  • Can you sell me some snake oil please Dec? I'm writing from Australia and we don't have enough here.

  • @phanoonki

    Sorry ....

Completely sold out of snake oil .... but we have genuine caste iron advice for success on the music business with success stories in 52 countries! See for yourself!

    Dec [grin!]

  • You sang with your Brother and John Stokes in the Bachelors. You never wrote/produced any of the hit singles or albums. Claims of "our 76th album" are rubbish, the last 65 or so albums not being hits. They have to make it into the top 75 to be hit albums. You may have produced some of these, which are basically your old songs re-done or someone elses songs covered by you, not written by you. So well done for covering your covers and putting them on an album again!!

  • @thelmoo05 I needed a good laugh as I lost a great friend this week ... funeral tomorrow ... the legendary Philip Solomon . I shall be delivering the eulogy with Frank Carson ...

It is said that when you get redicule and insults on the Net you must be really famous and successful ....

So to this person who delights in 'misstruths' and 'missinformation' I thank you .... you have proved my fame!

The other readers know the truth....

    Dec

  • @makehits Tell us all of a hit song or album that you wrote and produced?

  • @makehits Tell us all of a hit song or album that you wrote and produced, tell us all the titles please, because i have researched a lot and can't find any? Point me in the right direction.

  • @makehits

fame? dont be lame - show him your hits Dec

  • @tafxkz

I only reply to comments and questions on music.... I am very pleased to do that.

I could delete derrogatory comments but I choose to leave them there as the democratic right of everyone to have an opinion.

    Regards

    Dec

  • @makehits

it would be nice to show us some of those hits Dec, those imaginary hits you are selling us - show them to us, show us the hits, show us the hits, show us the hits,

Don't be democratic - crush the mean spirited derogatory comments with cold hard chart busting hits - ROFL

  • And how many $Millions can be made recording Multi million selling records world wide?

I must have been dreaming when I produced all those hits? [LOL!]

Sadly this commenter had not researched the amount of tracks Dec has written and recorded world wide.

Yes, I have made $Millions recording and releasing covers as well ... as have Westlife, Boyzone [who i advised Louis Welsh about] ... Rod Stewart, Cliff Richard, Il divo, and hundreds and hundreds of others.

    Dec

  • This man in this video, has never and i repeat NEVER written or produced a hit record. Do not buy into his product as all he is, is a man full of ego that thinks he is always right. He has had many hits as part of the Bachelors act. All these hits were other peoples records covered by the Bachelors, written and produced by other people, not by him. He has absolutely no experience of writing or producing "Hit Records". That is fact.

  • @thelmoo05 I must reply to your comment Dude. I have bought Decs Course and it was the best buy I ever made regarding what constitutes songwriting. Before I thought that I knew a lot about music, and the Music Business. Fact is I knew zilch. I can assure you that Dec knows the Business inside out. Eight years after buying his course he is still more than happy to receive a phone call and to give his advice on any aspect of the business. Up to date and pertinent advice I might add.

  • @Sixalienasa

stop defending him with lame comments and show us your hits, prove that it is his baby you are carrying groupie

  • @thelmoo05 If, ( and it is a big If I think,) that you are interested in the Music Business then to save yourself a lot of wasted time and money and effort, give Dec Cluskey the benefit of the doubt, and go for the Course. If you dont want to make it in the Music Business, then wander around as the wind blows you till its too late. Then when you start knocking the latest music because its all rubbish, and adhere to the time warp attitude that the music of the past is all that matters........

  • I appreciate your input and would like to no more about making it as a Rap Artist.

  • And I am the smallest eater in the world ... sure it wasn't Con?

Nice to hear from you ... and yes I remember the band!

    Dec

  • Dec, do you remember the eating contest you and I had after a concert somewhere in the north of England, where we almost cleared a banquet table of food including jellied eels and whatever was there? I was in a band called The Lorne Gibson Trio. I'll never forget that night. Was sick for half a day after.

  • Well what a nice comment!

I must say you are quite correct ... I do consider that making money in our industry is so important ... it is the only true way to judge the worth of your writing, performing, producing .... all the other good feedback on material is simply 'slaps on the back' ... and you cannot pay your bills with slaps on the back?

    Dec

  • I'll second the endorsements here. There are plenty of music business books out there, and plenty of songwriting books, but Dec's angle is a VERY important one that really none of the others cover. If you think the Lady Gaga is talentless and the the charts are full of formula rubbish, then maybe his courses and books aren't for you, but if you actually want to know how these "talentless" people manage to sell so many records, so you can do it yourself, Dec lays it out in every minute detail.

