You may think theyre getting uvb out there, but they arent, unless it shines through the gap, plastic and glass doesnt allow uvb through. either get a cage or a mesh top ( not so sure on mesh )
its so blank. and i'd say its a bit small too. get a bigger tank, some plants and driftwood, and keep it inside. keeping it inside will make sure they have constant temps and humidity. i feel "perfect" was the wrong word for this.. simple, yes. perfect, no
I would greatly appreciate it if everyone could check out my video of my baby turtles and subscribe!!! I will also be coming out with new videos in the future!! thanks!!
You have 3 big ass turtles in a small tank, they are probably not happy, better get small turtles or get a much bigger tank, a general rule of the thumb is, if your turtle is 3 inches long, you should have atleast 20 (US) tank, if you have two 3 inch turtles you need atleast a 40 gallon tank.
see how when they're on the bottom, their heads stick out of the water? that = sad turtles. there's a plethora of issues with this tank, but at least give them some depth so they can dive and swim properly. They're aquatic creatures, they don't wanna walk!
Anyone who wants a turtle because they're "so cute" and "so cool", you should know they require a particular environment to survive in captivity. please go to "austinsturtlepage.cm", and other websites to do lots and lots of research before you even consider taking care of a turtle.
i hope youve changed your turtle setup cause if you havent your turtles will die. look at any turtle care page and you will realize that they need at least 10x the amount of room and water that they have their. they also need a basking light and heater. again if you havent looked properly into taking care of your turtles, please give them to someone who actually cares about them because you obviously do not.
Sure if you were a turtle you wouldn't say this is a perfect tank. The only good thing: landscape, which is useless for turtles in this case. You've made much of what shouldn't be done to keep turtles properly.
More water would be a lot nicer. A good UV lamp. Some real plants and substrate and a background. Then it will really be a nice tank dude! Keep on it,enjoy the hobby
@Amatersaru1 I'm guessing so hence the music. Ha! He was probably just cleaning the main tank. he seems quite educated, if you read his comments. This was done for a giggle. :-)
I was told by a former turtle owner that your supposed to have the water high enough for the RES to jump in. Is this correct? Please message me if anyone knows or has any tips for me. I will put a video up one day on how my red eared sliders tank looks like actually I will try to put one up in a couple of minutes.
If you want to see a good turtle setup check out my videos, I don't claim my setup is perfect but it's certainly better then the one in this video. Please don't brag about your fancy plexyglass tank and your city view because it's not helping your turtles what so ever. I hope you've either given them to someone who's willing to spend the money to look after them properly or have done a little reseach and given them the proper living environment.
If you hadn't claimed to have "a perfect setup" I wouldn't be this mean. Your "killer filter" is garbage, your tank don't have nearly enough water and I don't see a basking lamp. I really hope your not relying on "natural light" to get through all those windows and plexy glass because it's not. Your tank might be ok if it was almost full, but since it's not it's crap. Good tank, it looks awsome but it's not good for what you have in it. Turtles don't have 2 shits about that city view...
thats the perfect tank im lookin for where and wats it called? also what type of filter was that? with it do you still need to change the water?
im a noob at this, my brother has two turtles, but on my way home i found an abondoned turtle that from the looks of its feet has been traveling for quite some time. i plan on taking it to petco or smart as they are associated with animal rescue groups
Kay so here's the story... I had a turtle named baby. He was about 2-3 inches around. Baby was left in her outside tank and then a raccoon ate it. A year later (yeasterday) I found a new turtle called Donny but donny is I very sad turtle because he is a 3 times bigger turtle than baby ever was so now he's stuck in a tiny tank without proper lighting basking set up or even a proper filter. And I don't know what to do. Any specifications for what i'm getting at the pet store tomorrow?
Larger tank, UV lamp (UVA, UVB mixed), basking platform (floating), and try to keep it indoors. A filter will not be that important if you change the water everyday. Or else, buy a good filter.
No, a filter is important. For a turtle you need really good filter, like a cannister filter. Only partial water changes would be needed then, as you don't want to lose all the good bacteria.
You need a higher water level. Terrapins need to exercise by swimming and to cool down on a hot day. Remember to decorate it so that the terrapins have some fun playing with them and admiring them. (:
You have a nice landscape, but where are all the decorations thats essential too remember turtles were once in a lake with flowers, plants, rocks, etc. You have to put that stuff in the tank too! Also you need a bigger tank ;)
perfect? lol it was a small tank with nothing in it but a floating dock. lmao u gotta checkout sum of the tank setups ppl have on here and on other sites, ull see wut im talking about
Those types of filters don’t cut it for turtles. And I’m pretty sure aquariums shouldn’t be near windows.. also, turtles need a lot more water area to swim. (i didn't see heat/uvb lamps or heater) :(
