For some reason, I always have to remind myself that English is basically a second language to this man... I've always wanted to hear a good bout of Welsh from him. This was great. He's so handsome, in every way.
@poundingonthedoor if you want to hear him speaking some more Welsh, there's a bit of him on the Graham Norton show where he phones a Welsh woman to make her go out with one of the audience members. Too funny.
this poem was written by an unknown 6th century poet about Taliesin a poet and druid who like Merlin knew all things, and who lived in Northumbria when Britain was Celtic and all spoke the language of the Gods,
I agree completely with cak813! His voice is superb when he's acting and charming when he's not. I rewatched King Arthur the other day and his voice made me all goosepimply O.o
I have to keep reminding myself to breathe, I LOVE this guy!!!!!!!! He's such a great actor, and his voice is beautiful. And I love his eyes, I just had to say that xD!
Ioan kept repeating "I am Taliesin." Is that what the Welsh call themselves or...?
And looks aside, the man has a beautiful voice. He reminds me of James Earl Jones or Morgan Freeman. Something about his voice just makes the simplest words so much grander.
Yes! He's such an amazing talent. I first heard him when he played Horatio Hornblower and later William Wilberforce. His ability to articulate with clarity and purpose, his attention to detail and precision is reflected in his delivery. Simply the best!
He tells of Taliesin, bard of Arthurian court. Words from anonymous 13th c. Welsh verse. English translation intriguing but can't compare with original Welsh that Ioan expresses so beautifully.
Yes, if I remember from my lessons, he's supposed to have written poetry that can be dated back the furthest. Although, if you've seen the original poems, it's nearly impossible to understand them, even with a good grasp of modern Welsh.
And so...we meet again, motherfucking 240p -_-

Ioan Gruffudd could read the phone book and make it sound good. A terrific actor and easy on the eyes, too.

It's an old Welsh poem called TALIESIN. Welsh (Cymraeg) is Ioan's first language ^_^
Its the oldest language in all of Europe!
Beautiful, isn't it?

Welsh poetry makes little sense. (The translations are sometimes really amusing ^_^) Singing is practically part of Welsh culture.

Welsh is an interesting language. But I know Ioan can sing, he does in Amazing Grace and he sounds great.
