  • Interesting how the dummy wasn't wearing a 'helmet'.

You would probably get as big a reduction in drag as the S5 by wearing slimmer fitting cycling gear, I'm amazed how many people spend a fortune on carbon fibre road bikes and wear flapping, ruffled jackets and jerseys.

  • I can see what's coming next little automaticly opening compartments for your waterbottles, like the weapons bay on an F22. It does seem like a faster bike, but I'm sure some stiffness was sacrificed....and seeing that anyone that can afford this bike is probally fat...

  • wow look how low he rides lol

  • Good looking thing, nice bike. Can I have one please? Just pop it in the post. Thanks!

  • whats the difference the bike dont go by itself, the person is the one making all the drag.

  • Cervelo, at 4:16 a 30 watt energy savings is claimed. what is this compared to? at what speed? more information please. thanks

  • @zrh2004 I believe they were comparing to the S3 on the same rider in the same clothing, remaining setup, positions, and perceived exertions.

  • i want to know that my road bike the body frame is SCANDIUM is that a good brand ?

  • @kidsearchgui That's a type of metal used to make your bike frame

  • just get a CAAD10 for half the price and be done with it

  • @1acetman Don't mock the man, he was looking for gold to pay for his new bike.

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a store that sells the S5 at a good price? I know these shops have to make their living too, but it seems like they're over pricing a little too much in Miami.

  • @1xtra299 everything is overpriced in miami

  • love my S2

  • @inismore11 What qualifies you to pass judgement on how other riders 'look'? Good luck with that.

  • Is there a reason why the "riders" in the wind tunnel are riding in the TT position? Is the time savings of the S5 vs S3 based on the rider being in this position? Seems like some important information is left out here....

  • @1acetman well spotted :)

  • The math: rider A @ 40KPH vs B @ 30KPH. Over one hour A gains 2km B gains 1.392. Over 20KM (sorry) A gains 1min 26sec B gains 1min 47sec. The rest of your post was noise.

  • Actually, over a fixed distance the benefits are greater for a slower rider than for a faster rider. Furthermore, below about 5 percent grade aerodynamics trump weight. Any moderately fit rider who is looking to buy some speed should absolutely do the math and take a long hard look at the S5. Along with wheels, your frame is the only game in town.

  • @A24F965 Jesus, are you being paid by Cervélo to post such non-sense? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the brand. But the faster you are, the more you need an aero road bike. Fact. Stop trying to get 20km/h guys buy a Cervélo S5. Of course they would benefit from the S5 like any rider who upgrades his bike would, but the so-called watts saved are at a speed of 40km/h or 45km/h. If you can maintain that kind of speed for a hour alone without any draft, I consider you an awesome rider.

  • @A24F965 Nonsense. A really slow rider going a little faster is just going to look the idiot on an aero bike because they'll still be going slow, despite being a little faster. If you're not 'competing' why bother spending money and embarrassment on a super-aero ROAD (not TT) bike to go a little faster while not 'competing'? Just nonsense. If you're TT'ing you get the P3 or P4, not the S5. If you are strong enough to go off the front of a pack, then sure, the S5 is for you.

  • I suppose it makes no sense if you are a Schleck or a Cancellara. However if, like me, you can barely get ahead of yourself on a ride, then aerodynamics look like cheep speed. Sign me up,

  • @A24F965 It makes all the sense in the world if you're Schleck or Cancellara. The faster you go, the more power you need to increase your speed by a 1 km/h. The better you are, the more you will benefit from an aero road bike on the flat grounds. Schleck doesn't really need it though because he coasts during flat stages and needs an extra stiff frame for the climbing, but expect Trek to join the aero bandwagon soon and make a bike for Cancellara in 1 day races.

  • rode one today :)

  • I'm glad they applied their previous "learnings" (2:45) but I'm afraid when I check my bank balance I'll find I don't have enough money for this, so I'll apply that particular "learning" and purchase something less ridiculously overpriced. However, I can still draft behind my "twin/identical person" (3:45), who is a rich bastard, so can afford this.

  • Cervelo has done it again. This will be my upgrade from a 2010 S1 Oh and don't mind the bloke below. His youtube favorites list sez all.

  • @monkeysoupman hahaha "how to have sex with women". Someone has some problems.

  • Really nice bike but ridiculously overpriced just because it haves a better shape that is more aerodynamic, I mean the frame prolly don't cost that much more to produce than other carbon bikes so you pay like 50% for the R&D (-_-)

  • @KriegsMaschine R&D is part of the production cost...businesses have to recoup that through pricing just as much as they have to recoup the cost of physically forging the frame

  • my next bike~~~

  • If someone in the Garmin Cervelo-team has one extra after the tour, I'd gladly take it :)

  • @Juzzi5 Yes, you'd be getting one made in the U.S. then. The rest of us get the ones made in China. Good bikes still; just not as well made.

  • I will take one .. shall i send you the shipping address?

  • Whoa. Just checked Cervelo's website and the S5 frame set is $3800, not $3K as it says on the first page. And the S3 frame set is $4500. Huh? Really? Put me down for two, Cervelo. Thanks.

  • @QuirkCMHow much is it with Rival components?

  • @QuirkCM a complete bike is 3800

  • amazing.

  • I want, I want, I want!!!

  • Cervelo S5 with Ultegra Di2 for me please!!!

  • Does it come with an Audi?

  • So, I get that a hell of a lot of work has gone into the aerodynamics of the frame but I don't see the other component makers doing comparable things so isn't that effort a little trivial when it's undone by a clumsy brake calliper, levers, dérailleurs, pedals or crankset? And how do these gains compare to the loses from a rider moving out of an aero position - we're not made from foam after all. Impressive, yes, but some perspective's needed.

  • At first I thought "why would I want to buy this bike?"

Then I saw the beauty in the details of the new S5... I just want one!

  • Thank you Cervelo! Thank you for the great vid, and for making your top tech available to the non independently wealthy.

  • @3:50 "The S5 rider will finish a minute and a half sooner than the same rider on the S3"

    Whhhhaaaaaa!!

  • Is the price up yet?

  • @zenwohlers $3000 frameset, $3800 Built, is what it looks like.

  • @Livetotri With Rival?

  • @zenwohlers Only comes as a build (officially) with Ultegra for $4800. For Rival you'd probably need to buy both a frameset and groupset. The VWD version when released will be available with the high end grouppos.

  • 1st!

Anyone else notice that the S5 is listed for less than the S3?

    EPIC WIN!

  • @Livetotri Noway?

  • @rkan2 Way.

  • @Livetotri i think they did that so they make more sells, since they made is sound like its much better, people would already consider to buy it, and even cheaper than one thats not so aero, people would dig there hearts out for it, that could be why.