  • I've spoken to Dec several times during the last ear or so, and regard him as an honest, forthright guy...OK, so he rubs alot of people up the wrong way, but posting your spit and bile on here is testament to your own mentality.. Phil Webster

  • I think a lot of credit should go to Dec who at last, someone who has had a successful career is willing to share their thoughts and ideas. I'm sure Dec has some great advice and can help people achieve more than they thought they could. But if you have no talent, there's not a soul that can help you

  • First of all may I say some of the comments on this page are just plain rude and uncalled for. I am 41 years old and fondly remember watching The Bachelors on TV before bed when I was a schoolboy (every Sunday BBC2?) . My grandmothors favourite song was Ramona and to this day when I hear it I think of her. Good luck with the Guild and thanks for sharing your expertise... something which is more valuable than any monetary help.

    Ross

  • Ross

Many thanks for your kind words.

I have a policy of never replying to 'rude' comments ... I get them all the time - from failed, 'never made it', bitter novices who just like to 'knock' success.

My success is all there to see and the result of hard work, learning, study, practice and persistence. The stuff that the unsuccessful novices don't understand.

I feel I should send the elevator back down for the next one.

Said by Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey and now, by me. Regards Dec

  • You had a lot of hits in the early sixties with "your band" (no one else involved)?, yes thats true, just how many of those songs did you write? How many did you produce? You can't profess to be an acclaimed song writer producer, when you have nothing to back it up and not having accomplished these things in your so called proffesion. You were the equivalent of a stock, aitken and waterman group. Songs written previously or by a team of people then performed on stage by yourself.

  • teresakel7

Sadly, as the good book says : "all good will be attacked" ...

And as my agent always says: "Dec, you never have to defend yourself ... your career record is there for all to see".

May I suggest. as I do to all those who wish to denigrate me, that you not waste that time and get on with learning the art of writing and making hit records ... I presume you are attempting to get into the music business?

Who knows, I could help you ... as I do thousands throughout the world.

    Dec

  • You don't have a career in writing and making hit records.

  • Im actually struggling to remember you writing a record, producing it and taking it to number one. what makes you so much of a niche in the market apart from the fact you were once a (cover old songs) pop star and have aquaintences (that probably can't stand you) in the buisness? Hopefully there hasn't been to many gullable people out there subscribing to your crap

  • The Bachelors were in their own right very good, sold a lot of records and had their own audience and fans, they only had one number one hit but i bet the prick in this video will try tell you they had two. He is an absolute arsehole.

  • Not only is the course worthless, but your "money back no quibble" is not even worth the paper its not printed on. Don't anybody else be so stupid to actually pay for this pile of poo.

    Where's my money.

    Josh

  • It is wrong to make libelous, untrue comment. Checking our membership records you have had no dealings with us.

You have never seen our courses or had to avail of our 'money back for any reason, even if you don't like the colour of the paper.'

It is wrong to make untrue comment as you do.

In our entire history we have had 21 refunds. It is interesting to note that 6 were ripping us off... the others were expecting a 'get rich scheme' which our courses certainly are not.

    Dec Cluskey

  • Wow...I've been frantically searching for Dec Cluskey material on the web, desperately hoping I could find some video proving he isn't a total dick. I was wrong...I certainly won't deny that he knows how to make money, and if that's all you want out of music, pull up a chair and take a listen to him. But...jeez that attitude just makes me sick...put it this way: Who the hell remembers the Bachelors? Not one hundredth the people who remember the Beatles. 'Cause they made music, not money.

  • Hello Woundedplatypus ... I am sure that that is not your real name? [grin!]

Sadly most young people coming into this business want a career, a serious money making career in music. That is my area of expertise. "When you reach the top it is your duty to send the elevator back down" ... Jack Lemmon to Kevin Spacey to Dec Cluskey ... as the good Bible says: "all good will be attacked".

    Regards Dec Cluskey

  • Perhaps I have misjudged you. You have a point. My apologies,

    Woundedplatypus :).

  • fuck you

  • The ladies in my office were most offended, particularly the Christian ladies.

    Dec [Cluskey]

  • its the kind of thing a music college course never gives you

  • Thank you - I am glad you agree with my view ... there are few Music Colleges that I respect. One is Brighton Institute of Modern Music ...

My favourite story is of booking a sound engineer qualified from a major UK college and asking him to replace an XLR plug ... he looked at me in blank amazement. No one had ever showed him! And he had a degree?
