  • The Book-cadillac is an awesome hotel, I love every aspect of it. However, Art Deco is not the style of the Book-Cadillac. The art deco style can be scene all over Detroit, just not at this hotel. The Book-Cadillac is Italian Renaissance. The Main Lobby (motor bar) has Ventian decorations (Ie the pillars, wrought iron etc) The BEST example of Art Deco in Detroit is probably the Fisher Building or the Gaudian Building.

  • Of all the bldgs I've seen abandoned on the web, this is something this Canuck can really get behind. Possibly the greatest hotel in North America. At the very least, a new lease on life...

  • Good for Detroit

  • Yes, I was really happy to see that this landmark was so beautifully restored. Detroit is full of absolutely gorgeous buildings. Unfortunately many of them are run down or empty. I wish they could be saved...

  • OMG enough with the Art Deco comment! There is NOTHING NOTHING Art Deco about the hotel!!!

  • @Napp28 What qualifies you as an art-deco experet? The Motor Bar definitely has AD elements, but perhaps you're looking for ADD elements.
