  • I Love Ted Lewis' music. Just discovered him thanks to youtube.

  • Tubeportal....You are so right!

  • He was from the time when being in entertainment was about having talent rather than a pretty face or big bazongas.

  • From my hometown of Circleville, Ohio, Ted Lewis was a legend in the 1920s and '30s. I caddied for him once at Pickaway Country Club. "Me and My Shadow" and "When my Baby Smiles at Me" were just two of his many hits.

  • wow - the panel was a little testy with Ted! They didn't complain they couldn't hear the voice when Judy Garland was a guest

  • And we are wanting to ask Mr.Ted Lewis.."is everybody Happy Ted..including You?"

  • they all had charm and class here. a bygone era.

  • I love these old vaudevillians - such hams!! Yeah I know he wasn't exactly from vaudeville but it fits my purposes.

"You mean somethin' like this?" and off he goes lol!

  • Ted Lewis (his catchphrase: "Is everybody happy?") was a beloved bandleader-clarinetist-songwriter-singer-monologuist with an incredible 102 hits between 1920 and 1938. Started in vaudeville, organized a terrific hot jazz band, eventually evolved in a maker of warm, sentimental nostalgic gems. Hisd theme: "When MyBaby Smiles At Me." His trademark? That battered top hat. Ted also backed Fats Waller, Ruth Etting and Sophie Tucker, among others. He died at 79 in 1971.

  • Is Everybody Happy!

  • I have heard of him, but I have never seen him in any video clips. Thanks.
