Very nice. That is NOT a Victor disc. 'Tis an Edison, and we're hearing it played on an Edison machine -- both in very good condition. Why do you say "Victor 1925"? Comment about the flappers right on, but OMG -- the way they are NOW! How can anyone believe in evolution?
"The great hall, its floor pockmarked by two decades of hobnails, was cleared for the tea dance, and four-score young Americans, domiciled in schools nears Gstaad, bounced about to the frolic of 'Don't Bring Lulu,' or exploded violently with the first percussions of the Charleston." --From Chapter 13, Book II, _Tender is the Night_ by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1934). This part of the novel occurs in 1925, the year "Don't Bring Lulu" was released.
My great- Aunts were flappers and when I was a kid they used to make me laugh by singing this classic chestnut to cheer me up.You've transported me back to some great memories with this song! Thanks! Got any Bix Beiderbecke?
Great version. The singers' clear pronunciation helps to appreciate this hilariously entertaining song. Some of the Lulus you show are certainly not to be brought to a party. :)
Probably the wildest lyrics of any version of this song I have heard. And they sang it on the Interwoven Socks Hour

A shlemiel is, in plain English, a dope. Much milder and more polite than schmuck.

High-spirited high-jinks. I recall a cousin named Lulu, but he was male--albeit apparently a schlemiel. Probably his name was Louis or Leo.
