@713newfie its how many mhz it is. 1600 is faster but I wouldnt worry too much. there is also higher i think 2000 or 2400 or something but some motherboards dont run at the higher speed and for my motherboard 1600 is the highest I can go. (and I have to be under 1.6v but thats a different story).

A great way to sae but load of money on a gaming rig is to take a pre-existing hard drive and sound card from one of your old computers and put it in your new computer. Saved me like $300.

building is always cheaper. It may be harder, it may be riskier, but it saves you that money you just might need later for a game to run on that pc :) I have a ps3 and some nintendo products but my cmoputers are junk I just recently realized how much a good gaming computer would be of use and now I am saving 1000$ and I will buy a comp with what I have. Rememebr why spend 1000$ on a good gaming computer when you can spend 700$ on a better one you build yourself :)

just to let you know, just because its quad core doesn't make it better than some dual cores. my 3.16 dual core without overclock is better than a 2.4 quad when it comes to games. games haven't the ability to access all 4 cores yet. so unless your going to overclock or get a 3.0 quad or better, for a gaming rig your wasting your money.

the video was made Jan 08', probably got some parts in 07'. if you bought your system recently then it explains the diff in price. you have to take into consideration that prices drop dromatically every other month or something. a year or so back the amd 4000+'s were $300-$400 when I was looking at them and now they are only $70 on some websites. I have a phenom x4 9950be, 4gb ddr2-1066, LG sata dvd-rw, evga gtx 260, ocz 500w psu, antec 300 and a acer 22in wide lcd only cost me about $1300