1. no basking light 2. too little water add more now! 3. that filter wouldnt keep the water clean in a 1 gallon tank let alone a big tank with two big turtles.
plus i bet there dead now from ammonia or something becuse the filter cant deal with it
I do not mean to be rude, however this tank is so far from perfect. However, considering the age of this video I will assume this tank has changed for the better.
That is the worst tank ever. The tank is WAY too small, they need at least 2 inches of gravel or something in the bottom, plants (preferably live fresh water plants), a heat lamp on one side, a circulation filter, a house or hut in the water and the land for them to hide in, a floating plant so you can feed them crickets once a week (they will not eat them after they drown) (and feed them live fish twice a week), and more platform land space than that.
Turtles need a habitat that matches nature. You've got them in a tank with a dock and nothing else. I don't see a basking lamp or UVA/UVB lighting. I feel sorry for those poor things if they're even still alive.
all sliders need about three times the depth of water than they them selves are tall, inother words, have the water so deep they can stad on their toes and poke theor heads out, your current filter wont hack that volume of water.
sliders also need a big basking area, lotsof heat, mostly out of the water, in the wild the water temp drops dramatically, so sliders and musks, do well with out a water heater, they still need a heat lamp, on the land area
i would only use it as a sick-bay, and even still i would have more water in it with bi-weekly changes,
i have three musk turtles, each around 5 inches long, living in a four foot long by one foot wide tank, with two feet depth probly only fill to one and a half feet, a filter similar to yours acts as an air intake, and a biological filter, a large canister filter, an inch or two of fine gravel and sand, tonnes of wood, making it about half wood and halaf floor
you also need a heater to keep the water at about 80 degrees.... that filter is a piece of shit too....for turtles you need something to filter 3 times the amount of water you have....so you first need to get a 150 gallon tank so you can fill it with 100 gallons of water AT LEAST...then you need a filter that is for filtering a 300 gallon tank AT LEAST....and you need your fucking uvb and heat lights......youre a fucking disgrace...animal abuser....dumbass fucking idiot
you dumbass where is your UVB and basking light?? and you barely have any fucking water in there...turtles SWIM ..they fucking need space to swim...the way you have them right now they cant even swim all they can do is walk on the bottom....fucking idiot...turtles need AT LEAST 10 gallons of water PER inch of turtle PER turtle... looks like one of them is about 4 inches and the other is about 6 inches....10 in.. you should have 100 gallons of water for them to swim in you fucking retard
perfect turtle tank my ass, first of all no substrate? (dont make a diff to turtles) but it isnt aesthetically pleasing, also not enough water for them to swim as much as a terrapin needs to. and the filter isnt that great to be honest. try a fluval instead of a walmart candy-ass filter. and i hope you choose to upgrade tank size soon cuz its gonna be ridicilously small. And i dont see a uvb or uva lamp? there could be one ( well i hope). Anyways check out my vids. for a ideal turtle tank.
@OscarzNTurtlez substrate does make a difference to the turtles it gives them security and something ti dig round in instead of being bored all day. very true that they need more water and a better filter though. But why would he need a uv lamp when here outside and get the best lights possible, better than any amp could ever achieve?
By turtles I assume that you mean all the reptiles under the order Testudines. This order involves a lot of turtles that are not fully aquatic, some are even fully terrestrial. For example, all tortoises and some box turtles are fully terrestrial. A red ear slider, a terrapin is mostly aquatic, but still sometime goes on land to bask or lay eggs. So, not all turtles swim, in fact, a lot are fully terrestrial.
theres nothing to ur tank. lmmfao????????? yeah its perfect ... u moron ooh a filter and a floating pad, tho the pad is tight n looks like it rises with the water. put some more thought into it yo.
sorry i didn't know that a perfect turtle tank setup would consist of a bare tank with 3 inches of water, a tiny internal filter, and a sucky commercial turtle platform.
yo dude your tank is good but it can be better everyone's tank can be better. saying "perfect" is boasting .
you put up this video cause you want people to admire it therefore when people critique you about tank space and lighting, don't answer back . truth is turtles need there water temperature at a certain level to digest food properly sun doesn't do that they are reptiles they are cold blooded there definition of heat is different from ours
you don't have to be cold blooded to have surrounding temperatures affect you. just cause we find the temperature hot doesn't mean they would see it the same way , how about you make a video of you putting a thermometer and seeing the temperature of your water and see if it is correct to the turtles usual habitat
@jayywii: Well how do you think the water gets warm in the wild? Its not like they have a giant heating lamp over every pond or lake. Its the sun that warms the water. The definition of cold blooded is that they cannot produce their own heat, like us. They have to have heat in their surrounding environments to keep them warm which naturally comes from the sun.

