This is what Cody Lundin needs to do, his recent comments about survival shows suggests he hates most of the staging that his producers conjure up. If he did survival the way Les Stroud does it, I'm sure he'd be happier with his production. Dave Canterbury is a "real-deal" also, cause his stuff is heavily on YOU-TUBE! Les is the "real-deal-Hollyfield", unbelievable guy. The summer one with da bow drill was no joke, he played that one exactly the way it's done, tenacity, and strong will!!!

@Des3rtEagle & @thisisjonnyh the fact is that these survival shows are supposed to be somewhat educational. their purpose is to show the average person how to survive if ever they become lost in the wild. what bear grylls does is possible yes, but only for the highly trained and the ex-military. try doin what he does and you'll die. the only reason he's even still on the air is because he does "extreme" shit like taking off his clothes and drinking piss. it's ridiculous.
the 7 ppl who disliked are the ppl who have absolutely no meaning of the words 'awesomely awesome' and have no brain to think for themselves and just ahve to click the moronic button that says dislike.
Oh for the love of. 90% of the people on here have probably never spent a day out in the wilderness and you have the audacity to compare survival shows. Regardless of if its "fake" or not. Think about it....ok there could be a hotel just over a hill for Les or Bear, but all of these skills they teach are what keeps you alive. So why bitch about it when the info from the shows is very credible. Again...who gives a shit if they are alone or not? Its valuable knowledge for survival.
@Hashishin13 That actually will keep you alive if you actually need it...."good survival" is catching alot of good food with little effort and eating it next to a natural spring of fresh water. The whole camel dung thing is desperate survival. If you cant find good things like fish or snakes and you have to stay alive then that WILL help you.
you cant compare bear whit him because its 2 different ways of survival this guy stay and relax more often make it kinda his home and wait for his crew... bear is like showing that sometimes you have to take a risk and tells that you need to keep going if you need to get back fast or find good spots.... that you have to find rescue or civilization they are all good they are not lying you can learn from both of them
the only way anyone can pull off what Bear does, is to be IN the SAS. or just in fantastic shape. you would NOT do what he does in a survival scenario because its not good risk vs. reward. yes, bear knows how to survive, yes he has experts to help him, survivorman does alot of pre-show work with local experts too, because no one can remember the specifics of every environ on earth. bear shows the hardest way to survive, the most extreme examples. survivorman is about giving people some basic help
Les Stroud > Bear Grylls Easily...One guy shows EXTREME-CRAZY-SHIT you can do with a film crew present: One goes into solidarity of an environment and shows plausible ways to keep yourself alive if you're ever stranded. Les Stroud is the man.
@rockndude87 Yeah, Les Stroud is much better at showing survival skills b/c he's alone with no camera crew. You're right. However, that doesn't mean that Bear Grylls isn't an expert survivalist. I'm pretty sure Bear Grylls, the climber of Mt. Everest and former British SAS, can survive effectively and efficiently without a tv crew. So sure Les is BETTER b/c he doesn't do it w/o a camera crew, but none of them is better over each other - unless you're strictly speaking for how they perform on tv.
@andyshinnnn The argument is practicality for surviving over excitement. Ever talk to someone who was in a survival situation? I doubt they were doing extreme stunts. Hypothetically, go back over 35,000 years ago. One guy jumps in a mud pit to get a sheep carcass or stick his face in a bee hive to get a small amount a honey 4 times out of 5 he'd probably die. Another guy builds a simple shelter, finds/makes a clean water source, traps food, and moves on when necessary; he's more likely to live.
@andyshinnnn Surviving is about making rational decisions to make the best chances to get through a situation...Bear Grylls doesn't show that. And apparently DOES NOT want to show that in his show...that's my point.
@rockndude87 I've heard lots of stories of lives being saved because of Bear Grylls (Man Vs Wild). And same goes for Survivorman. They're both kickass.
@rockndude87 so u say because Bear Grylls is with a crew Les Stroud is better?wrong,Bear is younger so more endurance, much better climber, and he is an ex SAS :PP btw both are great.
@Des3rtEagle My emphasis is not on Grylls having a crew. "Dual Survival" has a crew but Cody Lundin and Dave Canterberry show you practical ways to survive, as does Les Stroud. I don't really care if Bear is "better" doing what he does, but he presents it in a way to get attention and be excessively dramatic with his presentation. Surviving is about staying calm, taking care of your priorities (shelter, food, water, and eventually rescue), being prepared, and perseverance. Not showing off...
@rockndude87 I really don't understand why people keep ripping on Bear Grylls. His show and Les's show are all different in their own ways. Bear Grylls shows surviving in an intense way, showing what shit can go down: and yes he does do crazy and sometimes risky shit, but survival is all about the extremes, and how you face it. They're different shows! While Stround camps for 7 days and survives there, Bear focus on getting out of the place, and that's why he runs around "doing stunts". And yes, it's fake and they say it... Some situations are fake so he can SHOW people how what to do then!

