Ancients relied heavily on inductive logic and they often have been proven correct by modern science. Perhaps if there were more scientists today that allowed themselves to entertain things outside the realm of possible (to our minds and science, of course) we would be further along when studying such complex subjects as time and space. I'm not smart enough for it, but philosophy is not just talking about your views on things. It serves a greater purpose than that.