- the tank is too small to support 1 juvenile turtle nevermind 2
- no basking lamps (puting it beside a window wont give them enough heat/uv
- no substrate
- your "killer filter" is the size of a friggen Car battery and either just sucks or needs a new cartrtidge.
- Its also the most basic tank I've ever seen: no waterfalls, no drift wood, no decor.

you dumbass where is your UVB and basking light?? and you barely have any fucking water in there...turtles SWIM ..they fucking need space to swim...the way you have them right now they cant even swim all they can do is walk on the bottom....fucking idiot...turtles need AT LEAST 10 gallons of water PER inch of turtle PER turtle... looks like one of them is about 4 inches and the other is about 6 inches....10 in.. you should have 100 gallons of water for them to swim in you fucking retard
CannaToker 1 year ago
More water and basking lamp, then you have a "nice" setup, but not perfect. Remember this rule: 1 gallon of water for every inch of shell!
athikerguy4life 1 year ago
Raise the water a few inches and it would be one of my favorites !

perfect turtle tank my ass, first of all no substrate? (dont make a diff to turtles) but it isnt aesthetically pleasing, also not enough water for them to swim as much as a terrapin needs to. and the filter isnt that great to be honest. try a fluval instead of a walmart candy-ass filter. and i hope you choose to upgrade tank size soon cuz its gonna be ridicilously small. And i dont see a uvb or uva lamp? there could be one ( well i hope). Anyways check out my vids. for a ideal turtle tank.
OscarzNTurtlez 1 year ago
@OscarzNTurtlez substrate does make a difference to the turtles it gives them security and something ti dig round in instead of being bored all day. very true that they need more water and a better filter though. But why would he need a uv lamp when here outside and get the best lights possible, better than any amp could ever achieve?

i have a question, those all turtles swim?
lilking1453 1 year ago
@lilking1453

MrCoryjohnson1 2 years ago
sorry i didn't know that a perfect turtle tank setup would consist of a bare tank with 3 inches of water, a tiny internal filter, and a sucky commercial turtle platform.
MarcuSS85 2 years ago
bigger tank and fill water high high. Otherwise nice

yo dude your tank is good but it can be better everyone's tank can be better. saying "perfect" is boasting .
you put up this video cause you want people to admire it therefore when people critique you about tank space and lighting, don't answer back . truth is turtles need there water temperature at a certain level to digest food properly sun doesn't do that they are reptiles they are cold blooded there definition of heat is different from ours
i am not hating just telling you what i think .
jayywii 2 years ago 3
i agree
Flap1987 2 years ago
If reptiles are cold blooded, that means their surrounding temperature affects them, sun is one of the factor.
super1commenter 2 years ago
@super1commenter
one factor does not mean the correct factor .
you don't have to be cold blooded to have surrounding temperatures affect you. just cause we find the temperature hot doesn't mean they would see it the same way , how about you make a video of you putting a thermometer and seeing the temperature of your water and see if it is correct to the turtles usual habitat
jayywii 2 years ago
Sun IS a correct factor. So turtles got lamps in the wild?
super1commenter 2 years ago
are your turtles in the wild?
jayywii 2 years ago
@super1commenter just listen 2 jay coz what do you know bout turtles
Dale16aquaman 1 year ago
@jayywii: Well how do you think the water gets warm in the wild? Its not like they have a giant heating lamp over every pond or lake. Its the sun that warms the water. The definition of cold blooded is that they cannot produce their own heat, like us. They have to have heat in their surrounding environments to keep them warm which naturally comes from the sun.
Foxlightt 1 year ago
yea and he needs a light cause his turtles arnt in the wild