That is one thing anyone who spends time high in the rockies knows: The water there is beautiful. I remember hiking up to a glacier with some friends, and below the glacier, the melt creates pressure that pushes the water through the rocks. Out of the rocky ground shoots streams of beautiful pristine mineral water into the air. It's just delicious!
i've been watching this since grade 7. now i'm in mcgill university and all i've been doing for the last 3 years is eat great food and watch him enjoy what little sustenance he gets.
Oh I just love this war... ;D Man vs. Wild more about teaching (especially if you don't have all the gear with you), Survivorman is surviving. But I like watching Man vs. Wild much more than watching a hairy old man walking for 40 minutes.
@fuckyouitsminebiatch Bear isn't fake. He just gives you the options of how to survive if you NEED it. If he was alone he could probably still survive, but why risk his life when they're is a whole camera crew with him? Point is, Bear Grylls doesn't NEED a camera crew or a survival expert, but if he ever was stuck in the desert/mountains/tundras he could survive.
@Lukello46 I agree =D but Bear Grylls was in the SAS and a lot of the time he seems to have different priorities other than just surviving. It almost seems as if he's trying to escape captivity from time to time.
This guy is slightly more practical, but they're both heroes :D
he isnt on his own, quite a few scenary camera angles are used... he oviously isnt on his own unless he runs forward 300 yards sets up the camera runs back and then carrrys on. i dont think so les. BEAR GRYLLS FTW
@MacpheeCreaTionS Disregarding how stupid your comment is, Les IS on his own. He normally carried between 3 and 5 cameras do film the Survivorman oddisy.
Bear Grylls does show a lot of good stuff but his show is more entertainment its not realistic like Les' is. Les shows it all from the real mans perspective. He starts fires using methods he hasn't practiced and he doesn't use a firesteel to start all his fires like Bear does. One episode bear was filming he jumped from something and broke his shoulder. Needless to say the episode was speedily cut short. but les would be pretty much screwed. he would have to radio for help.
Bear is fun to watch, but takes way too many risks BECAUSE HE CAN, 'cause he has a crew with him. I prefer watching Les, because I learn a lot more, but I still learn from Bear too.
thats stupid, you put on layers so you can take off layers as you sweat depending on how hard you work, when he starts to sweat he removes layers to cool down and then when he gets too cold he puts a layer on and it repeats, you can never find a perfect amount of layering since the amount of work you do always varies
@dumapies i disagree, because, if you sweat, you're playing with death. Sweat can freeze, and you're never guaranteed that your sweat will dry. especially if its raining. sweating is unnecessary perspiration. and used precious fluids that you're body needs. i used to teach outdoor survival. Im on the phone with someone who has been trapping in those mountains for 30 years, and has built 3 cabins in those ranges. who also agrees with me.
Grylls gives good advice but his show is more for entertainment. Anyone who knows anything about the outdoors knows that Survivorman is far more realistic in terms of real survival scenarios. Sprinting around doing stunts like Bear is a good way to get yourself injured and tired. Stroud teaches how to deal with the psychological aspect of survival as well which is half the battle
@Fenyx6 You hit the nail on the head. They are both great for what they are. Both of them have very wonderful and unique personalities. Some people seem to want to put everything on a totem pole, but people are unique and have different things to offer. Personally, if I want to learn to survive, I'll listen to EVERYTHING I can learn.
@Fenyx6 Come on! What is dangerous about what Grylls does? Dangling yourself on old electric cables between a crane and a 7stages building? Hitting the rusty structure you are standing on with a metal bar? For no reason approaching an elephant herd? Sliding down a snowy slope with the thrill of not knowing if there are rocks beneath? "lol" but sad when you think that a lot of people actually think what Grylls does is real survival...
@Fenyx6 The thing is, Bear gives bullshit advice and lies to you at the same time. He tells you to drink your own urine, even though any kind of survival specialist would tell you not to do that unless absolutely necessary, and I don't consider killing animals part of entertainment, another reason why I dislike Bear that hypocritical cunt.
Yes Grylls do fall into unlikely and impractical scenarios but he does them because his show is more info heavy. He shows us how and what can happen. Whether he can spend the night, is not the point. If you're looking for credentials, he did climb mt. everest at age 23
If anything Survivorman is more of entertainment because his show resembles reality television.
half the stuff he teaches you on his show wont help you, like eating bugs and plants.. then once he 'eats' the bugs, etc. his camera crew probably shares a granola bar with him.
Les Stroud is not fake he is like Bear Grills another adventurer person who teaches you how to survive if you was lost somewears with no food or water. Who ever says these two are fake Les Stroud and Bear Grills dont no anything about survivel and dont think before they speak I think Les Stroud and Bear Grills are two awesome persons who does this for our benifit coolness to both of them.!
@HDReactionz Bear Grylls is a fake. Just youtube his show then type "exposed" and you'll see a vid of him acting like he is in the middle of NOwhere (his words, remember this as it's a KEY point) and crossing a dangerous volcanic crack "miles long" -THEN u'll see some average dudes at the SAME place doing the same thing then they move the vid cam out and show you there are cars and a parking lot and that it's a tourist attraction. proof is in the pudding. Survivorman is WAY better ;-)
@AirsoftKid333 Actually Survivorman started airing in 2004, 2 years before man vs. wild. so Bear Grylls is copying him, also Bear goes out with a film crew, Les Stroud does all his own filming, he carrys all his film equipment with him, he has to set up his camera to get the shots of him walking up the mountain and then walk back and get it. he goes out alone, Bear has an entire crew with him. The show isn't meant to be entertaining, its meant to be informative, educational and save lives.
@AirsoftKid333 Also anyone would pant on the mountain top because the air is so thin up there. Its very hard to breathe in high altitudes. Its why mountain climbers carry oxygen tanks with them. Thats common knowledge.
2 men: 1 leader survivalist, 1 cameraman

