  • I thought highly of Dan Fogelberg until he cut off his balls making excuses for one of the great songs of a generation. I still like him.

  • I saw this song a few times that year and can only say that I miss his humor, his style of play, and his outright talent. Cheers to you, Dan... much thanks.

  • And back to the video, Dan is the man!! His comments only show his sensitivity to women's feelings, and his sensitivity in general, which made him such a great songwriter. It also probably caused him a lot of pain (which I can relate to), due to being OVERLY respectful to the feelings of women who, in many cases, didn't care NEARLY as much about his feelings as a man, as he did for theirs. No apology necessary, Dan-we love you!!! :O)

  • @bookguitarguy His comments only show his opinion about something he does not know about I know Tim Hardin's widow who this was written for and it was an honest stable boy meets princess class fable that is why it is so classic and everyone and his mother has recorded it , it is a guy wondering if he is good enough for her, Dan is entitled to attache this to some womens rights thing but that is not where it comes from, it actually comes from the heart ,Where most of Tim's music came from!

  • @rakeuiff Glad you know everything about this tune! The only thing you've ignored is that once a song is a part of our lives, it can mean whatever we want it to be, regardless of the original intentions, or your personal opinions...

  • Awesome doesn"t cover it!

  • Love you Dan but what a stupid comment!, of course it is a given the child is the women's child as well , but the point of the song was did she from a higher social station want a child fathered by someone from a lower social and economic standing, the song is clearly written out of his fear of being unworthy! Sort of the stable boy and the princess!

  • He will always be one of the greatest of all time!!!!

  • It took him five minutes, but his warm-up was nice. Interesting treatment of a classic, and yes very sexist song. A lot of them were, back in the day! Everybody I've heard that has performed or recorded this song has put their own stamp on it.

  • @IrisMG Blah blah blah... Feminists never run out of things to complain about, while trying to acquire the money/power they criticize men for having. When was the last time anyone heard a feminist complain that she didn't have to sign up for the draft, work in mines, fight in Vietnam, go down w/the ship (Titanic etc)??? Dan wouldn't have needed to make such a disclaimer, if not for their emotional blackmail. It gets old after 40 years or so...& men are better carpenters than women, anyway!! :O))

  • @bookguitarguy Oh no, another irrelevant reply to a 5 month old comment, as if they didn't read my comment in the first place. Is there a block button?

  • @IrisMG Oh no-another feminist who calls everything they don't like "sexist"-just as Al Sharpton calls people "racist" & Zionists/Jewish supremacists/victims call them, "Anti-semites". Emotional blackmail is a powerful tool, for controlling those who buy into it. I wish he'd just sung the song, & not worried about any confused, male-hating, penis-envying radical feminists that might have been in the audience! :O) Now, "a lot of them" are hypocritical feminist/marxist bigots, who hate womanhood!!

  • @bookguitarguy Go play with someone else if you're lonely...grownups have better things to do.

  • @IrisMG Wow... You make such a compelling argument, I don't know what to say!! Oh yeah, FEMINISTS ARE HYPOCRITES!!! Ahhhhhhh. I feel better now. :O) Some of us think the subject of feminist lies & propaganda, which hurt WOMEN & children as well as men, are subjects that are extremely important for "grownups" to discuss. Then again, those feminist "grownups" (oxymoron?) who can't/won't admit the tremendous damage done to society by their distortions, hypocrisy, & lies, not surprisingly avoid it.

  • Miss you Dan!

  • Well, if he ever gets around to playing it it would be nice. Also no need to apologize, they will get over it.

  • he is beautiful too. Love Dan!! Love Dan!

  • I miss Dan

  • Thank you for this! Yet another Treasure.... as is Dan's smile at 2:11.

  • What a wonderful video! He is truly missed. They sure don't make 'em like him anymore.

  • This is awesome. Thank you.

  • Thanks for posting this. I was at this concert in the front row, just in front of the camera position (at least from the angle). Thanks for bringing back the memories.

  • @photog163 live in Brazil. I envy you. Never a show I watched Dan

  • my son's father was a huge DF fan and played this song on his guitar. Unfortunately he passed away 3 years ago, but I know he and Dan are jammin' in heaven. Thanks for your music Scott and Dan, we are both missed

  • Love this A LOT!! Makes you feel as if Dan is jamming for you in your front room - he is SO relaxed and enjoying himself. His facial expressions from 3.51 - 4.06 are a joy to watch - and just GORGEOUS..!! Great humour too.

  • I echo your comment about the facial expressions as well! Speaking of expressions, look about 6:25 for a few seconds.... he seems to be looking over his shoulder at someone back stage, and there is a very quick faint smile.... very quick, or is it just my imagination? Ever On!

  • Correction Please! I meant to look starting at 8:10 .... sorry! I am curious if anyone else sees quick faint smile there! Ever On!

  • I've looked at it several times - on small screen and large.! Can't be sure, I'm afraid! There might be a quick glance and maybe the hint of a smile, but it's one of Dan's traits to look in that direction - he does it quite often if you watch the vids closely. I can't help but watch his "body language"!! Hmm.....

  • Thank you for your opinion on this! You surely are right about that.... I can't help but enjoy his facial expressions and body language in addition to the humor and music as well! He is a "total musician" in every aspect! Some of us will be hopelessly DanFans for ever more! Ever On, My Friend!

  • This is my favorite YT Dan F. song, I play it over and over.... wish the volume was up a bit.... but I dearly love this.... his musicianship is second to NONE!! Ever On!

  • This is too funny! Just Dan, enjoying himself with the audience! What a talent!

Love this! "I DIDN'T write it!!"

    Love you, Dan!

  • I love the fact that he is so into the melody, and can't remember the song title or lyrics!! With Dan, it's was always melody first and then those gorgeous lyrics. A true maestro of melodies!!!

Glad you posted, keep any eye on the YT police! They are yanking left and right on the video's!

    A.

So glad that you decided to post!

  • It's a shame that we lost him @ such early age.A great performer, a great talent, and such a really great person. Thank-you for sharing.
