  • 00:48 forgot leopard geckos aren't nocturnal

  • 00:47 i forgot that leopard geckos are no longer nocturnal

  • NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT THE SAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's to small and if your gana use sand use calcium sand but still don't use sand

  • thats wayyyyy to small! and it doesn't matter where you put the heating pad either cuz its covers the whole bottom of the tank!!! use a 10 gallon or 20 long!!!

  • even bill horneck can be a dumbass!

  • it will probaly die sense its to big and stress out

  • That's to small for a leopard gecko!!!!!one leopard gecko needs a 10 gallon tank not THAT

  • the terrarium is small leopard geko poor

  • That's to small

  • Wait, I'm planning on getting my first Leopard Gecko this week and ofcourse i'll have to make a home for it first, so my question is do I need a heat mat and a heat bulb? I'd rather just have a heat map but i've seen people with both, the heating is only thing i'm confused by....any help?

  • didnt know they sleep at night :0

  • Poor geckos!! For one, a one adult leopard gecko needs at least a 10g tank; this is much too small for one leo, much less the two that they've put in there. Sand can be used, with caution, for ADULT leos. Despite popular belief, it's not natural to their habitat. Desert =/= sand. Stick on thermometers are inaccurate, the preferred method is a temp. gun or dig. thermometer w/ probe, which let you measure the ground temperature. Leos are nocturnal, and you should have one more hide, at least.

  • nooooooooooooooooooo sand!!

  • Wtf isnt it soppoused to be a long tank not high??

  • Why do they sound like teaching little kids?

  • do leopard geckos need uva or uvb lighting?

  • @MrTrooperMan97 no, but you can have one if you want but leopard geckos, crested geckos, etc absorb heat from their stomachs, so youre best of getting an under tank heating pad and keeping it at one side of the tank:)

  • O and leopard geckos need space to move I currently have a ten gallon take 20 inches long 10 inches wide

  • I'm more of a expert then them and I'm not considered a expert DON'T USE SAND and leopard geckos are nockturnel wow I'm gonna finish the vid and see how much more they mess up

  • This is ne of the shitties leopard gecko tanks iv ever seen.

  • never use sand for leapord geckos

  • helpful thank you so much

  • Are these guys experts because leopard geckos should not have sand as there bedding.

  • I am not a Gecko expert by any means. I have thought about getting into Leopards but I am also wondering what their ambient temps should be. I am not sure where they come from in the wild and what temperatures they can tolerate. Any advice?

  • lmao at this , these are experts? cripe i don't even own a gecko and i know more.i keep other animals like halloween moon crabs, hermits, 3 egyptian toads and a rose hair tarantula. these people are idiots

  • This vid is terrible!!!!!!! dont use sand, keep the temp at 80 degrees, and they rarely sleep at night. If you want to see a good vid on how to set up a tank check out my channel.

  • is that all billhorneck can say? thanks for sharing?!

  • what a f**kn' idiot. that tank is way to small, he said sleep at night, he's using sand as a substrate, and wow... just wow

  • bogus vid you guys are just trying make it look easy and you dnt tell us the most important parts and once we get them they die so we have to keep buying from you daaaaaa

  • this setup is wrong, first of all the size! you cannot fit an adult leopard gecko in there, the demnsions of that caige are absoultley innapropriate. for somone who is labeled and "expert" shouldnt they obviousely know that leopard geckos are nocturnal reptiles, so why would he say sleep at night? also there is not enough space in that terrarium for a cool side and a hot side, therefore the leopard geko cannot thermoregulate. you oviousley know nothing about leopard geckos..

  • Thanks for sharing with ReptilesTV

  • @billhorneck dumb ass

  • are they fuck terrestrial!

  • Exo-Terra calls that Terrarium a NANO Terrarium, why the FUCK would you think you could put 2 leopard geckos in there? its only good for like arachnids or other inveterates.. another thing, sand, retard. high plants, they don't climb and when they do they usually end up hurting themselves. that heat mat covers about 7/8 of the fucking thing, HOW IS THAT A TEMPERATURE GRADIENT? ONE HIDE? SERIOUSLY, Oh i guess it's alright since they sleep in it, AT NIGHT. 83 on the warm side? read a book, retard

  • sand kills it killed one of mine !! repti carpet is beast

  • where's the first part

  • You can get Calcium sand which can be digested by the gecko and is a supply of calcium, normal sand can be bad I don't advise it but calcium sand is fine.

