the irony and great thing about this game was that it was vs the sonics, who at the time had ray allen. allen was and is considered one of the best three point shooters of all time and he was drafted the same year as kobe, thus becoming one of his rivals. i'm sure he didn't know he was going to break the record until later in the game but this is for certain, he wanted to show ray allen, he got 3pt skills as well.

I watched both these dudes in their prime and although jordans midrange shot was scary how accurate it was, kobe is just a better all around shooter, a little quicker in his prime then jordan, almost as good a dunker, but most importantly, kobe hit by far the most high difficulty shots EVER, even now. Hes just fuckin amazing.

He didn't have full possession of the ball on the first step, and even so the refs aren't robots in that quick of a play they wouldn't even be able to tell if it was a travel. You notice how not a single player on the sonics team even flinched after the play because they know they just got burned. A travel is 3 steps not 2!
