  • I cant believe I cant find that there vidgey anr moar with taht thurr interveiw now thats I gots the internets.

  • I loved when the pretty places of kentucky showed the sky for the first few I was worried it would only show the sky.,.. lmao, but it does have pretty things.

  • i agree, i go to J.C.H.S. now, and i was pretty hurt with that stupid lady coming in and down right trashing us. gah. it made me pretty mad.

  • hell yes that bitch pissed me off when she started sayin that shit i live about an houh away from paintsville in letcher county ky you tell em

  • lol Im glad you agree! I know a cop from letcher county haha.

  • nice one tab =]

you and robert pretty much covered all the bases.

  • i agree with u 100%, i live in booneville ky. i do have all my teeth and actually have kept myself away from drugs an so forth, but im not a no shoe wearing hillbilly.

  • I totally agree with you guys. I live in Harlan, and apparantly were all hillbillies who know and do nothing. I hate Diane Sawyer. lol

  • I seem to recall her showing a guy who owned several coal mines and lived in a mansion, as well as a dentist. I think they were doing quite well for themselves. You do showcase some beautiful areas in eastern Kentucky. People there need to promote the tourism industry of the area as a huge potential for jobs and revenue and stop running off to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge every weekend. Folks need to discover the wonderful aesthetic beauty of your own state before running off to others.

  • Along with if it wasn't to give off a bad reflection of Eastern Kentucky, then why didn't she find some positive attributions to show? Also when you go to grade school here, you always have an opprotunity to get onto a pc or get provided one by the school. That's how I got my first pc in 98, Gateway. Their are plenty of opprotunities around here, the highschool (and lower schooles) provide hygene products, like tooth brushes and dedoerate and the works, along with clothing.

  • exactly :)

  • Ok first off to about the poor areas, one of the people Diana showed, the old lady with the trailer that had one side caved in , HAS A TANNING BED IN THE OTHER PART OF THE HOUSE. 2,000 dollar tanning bed, I was in Sign Language class and someone knew some of the people shown, some was poor yes, but most was not as poor as you think-they invest in something else besides expenses to better their homes.

  • Sorry, you are wrong again. 1. The reported was specifically on poor in isolated areas. 2. On the view Diane stated that 1 of 3 homes do not have computers. 3. On the view, she also stated that this was not a reflection of all people in this area.

  • She shouldn't have only focused on the poor area's in Eastern Kentucky and give the whole state a "bad" reputation.

  • you should have watched the documentary before commenting. Report was on the people high up in isolated areas. It was not reported that all people of Eastern Kentucky lived like this. She said 1 in 3 homes do not have a computer. You being so defensive to acutual reported facts, about SOME actual people living in Kentucky makes you look ignorant.

  • I was replying to what she said on the view...not the documentary. Also the report was not on "high up isolated areas" I live in the same town and went to the same highschool as the football player. Its not like that, we have plenty of opportunities. Its not americas fault that those few people choose to spend their money on drugs and not food.

  • Good for you two :) Gosh, she made me so mad. I don't go to Johnson Central, but I do know they have had the highest test scores in Ky for multiple years, and the academic team has gone to state multiple times as well. Not to mention Paintsville had the highest ACT scores, so we can't be that stupid. I hate how no one gets all the facts. I love where I live. Eastern Kentucky is beautiful, and they only saw the places in it that weren't. As I said, kudo's to you guys for making this video.

  • Great video guys, thanks for posting.

We feel your pain in Inez also.

  • Womerns and Mans like you two make us proud of Kentucky. You guys got some great pot up in those hills. Say what you wil about Diane, but I would make her a Mom in about a minute if she was up for it. She's still got it for an older womerns. Don't worry about stereotypes, everyone has got'em. Yanks are thought to be all assholes, they aren't, Jamaicians are all thought to be rastafarians, they aren't. The only true stereotype is that Yankees fans and their team suck!!! Keep the faith U2.

  • Cut down on the donuts and pop and you'll be just fine.

  • lol this is great. . . . good job guys!!

  • You seem to have a lot of advantages. I didn't watch the show and think about the whole eastern kentucky, I know her piece wasn't the best however; there does seem to be an isolated area that is struggling and has been for years. The ideology gets passed from down from previous generations. Some people had no idea that this type of mentality existed. I think children born in that area need someone to step in. In a country that has so much, children should not have to live like this.

  • Im not a rich kid but my parents dont do drugs and I go to college. I was talking about when she was on the view. I clearly said half way through the video that I didnt have a problem with the documentary. I do however have a problem with her acting like the reason those people didnt have anything was that they were so "isolated". Its because they do DRUGS. I feel bad for the kids as well, but we have a number of opportunities its all about choices.

  • u dumb, mountain dew lovin, redneck, no teeth, mountain children! how did u afford a video camera? and u know what a car is!? lmao...jk..yeah, diane sawyer made me mad too :(

  • haha

  • I can understand how they would feel offended they just had a different way of going about showing it. It may have not been the most civilized way but regaurdless of if she didn't mean we are all poverty stricken and what not that is still how people are going to think about people from eastern kentucky and I think that is what upset them more than anything. We have feelings and like a clean reputation just as much as the next human beeing.

  • Just to let you guys know, just because you aren't in poverty that doesn't mean that she was wrong. Its kind of stupid to assume that she was talking about all people from the hills.

  • oh just want to throw this in here for all those who want to rant about how it gives us a "bad name". I think you all just can't take jokes about shoes, I've never had anyone ask me about it.

  • and besides, people around the country are having the same problems.

