Konami has gravitated towards making supercards at a high cost, so that richbois can "get their game on". Where I live, good cards cost around $20 - $40 each. @lifes40123 Au contraire, my friend. Xyz Monsters (not Exceed) would be a step-up, since most of their UBEReffects depend on detaching overlapped monsters. No monsters to detach, no effect. Also, they difficult things up as well. Xyz-material monsters are placed below the Xyz, therefore, they won't go to the Graveyard, meaning less Special Summons.

I mean you can build a good deck with only old school cards: Summon Skull, Labyrinth Wall, Nightmare Wheel etc. Sure with current monsters, especially Synchro, it is easier to summon high level monsters but that's what card effects such as D.D. Warrior/Assailant and Penguin Warrior are for. Then there are trap cards such as Nightmare Wheel and Mask of Destruction. So at the end it's not necessary all about high attack power, so I believe old school deck can still rule over new decks
i wish they would bring back the old yugioh and air it on 4kidstv.... remaster the whole thing first so it can fit a widescreen tv with good graphics....if they air it from the start again it gives them 1 more chance to reproduce all the retro packs not to mention edit their card sets if they want.... i think that would be awesome....thumbs up if u agree
Ah... I remember the days when I used to play Yugioh. I was in fourth grade and I spent so long trading with friends and kids at school until I finally obtained one of those conterfiet Exodia cards. At the time I thought they were real O_o. Brings back so many memories :)

So my friends mixed some old school cards (I run a Dark Magician/Synchro/Spell Counter deck) and some new cards and I love that deck. I also run a whole brand new Fortune Lady Deck.
Back in the day, the level 4 1900 attack = Gemini Elf = Secret Rare and stupid hard to get. I have an old skoo deck (before LOD set) that I play with a couple friends that is build around Cyber-Stein, Blue Eyes Ultimate, and Megamorph, haha.

Actually Back Then When Yugioh first came out you had 2000 life points and you didnt have to sacrafice any monster you could plaiin out summon it.But they changed the rules after duelest kingdom.
i am running old school deck based off blue-eyes / lock down and it is amazing won 3 turny's in a row so yeah old school is fun but if you mix some old school cards and update them with other cards you can beat out any deck

ROTFLMAO that is so true. a lot of these new schoolers try to claim they know what the hell they're talking about but they have no idea why half the stuff on the ban list got banned in the first place. i hate it when new players diss the old school. the way i look at it, they're just affraid of the real challenges that yugioh had to offer. being a player from set number 2--horay for metal raiders--it makes me sad at how yugioh has evolved.
When it comes to old school one has got to chose the right cards plus many of them are hard to get. It pisses people off when old school decks are used since they aren't usually theme based and can be tricky to figure out except for basic strategy then again I never used my best cards due to thieving pricks. :s When you got people steeling noob cards you know its bad.
a lot of you guys are saying things to defend your old school decks but the truth is yes they are fun and I do enjoy playing them more then newer cards because it has sentimental value and nostalgia, but old school decks will get run over by newer meta decks like a monster truck crushing a snail. The old decks are slow and they lack speed to get the cards you need. That is really the only reason old school does not work. If it were up to me I would not have gone passed gx, but so much for that.

yeah this video makes a good point. why play a lv5 normal monster with 1800 atk? lv5 and 6 normal monsters ideally shouldn't have any less than 2200 atk and even that's pushing it a bit. also, lv4 normal monsters shouldn't have any less than 1700, although there are lots of monsters out now that are lv4 normal monsters with 1900 atk.
my main currently runs spellcaster ie dark magicians and elemental heroes. why? cuase i want to an guess what their effecient. Plus my fusions revolve around those type of monsters.
me and my friends play old school, obviously casual too, we don't play in tourny's, cuz its just fun playing old school, so old school we just play traditional most of the time, but its still fun. Envoy Deck FTW. i always thought those cards were cool so its like my main for just having fun. XD
Horus was ahead of it's time. Still a very powerful card. Horus Decks are more effective than BWD decks. Working on a Dark Magician Deck now that Secret Valley of the Spell casters is out. Old School decks can work when used with newer cards. Of course Zaborgs, Breaker, Mirror Force, etc. are still used despite being old school.
horus decks are amazingly OP and amazingly weak...ive made a good horus lvl rush deck and let me just tell you...horus lvl 8 in 2 turns+ royal decree = gg XD
i remeber the good old days when the insect barrier was a meta back in 01 and the lengendary fisher man and lengenday ocean and gravity bind use to otk with that deck lol
I actually use DNA Surgery in my Machine Deck, turn everything to Machine type monsters to get out Chimeratech Fortress Dragon and clearing your opponents monsters.
I guess a Cyber Dragon deck would start counting as old because people don't use them anymore.
I did use a Spellcaster deck (DMG based really) before and it didn't work too well so that deck isn't around anymore
i used to play with a warrior deck using comand knigth, wildheart, marauding and gearfried the sword master... those were good times, and now i noly make competitive decks but making a old school deck is always fun XD