  • @jonnojohnb Actually it isnt... calcium sand is worse! because it gets sticky when its wet... leopard gecko's stomachs are wet, they are atracted to calcium so they will just eat the sand. Fucking animal cruelty, your gecko is gonna die bitch. (it will get impaction) i bet you listened to the pet store when they told you that(: IDIOT seeya, your gecko will be happy in heavan(:

  • @danceunlmtd5678 I don't get them from pet stores because im not an idiot! I got mine from a reptile specialist and calcium sand is made especially for geckos so it CAN be digested! and your talking to someone who has many geckos and breeds them and im telling you now, calcium sand is fine :)

  • @jonnojohnb Ok well coming from a little 13 year old girl, who is grounded who searches reptiles all day. My friend used calcium sand and her gecko got impaction. maybe you are just lucky. I'm not even getting a gecko until April or March, But i research them (and many other reptiles) almost everyday. I'm sorry for trying to be safe with my pets(: maybe you should try it.

  • @danceunlmtd5678 I haven't had a single death for the many years I've bred geckos through using calcium sand on my leopard geckos, I've had the breeders on calcium sand for about 8-9 years now and not a single problem. lets me put it in simple terms: Calcium sand is specially formulated for geckos so that if any is swallowed it can be digested with ease. Normal sand is BAD not calcium sand...

  • @jonnojohnb I'm sooo sorry! That wasn't me I swear. I have been out on vacation, that was my brother. i understand about calcium sand, I haven't even gotten a gecko yet lol. My apologies ^^

  • @danceunlmtd5678 Not a problem, hope i got my point of view across :) take care

  • You guys are idiots dont use sand !

  • how is there supposed to be a heat gradient when the tank is like 10 inches long

  • what a dumbass

  • your leoperd gecko will die you have it on sand !!!!

  • The guy that says they won't eat out of there cage is right

  • tank is wayy to small

  • @MeetMaddie Check the size of the gecko hes got in his hand. No its not for that size! You dont want them too big when they are that young

  • how can you have a warm side and a cold side......look at the size of that shit

  • @waterdragonftw small heat pad

  • why are they using sand? Also that looks way to small for a leo.

  • @gsb92606 why is he using sand? because sand is the best choice for lizards, its soft and allows them to nessel into the sand for sleeping. would you like to bitch about impaction? rule of thumb you are NOT supposed to feed your pet inside his cage for 2 reasons, 1 it builds hostility towards anything that enters the animals living space, this is VERY true...snake owners know this better than anyone, 2 if you dont feed your animal in his home, it almost 100% garantees no chance of impaction.

  • @CemetaryGatesML if you own a leopard gecko you'll know... they won't eat if you move them outside their tank. They'll just wander off ignoring any sort of food you offer them. Plus there's always a chance of impaction even if you feed them somewhere else, they always lick random stuff in the cage.

  • @Longmachao mine always eats out of his cage. and second...licking everything in their cage....i doubt it dude. they sleeeeeep alll day and run around at night. talk to pro's and peopel at pet stores , like the owners...buddy of mine has worked at a local pet store for 20 yrs....never has any of the animals got imaction, nor has he seen an animal come in with imaction. its a very popular active store, with a retile zoo and hospital inside it

  • way to small of an enclosure

  • the terrarium they have is for crested geckos because its tller than wide. leopard geckos need a long tank because they dont climb, and need a lto more room to move than that tank

  • @gsb92606 i feel the same way about leopard geckos i dont have 1 and have done tons of research 2

this guy is definatly an "expert"!

  • exo terra made kits that size for tarantulas and scorpions

  • dude. get a bigger tank.

  • can this tank really hold an adult leo?

  • @Gehenna92 no expert village is stupid dont trust anybody except the guy with the beard and a colourful shirt lol

  • @SGBGT Ya that guys a beast :D

  • Your tank is to small.

  • Ummm thats not so good advice. The tanks too small.

  • That's a very nice gecko habitat place... perfect size for study desk, I've been searching for it for a while now...

  • @gsb92606 ha i no haha lmao he fails im same i getting one and watched loads of vids and care sheets and he fails epicly. lol

  • Wtf they need a LONG tank not a TALL one! They're terrestrial animals so they need more space to go side to side not up and down like frogs! And they need SOME humidity but that was good info i guess.

