@kk456128 - It's just to give the lightning arc a safe ground. There's a wire all the way from the lightning rod to the bottom of the foundation. All skyscrapers have at least one lightning rod. If they didn't have one the lightning arc would go after the electrical wiring in the building, which would damage and possibly set on fire pretty much anything that's plugged into an outlet in the building.

what is the point of the lightning rod? is it to take the power from the lightning and use its resources or just protect other buildings?

@hbnm03 theres a lightning rod on the building to attract lightning, thats why it strikes there more than once.
