REFRAIN: You say you know the future, You can read it clearly; Cards and crystals say what the outcomes could be. I give you the palm of my hand, You read my lifeline; But do you know my past has longsince disappeared? These words and sentences, I inherited somewhere, But the language I speak has long ago already died. I oneday did forget, where I came from Where my home is, my land is, or the sound of my name
This is a wonderfully beaitiful and deeply moving song... Absolute poetry by the father of Afrikaans music in South Africa. The translation in the video however is not accurate at all and I feel it does him an injustice as it is just plain wrong... I could not let it go, so here follows a proper translation into English. (Cannot comment on the accuracy of the Dutch translation though as first language is Afrikaans, closely followed by English):
Beautiful song, thank you!

Final Verse:
The sun rises, it's morning,
All has been made clear:
My lifeline now broken,
My cards strewn around.
I set of as usual,
Seek food and a drink;
For a moment still drugged,
by the devils in my head.

Second verse:
I place my feet atop your cushion,
My head leaning back;
Searching for an answer in the darkness
Spirals of your eyes
Your fingers stroke me gently,
steals the stress from my body;
Your perfume and parched leaves
lets me temporarily float away

Firstly FORTUINVERTELLER translated into English is NOT Gypsie! .. It is FORTUNETELLER.
There are 3 veres and a refrain, i,.e. classis poetic Verse1 > Refrain > Verse 2 > Refrain > Verse 3 > Refrain
First verse: You invite me inside,
Into your darkened caravan;
With the scents of incense
you draw me within.
Could the jingle of jewels,
Grant me a moment of peace;
With the sway of your hips
slowly calming me.

Heel mooi nummer, ook zonder de Nederlandse vertaling goed te volgen.
(In de Nederlandse vertaling voor "palm" beter "handpalm" gebruiken).
Groetjes uit Nederland.