  • theyre nocturnal man

  • That guy usually knows what hes talking about. I'm surprised that he is using that small tank.

  • how long should you keep the heat pad on for?

  • all the time

  • they have good info but that is a bad set up its waaaayyy too small for a leo.I wouldnt put a baby leo in there I would start one baby off in a 10 gal.

  • @crazyliz09 ya then 20 long for an adult

  • they do not sleep at night they r nocturnal and there are not sides to that habitat it is so small and why use sand

  • bad set up. A leopard gecko does not need light and only a heat mat on one side of the tank not the whole tank and that tank is too small for 1 let alone 2. The rule is a 10 gallon for 1 but a 20 is better for one.

  • AND they need a little humidity that has no humidity at all

  • worst care ever!!! first of all u should atleast have a 10 gallon for a baby leopard gecko u can keep an adult in a 10 gallon too but a 20 gal is better. also u need a humid hide so when it starts shedding it can go in there and shed. heating mat is better then a light becuase geckos need to warm there stomachs for better digestion. dont use sand unless your gecko is an adult. but still dont recommend. it does sometimes sleeps at night, if its bored and thats about all i have to say

  • is that a good tank for a gecko ?

  • DUDE leopard geckos dont use sand in fact if they swallow that it could kill them! and also these kinda geckos dont use lighting cuz theyre nocternal and even though sometimes they do sleep at night the heat from the light can injure them!

  • just because they are nocturnal doesn't mean they don't sleep at night.

  • This enclosure is too small :S

  • yeah, it looks nice.

but terrible to a owner's inner eye lol

    but it DOES look nice

  • Agreed and nothing said about humid hides when shedding....but it does look good lol (Doesn't meen crap if it doesn't provide the neccessary needs for a leo)

  • Lol he sais, the the gecko will sleep at night:d

  • noooooo, no sand! Especially not large grain sand like that!

  • wow why such a small viv for 2 geckos it most likely cheaper to buy a 10 gallon

  • that cage is super small.

  • its stupid small lol

  • wots the dimensions or that tank?

  • This is a 30 x 30 x 30 cm tank from exo terra. This is to small if you ask me,

  • omg that cage sucks

  • wow. that doesn't even fit a baby Leo

  • that tank is just sad

  • lol just got my gecko today and he climed the leaves and rock background like no stop for 2 hours lol

  • how many geckos can u fit in there. 1 maby a half.

  • 1/4 of a geckos's tail cant fit in there lol its like toooooooooooooo small

  • 1. cage is too small 2. the sand is coarse and even if it was fine it would still be a bad substrate

  • what a small cage, thats sad. i would feal bad to live in a cage that small if i was a leopard gecko

  • it shouldnt have sand it can cause impacts, :O

  • my gecko have like holes into the " brain " on the side i dont know is that normal for the ears i think it is.. its the onlhy thing i can get to be ears by the look.. please reply

  • All of mine have that, so yes, it SHOULD be normal.

  • its normal

  • if i have a heat mat will i be able to put a 60 wat heat bulb in my leos tank

  • Hey, you shouldn't use sand cause it can kill your lizard

  • how?

  • Sand, even calcium sand can be dangerous if your gecko swallows it, cause if swallowed, it will build up in the geckos stomic and get stuck in its throat, thus causing impaction, which will kill your gecko.

  • shouldnt leopard geckos get a long cage not a vertical one? I mean they cant climb so this is small right?

  • does any1 know where i can get a cage like the 1 in the video? if so how much?

  • That cage is to small even for a baby u need a 10 gallon for an adult

  • is a 18"x18"x18" too small for one leo?

  • maybe not

  • haaa i thought the same thing

  • sgreed this is not a good setup. Yea the tnak is nice but a 20 gallon tnak long is best for 1 or 2 maybe. plus 2 hides not one.

  • tank is way too small

  • tank is perfectly fine for one gecko so cal down about the tank size

  • thats not a good setup, you need a longer one and not as tall and bigger, and they dont need a light, they need a heating pad under the tank.

  • u do not need a under tank heater and plz gues dont use heat rock for ur leapord geicos it will burn there tummys plz check out my leapord geicos if you have any question please feel free to write me a letter add me subsribe to me thanx

  • oh god this is not that good. Yea this is okay for a baby but a 20 gallon tank is the best for an adult gecko. Plus they do not need the day light they are nucturnal.