  • The school is required to write letters and so on describing the lack of funding to purchase those computers. If you're mad at someone saying we are poor, you should be mad at the grant writers. But they do that in order to HELP better their schools, they point out what we need-failing to show what we already have. It's a lot simular to what Diane Sawyer was trying to do. Also, where did you ever feel the need to "show how pretty ky is", I failed to hear anyone say it was "ugly" on the view.

  • She stated statistics regarding the mountain dew issue and the lack of computers. I believe she said, "One in three homes do/do not own a computer", she was simply illustrating the lack of technology surrounding Eastern KY. For example, the computers that you use in schools, those are paid for by grants. Are you aware of what grants are? Let's assume you do, are you aware of the process that is followed in order to receive them?

  • Let's assume you're retarded, because I'm pretty sure you are! =)

  • This documentary was actually really well made. It was objective. And the response was enormous, people are now sending tons of donations to these people. Fact of the matter is you don't need Diane Sawyer to make you look dumb; you did it with this video. She was talking about one specific area of KY, never did she say "all the children of kentucky" or "everyone in kentucky". Almost all of the information stated in the doc. is stated by the people in that area, not Diane Sawyer.

  • um, they said in the video: WE GO TO THE SCHOOL WHERE SHE SHOT THIS. um, did you not hear that part? it was kind of obvious.

  • No, most of the info stated was edited out trust me i know people who did do the interview and stated maybe 1 negative about this whole place and 99 positives. Only the negatives made it in :(

  • LoL. I was replying to her comments on the View. If you werent "stupid" you wouldve noticed. Also I clearly said...my problem isnt with the documentary i havent seen it yet.

  • On the documentary it should them walking 8 miles to welfare inforced GED, HAHA. They didnt explain what they did with the 100 dollar/month gas money that each one gets for transportation. They didnt have to walk. And, if they were really going regularly to class, their worker would have bought them teeth for free, so obviously they didnt go enough hours to get the free remedial health to buy dentures. All kentuckians on welfare with children are eligible.

  • Great Job guys, way to represent us

  • ahem sista.

  • Wow you two are really obnoxious. Instead of being so sarcastic about it, you should be grateful that your not one of the mountain people living in extreme poverty.

  • Thanks. Actually you dont know me at all. I made another video after i watched the documentary in it i posted links to help the kids in the video. I just couldnt upload it to youtube because of the music in it. so i put it on myspace. & ill be sarcastic if i want. what diane said was degrading & made us ALL look stupid. I made this to show that we all werent like that.

  • She never said that people in eastern kentucky were stupid, she actually says that we have potential.

  • "We have potential." So we are all stupid, but we may have a chance of becoming smart. GPA 4.0 and taking college level classes. Don't give me any of that bull.

  • Look, I love eastern kentucky. I graduated from paintsville last year, lol. However, everyone is just blowing it all out of porportion. I never said that you were stupid, and GPA has nothing to do with anything. Your gpa is simply a sign of how hard you tried not how smart you are. Also, she was just trying to do a nice thing. Furthermore nobody thinks that we are really stupid and shit. I'm going to school in IL right now and nobody cares that I'm from e. kentucky.

  • but you forget that they had to show the worst stereotypes so they think that were all like that. as said from a Inez resident.

  • Okay, I think you need to go fall off a cliff, because obviously you're one of those rejects that has no clue what they're talking about.

  • I really liked how clear the picture is on your video. Did you use a regular digital camera or did you use something more high tech? Lol, my videos never turn out that claer.

  • LoL thanks, I have a sony cyber shot digital camera.

  • where I'm from the hollar actually means the like 10 trailers surrounding the coal entrance. my dad grew up around the ones in Virgina, but in the towns so it was nicer and stuff.

Thats what she needed to do, define the area better and of course not play it up, (but thats not what gets ratings) lol

  • Yea I know thats y I made the video to explain that there are better places in Ky. Its so annoying to go to another state & everyone you meet ask you a dumb question. Once in Ny i was asked if we had WILD Chickens lol. I said yea sometimes they eat our dogs. But Thats y it gets on my nerves so bad.

  • It does get annoying, when I left Harlan County in 1991 for basic training at Fort Benning, GA, I was asked if that was the first time I had ever owned a pair of shoes.

    Very insulting.

But there are plenty of reasons for the stereotypes that we get labeled with...

  • yeah schools do wierd shit for tv people

we had a lock down so they could film footage for the news after some kids got arrested lol

  • no i mean they were so health concerned that we were never allowed to have it during school hours. they failed to show the water machines & poweraid machines. & the vending machines with nasty low fat things in them lol. & i have never seen so much mt. dew in my life it was so played up. & btw i live in a hollow or "holler" & Im not living in poverty. She called us mountain ppl & said we were isolated which is not the case. lol

  • you guys are ridiculous, I didn't watch the special and think that everyone who lived in Kentucky was poor, stupid, and over caffinated, She wanted to show the real problems of the "hollars" and to show that this level of poverty is prevalent in America.

She wasn't trying to bash Kentucky or mountain towns, she just wanted to show what was going on in certain areas.

  • have you watched the view when she was on it last monday? that is what im responding to not the documentary...i clearly say that in the video.

  • yeah shes still talking about hollars not all of Kentucky, but I can kinda see how it would still piss you off

hey what high school was it that she went too?

  • Johnson Central its a really good school lol. & what is funny about the mt. dew thing is that they showed our soda machines in the hallway. We werent allowed to get one until school let out. They were locked until then lol.

  • haaha i loveeeeeeeee you robert!

  • haha, robert's hilarious :)

and that documentary was freakin retarded