@fuckyouitsminebiatch Bear isn't fake. He just gives you the options of how to survive if you NEED it. If he was alone he could probably still survive, but why risk his life when they're is a whole camera crew with him? Point is, Bear Grylls doesn't NEED a camera crew or a survival expert, but if he ever was stuck in the desert/mountains/tundras he could survive.

Bear grylls is so much better...
Lukello46 11 months ago
@Lukello46 I agree =D but Bear Grylls was in the SAS and a lot of the time he seems to have different priorities other than just surviving. It almost seems as if he's trying to escape captivity from time to time.
This guy is slightly more practical, but they're both heroes :D

also where do the glacier walking stix & shoes come from... wow why the fuk does he pretend to be alone BEAR GRYLLS FTW
MacpheeCreaTionS 11 months ago
he isnt on his own, quite a few scenary camera angles are used... he oviously isnt on his own unless he runs forward 300 yards sets up the camera runs back and then carrrys on. i dont think so les. BEAR GRYLLS FTW
MacpheeCreaTionS 11 months ago
@MacpheeCreaTionS Disregarding how stupid your comment is, Les IS on his own. He normally carried between 3 and 5 cameras do film the Survivorman oddisy.
WarioDS 11 months ago
@MacpheeCreaTionS yeah, he does do that you moron. His setting up the cameras takes up to 65% of his time

THANKS FOR POSTING THESE!! LES IS DA MAN!!
Bear is fun to watch, but takes way too many risks BECAUSE HE CAN, 'cause he has a crew with him. I prefer watching Les, because I learn a lot more, but I still learn from Bear too.

if he was layering properly he wouldnt have sweated in the first place......
organicdarrin 1 year ago
@organicdarrin
thats stupid, you put on layers so you can take off layers as you sweat depending on how hard you work, when he starts to sweat he removes layers to cool down and then when he gets too cold he puts a layer on and it repeats, you can never find a perfect amount of layering since the amount of work you do always varies
dumapies 1 year ago
@dumapies i disagree, because, if you sweat, you're playing with death. Sweat can freeze, and you're never guaranteed that your sweat will dry. especially if its raining. sweating is unnecessary perspiration. and used precious fluids that you're body needs. i used to teach outdoor survival. Im on the phone with someone who has been trapping in those mountains for 30 years, and has built 3 cabins in those ranges. who also agrees with me.
organicdarrin 1 year ago
@dumapies if it was raining how would he dry his sweat off?
organicdarrin 1 year ago
DOING IT IS ONE THING......FILMING ADD THE HARDEST ELEMENT
organicdarrin 1 year ago

Cheers mate.

@Fenyx6 Couldn't have said it better myself.
VitriolicAC 9 months ago
@Fenyx6 Exactly. Your da man
sharon4942 9 months ago
@Fenyx6 The thing is, Bear gives bullshit advice and lies to you at the same time. He tells you to drink your own urine, even though any kind of survival specialist would tell you not to do that unless absolutely necessary, and I don't consider killing animals part of entertainment, another reason why I dislike Bear that hypocritical cunt.
KreatorRage 8 months ago 3
@Fenyx6 plus he does all his own camera work

@Fenyx6 What about Dual Survivor?
snuckles108 7 months ago
@Fenyx6 Vice versa

This show is older than Bear Grylls one. LOL!
Sweat9100 1 year ago
@AirsoftKid333 Actually Survivorman started airing in 2004, 2 years before man vs. wild. so Bear Grylls is copying him, also Bear goes out with a film crew, Les Stroud does all his own filming, he carrys all his film equipment with him, he has to set up his camera to get the shots of him walking up the mountain and then walk back and get it. he goes out alone, Bear has an entire crew with him. The show isn't meant to be entertaining, its meant to be informative, educational and save lives.
factsNOfiction 1 year ago
@AirsoftKid333 Also anyone would pant on the mountain top because the air is so thin up there. Its very hard to breathe in high altitudes. Its why mountain climbers carry oxygen tanks with them. Thats common knowledge.