  • you do not want a tall terrarium you want a long terrarium (more floor space)

  • I remember my first beer

  • u guys dont know anything! they dont sleep at night! thats to small of a cage atleast a 10 gallon!

  • .. mine sleeps all the fucking time..

  • I'm not sure if this is right or not but I used to have an armadilo lizard and I had wood chips in his cage because the guy said that when they eat they can swallow the sand and it gets stuck in their throat. Maybe that was only for that kind of lizard. Just correct me if I'm wrong.

  • you have to change temperature at night to keep it natural you dumbass

  • Complete Idiot, this video is bullshit and should be taken down. Sand, cramped enclosure, incorrect temperature information, and Leopard Geckos wont be sleeping at night, they're nocturnal. I hope someone beats the crap out of that idiot and his stupid bimbo helper

  • 100 percent bullshit

  • Deffinatly DONT use sand, it is very deadly, and I have had 2 leos die from it, and 2 in my care who currently have it(I have a reptile rescue facility) This is NOT there natural substrate, they live on clay and rock, and come nowhere near sand. It can take a short or very long time to show the symptoms of impaction.

  • can you suggest a better substrate? (plz :P)

  • The substrate I use is paper towel. You can also use slate, or non-slip tile/lino.

Don't use newspaper(the ink content, I know its soy ink, but it can still effect them), also don't use repti-carpet. It gets easily worn down, and can rap around there toes, and take them off(leo toes are very sensitive, and easily come off)

  • u can also use repti carpet

  • tnx :D

  • instead of sand can i use paper towels? it said on some websites i can but im not quite sure =S

  • yes you can

  • i thought you wern't supposed to use sand as a substrate?

  • NO SAND!!!! VERY BAD!!!

  • water snake for sale! 175$ call at 281-999-45-27! p.s my name is jeremykd! shiping and handing

  • 123 shut up

  • i dnt no why people always go on about sand, iv had my leo for 6 yrs now and she has never been impacted. i also have this viv and it works pretty well, she explores it, occasionally climbs on the background when shes hunting and it has enough room for a moist hide + hot side. im gonna get another 1 for my other leo soon aswell, THEY ARE NOT BAD VIVS.

  • 6 years is not a very long life for an animal that can live to be 20+ years. Impaction doesn't happen right away, it happens over a long period of time when sand builds up in the system. Also, In my opinion these vivs are way too small...they are built for arboreal geckos, not terrestrial ones. I can imagine living in that would make a very boring life indeed...

  • do they have to have a heating pad?

  • no need

  • no body listen to these clowns

  • why didn't this guy go for the next smallest cage... a jam jar!!!!

  • Very sucky, simply put.

  • the cage is too small, and you sould of used a heating lamp

  • the only sort of sand you can use is calcium dsand no other!!! if you use another you WILL kill your gecko keep that in mind

  • Cage is too short for adequate temp gradient and too high for adequate ventilation. Try a 20 long. Sand is an impaction risk and should be avoided (walnuts too!). Lighting incandescent on a timer - 12-14 hrs. Moist hides are good - a warm one and a cool one. Radio Shack has good digital therms. Monitor hot end temp. I love slate over heat pad to dissipate the heat around the tank. LGs do well in captivity with right conditions. Read "The Leopard Gecko Manual"

  • would it be possible 2 keep 2 leo geckos in tht tank???

  • no causen that tank is mini

  • NO SAND!!!! sand is very bad for your leo it will kill it if he swallows it!

  • i disagree with like half the stuff on this video

  • sand is bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yea it is even calcium sand if you want something that looks like sand crushed walnuts are better

  • That is a big negative on that one, crushed walnut substrate can harm lizards and geckos. I currently have three geckos and four lizards and have NEVER put crushed walnut in their enclosures. Crushed walnut, when eaten can damage the gecko/lizards organs.

  • yea neither are recommended but you know those people thatHAVE TO HAVE something sand

  • For my newly hatched babys I use shredded newspaper. and for my adult ones I use absorbant pellets.

  • isnt that cage to small

  • Nice sand to. Ever heard of impaction? lol MY first Leo died not to long after I got her from the pet shop because they had sand in the enclosure, which impacted her, and she never ate for about 2 weeks. Finally died... :(

  • i know silly idiots using sand

  • It was even the Calci-sand. People swear it is safe but even the companies agree impaction can still happen.

  • calci-sand is even worse some say because if they are lacking calcium in their diets they will go looking for it, and purposefully eat the sand
