the original videos used were HD, but maybe when i converted the video to WMV format the quality reduced. but the vid still came up as HD when i uploaded it.

ok HD like as in which format? I am still downloading it i'll check the quality later.. btw did you use movie maker vista for rendering? Well you could use Aegisub to make subtitles and AVIDEmuxGTK+ to export to mp4 for top notch quality..
