  • whats that brilliant guitar song called?

  • very scenic video, and awesome songs too! in your mind, whats the best tool a train junkie has? Thanks.

  • @runsk88 Thanks.

"in your mind, whats the best tool a train junkie has?" I don't really follow... Just what are you asking?

  • @widerstand ya know, like a backpack, knife, maybe a map or 2 way radio? I'm tryin to get a feel for this type of travel so i can get out of this dead town :)) Thanks again.

  • @runsk88 Oh if you go to my channel I have a few videos called "A Pack to Live out of" you should check them out.

In a nutshell its pretty much basic camping stuff.

  • hell yea! I'm actually listening to Dudio right now; no joke. if you're ever in L.A., you should come check out Project Infest -- look us up on facebook :)

  • @JuliLindsey Right on, I should be in L.A in February.

  • I love your shots of the stationary views from the train to the world passing by, framed by the car. In the Down Time video, especially, the long shot of the blue sky and the car behind you was daring and extremely successful. Keep up the great work. Strongest point by far, though, is your exceptional taste in music. I'm being introduced to so many bands just by looking through your vids, and that in turn makes me seek out more of your work. Cheers, Juli

  • @JuliLindsey Thanks for leaving such a nice comment!

I spend a lot of time editing and looking for good music that fits well. It makes me feel good that you feel like you came away with something from watching some of my videos!

  • where do you hop from

  • what's the name of the first song?

  • @gratefuldead76 The short intro or the first real song?

  • @widerstand The first real song plz

  • I have seen this a few times, each time I am just amazed, amazed! you have seen things and traveled in a way that I deeply envy. yours Earl

  • @bikemessenger7 You can do it as well you know.

  • w/ widerstand @bikemessenger.

I remember years ago i sat in jail for like 6 months, looking out my window every day all day, watching the world buzz like a massive colony of cancer bees my favorite thing was watching hte trains, counting the DPU's and cars, wells, gondolas, reefers - etc,. and decided when i got out i would go there and wait fdor one and ride it to where ever it went, never did it got too carried away with life once i got out - or so i thought. now I have and I'm realy living!

  • Nice vids man.....who's jammin at 5:46 though? I like them.

  • @lhpanther The music is by McDougall and Glassell Park 3

  • A very appropriate mix of footage and music. The first song is awsome, I would also like qwatae to know who the artist is. Greetings from the Netherlands, far away over the Atlantic.

  • this is a great video, lol & I dont mean to be a bother but could you tell me the exact title of the first track? sounds like mcdougall but I cant seem to find it on either one of his albums.

  • @qwatae That short bit of opening music is by Smaadmin - Piano Unmastery

  • @widerstand

oh sorry! thank you but I meant the first song that starts at :35, isn't it McDougall? I previewed all the songs on his site, and GP 3's site, I searched for the lyrics but I still can't find it.. if you know the song title it would really help me out, thanks!!

also your videos are great, lots of helpful information

  • @qwatae Oh that's McDougall - By Way of the Barrel Tree

  • @widerstand Yes!! thanks! what a great song.

  • sweet montage, man...love the bridge footage @ 5:42...cool soundtrack, too...

  • This is beautiful...I have something coming up in February that will determine what I'll end up doing for the rest of my life. Does anyone know of anywhere in Southern Illinois that's a meet up point? Thanks for posting. Anyone with an answer feel free to message me.

  • I don't really understand just what you meet by meet up point?

  • @shellystonespoop i don't know of a point but i'm interested in doing this. I'm in the Edwardsville/St. Louis area. message me if you find one yourself!

  • @shellystonespoop i found a rail yard in granite city (near STL) and an industrial parkway (in East STL) which i'm going to scout for potential "meet up points" in Southern IL message me for more details (i added you on here)

  • Love the ending.

  • Thanks

  • to my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've HEARD that some train hopping, transient, or tramp fare make it around the caves/camps in the Shawnee forest in the summertime for certain gatherings and events...I know it USED to be true, but it may not be anymore. Probably just a bunch of people doing drugs. Idk... lol.

  • Who are the artists of the songs in this video?

  • Credits are in the sidebar (Music by: McDougall and Glassell Park 3)

  • beautiful.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks Wider for putting me in the begining and end.. that was beautiful!

    thanx

  • Anytime buddy!

  • Fark yeah. Nice video. Great train songs, too. Is that second song "Highball Breakdown"?

I'm feeling another itch coming on. Gotta pack up and go soon. North, East, South? Look out for Shack... no gun, but he drags a kingpin under the train to git ya on the rods. Phantom 13 uses a rusty rail spike to the neck. It's brutal out there on the high iron.

Seriously, great shots on this one.

  • You said your a guy with a huge passion for riding trains, so you risk going 2 jail or getting shot at from a train conductor, I hear that they carry guns

  • Well they do not carry guns, and if they shot at me or anyone else they would be going to jail. It's not the 1930's anymore.

Jail is just part of it... Still worth it.

  • Great video, Wider.

  • Thanks.

  • I like this video alot. You took alot of great pics too! Good work Widerstand!

  • Thanks!

  • ya man, good mix of media, keeps it interesting

  • Thanks!

Your highlights video is what inspired me to make it.

  • do you use scanners when going on your trips

  • All the time!

  • 1:37 your on a train engine, how the fuck do you get 2 ride on those, do you work 4 BNSF or something ???

  • Nope, I'm no worker.... Just a guy with a huge passion for riding trains.

  • @widerstand well how do you get in the engine without getting in trouble from the bulls ?

  • You get on without being seen... As with most things in life... Out of sight, out of mind.
