  • I picked up a SilverTone 12 fret parlor guitar 6 months ago. I read an article that said it sold for $12 in 1955. The action was so high that it was unplayable. I think I put on a new nut and lowered the bridge quite a bit. It sounds very nice. Did you have to work on the Bari uke to make it playable?

  • That really rocks Todd... One hell of a nice touch.. For the basic tuning is it in D? Are you tuned standard (dgbe) or open tuning DGbd? Anyone interested can try slide with a piece of copper tubing.

  • Funny, MY Harmony Bari doesn't sound like that! Oh, wait a minute...maybe I don't have any talent!

  • Hi, thing is you need to maintain good string-break angle at bridge. Going down at the nut might be better but the effect will be minimal overall. Sounds great as a slide though.

  • So, first you were born,

Then you took up the uke.

Then you learned to walk and stuff.

What, that take you all of a couple of years? Show-off.

  • your stuff does not come up on my sub page todd, sorry if i have missed stuff,

    hope the move went well

  • Hope the move went well!! Sounds great as a Dobrulele (does that even exist?) I'd leave it be!

  • @potatowaste

    ha ha ha ha....Brilliant!

  • @canarycreek

    thanks Skip :)

  • Sounding great! Good luck getting settled, wherever you're landing.

  • @UkeIndy

thank you Lonna....moved in, disoriented, but adjusting i think :)

  • Oh boy! Todd, you are inducing me to buy a baryton. "An empty purse causes a full heart" :')

  • @tapilele

    i think you'd like a baritone :)

  • @doogey9 Oh, Todd... There's no way I'm working all night at this age to cope with the cost of it. Oh, wait, perhaps it'll be worth it:')

  • Brother Sonny! Happy Sunday morning to you! Good luck with boxes and things - hope you have time for a grilled cheese later.

  • @ukeyermind

    hi Shawn,

thanks mate...had time for a cheesy tortilla :)....now it's time to get 'situated.' :)

  • Check to see if the neck is bowed.

  • @thingsBIGthe

    Gio,

thanks...sure did look down the edge of the neck...i can't see any bowing?...gotta a buddy who may help me get a different/lower bridge saddle on it...we'll see

  • Sounds great, Todd. A baritone uke is the only kind I'd still like to get.

  • @thelonecheeto

    Don,

i think you'd have fun with a baritone....

  • You rock! Very cool. I hope you get your uke fixed soon :)

  • @Sheepstar15

    thank you dear...

  • slicker than penguin shit

  • @BornAgainJeeper

    ha ha ha...thanks Alex :)

  • Super, j'aime beaucoup !!

  • @Litlelilia

    thank you dear...

  • sounds brilliant Todd- and the best of luck to you :)

  • @UnluckyMum

    thank you dear lady...

  • The blues is your thing, Brother. Don't know much about the structure's influence on the action, but maybe some nice soft strings? Good luck on your move, moving is a big hastle. You're going to need some pick me up songs after that.

  • @IdahoLeLe

thank you...have some Aquilas on it a present...i love the tone of this thing, but it feels 'wonky' to have the action that high....er, um, yes pick me up songs indeed!

  • Nice one Todd. Loved it. I agree with some of the comments about the action, the higher it is the better for slide, but if you can find a happy medium then even better. Perhaps thats the best option, lower the action just a bit, but not too much. Well played dude!

  • @DiamondGeezerDude

    hey,

thank you....yeah, i've got 'meat hooks' for hands, so i can handle some 'fight' but this thing is just 'stupid high' and i agree....i like a little space just for that reason....a lil' slide playing :)

  • great tone, indeed!

    lookin forward for future tunes!

  • @worschd21

    thanks Cristoph!

  • great as allways. hey can you do hoochie coochie man?

  • @ukuleleallnight

you know, i haven't heard that song in years...i'll have to give it a listen...

  • Isn't the high action better for the Bottleneck? Too low and you may start clanging the frets.

    Sounds really good though.

  • @scx493x

yes agreed....i'd be happy with a 'middle ground' action for sure...

  • so good! agree with some of the other comments..sounds great the way it is!

  • @mjs004

    thanks Michael! :)

  • sounds great the way it is Todd.

  • @manitobahal

    thanks Hal!

  • Nice uke, Todd. You could get a steel and play it Hawaiian!

    ...Bill

  • @cariboubill

    Bill, that's a sharp idea...

  • Awesome sounds Todd!

Safe moving-grovin' friend! More like the 'move-in shuffle' OR the I can't find it ...I know i pack it! ...which box is it in ...dang...where is it hiding, I know I didn't leave behind... did I blues!?

  • @ukeBEfun

ha ha ha ha...hey thanks for using my music for your videos and giving me 'props.'

    :)

  • Congrats on the win- it is amazing how some of those ukes that played hard survived, but I guess those were the ones stuck in a closet. Good luck moving. I don't like that activity. I was gonna say you've changed a lot, but I think it's just hair- haha

  • @UkesterBrown

ha ha ha...thanks David...and i'll have you know kind sir that the magazine that you commented on a few videos back was 'SING OUT' folk magazine ha ha ha....Rachel Ray...she's cute, but i don't have the attention span for her mag ;)

  • Wonderful playing, Todd. I'll leave the suggestions to the pros. Best of luck with your move, buddy :)

  • @ukeshale

    thank you Shane :)

  • Some advice for moving... if you haven't used something for 5 years then chuck it... unless of course it is a Uke :-)

  • @weegingayin

    Rob,

i appreciate you...indeed, i've been thinnin' out quite a bit....

  • Oh ya ..great playing!

  • @woodcutter610328

    thanks Deacon :)

  • Hey friend, prayers for the move. I hope this one is a little more permanent... I hate moving! The last time I moved myself was 25 years ago. Good luck!

  • @woodcutter610328

    Deacon,

seriously i appreciate it....this place is smaller than the last....so, if you're praying and you wanna know my heart's desire...i'd love to be in a small house for my kids and a lil' bit of land to tink around on...some space if you will :)

  • @doogey9 You got it friend! Your in my prayers! +

  • great tone...mmm hope you can get it set up how you want, if not just use it for slide : -)

  • @bemuzic

thanks mate....i love the tone of this thing...

  • Good Luck with the move, we'd give you a hand, but we're busy that day ;)

Cool slide sounds!! really nicely played man!

  • @kennymelodica

    thanks Kenny,

your cheezy friend from the southwest :)

  • Those solid harmonies are very nice (I've a Harmony tenor = concert sized uke) -- great playing!

  • @reyalpEleluku

    thank you very much :)

  • Congrats on a sweet uke! Well it works well for slide though. But if you want some good hands on tip from a pro you can contact my buddy Sven, his channel is argapaukulele. He's the one that built me the soprano and he knows everything.

  • @BaronK69

thank you Baron....and again, man, i'm soooo sorry to hear about the slip/broken uke incident...

  • oh my goodness todd this is a blues masterpiece SO awesome!!

  • @boardnjiu

    thanks so much :)

  • your blues always make me feel...thank you

  • @387Dima

thank you very much :) thank you.

  • Well, it's good for playing bottleneck on, at least. Sounds good, bro. Good luck movin', and I must say, I'm a little jealous of that facial hair you're sportin'.

  • @SirCoughsalot

    ha ha ha ha...thanks brother....
