the table spin for speed, control and the ease... but each to their own.

  • I have a half silk half cotton vest that Is all white that I'd like to make all blue. What type of dye should I use ? Can I dye Silk?

  • You can dye silk, but it is quite a bit harder than cotton.

"Procion H" is a dye used for silk... what I am using here is Procion MX for cotton.

I am not sure how well a silk/cotton blend would dye... definately you want to find the right dye type.

  • I noticed the T-shirt is dry when you start. Did you soak it in Soda Ash, and let it dry?

  • No, it is damp.

It may have appeared that way, but I always use a damp shirt that has been soaked in Soda Ash and then spun in the final wash cycle.

  • allrighty. thanks man. love ya work.

  • WOW!!! Thanks for the wonderful idea.I'll try it out some time for sure!!!
