  • Great disco funk song!

  • the birth of of house music as a sax player side job

  • j'adore ce genre de vidéo

  • Whoa I got to play a jazz concert with him when he was a guest at my college jazz lab. Insane talent, paying the bills with some disco! They all had to do it.

  • The "we" in "we got bills to pay, it ain't funny" probably = musicians, so it was as much a political statement as a dance groove. Even Stanley Turrentine (old-school tenor player) had a dance/pop album on Elektra called "Home Again", but it was truly awful. Ernie did better than most; he was a sideman for Quincy Jones. He was all over the album "The Dude". He soloed on "100 Ways", with James Ingram. He also got some in the song "Something Special", with Patti Austin.

  • I believe that the person who played that alto sax on What's Going on was Eli Fontaine Sr. He was also the saxohonist on Let's Get it on.

  • Ernie Watts is best known as Marvin Gaye's saxophone player. I think he also did the famous opening of What's Going On. This is surprisingly funky.

  • lAST TIME i HEARD THIS WAS ON MY CRAPPY SINGLE HITTACHI CASSETTE LISTENING TO A PIRATE STATION ON SUNDAYS - CRACKLES AND STRATCHES AND ALL.
