  • I flew in the 787 for a test flight

  • "We've added a lot of cool to the plane" for instance like not having me anywhere in the vicinity!

  • the reason most people prefer Airbus is because Boeing is america.

  • Both Airbus and Boeing are top of the aircraft industry Boeing has been around for way longer that Airbus and yet Airbus has nothing to envy from Boeing! I admire both compannies

  • @kuntipac - because their a300 fleet was rlly old. Tbey had them in ser ice for around 22 yrs

  • Mike is an interesting guy. very cool. I was able to have a field trip there and got to meet him. The most beautiful plane ive worked on other then 737, the 787 is awesome.

  • What is with that 'alien" face on the right screen on the instrument panel at 0:38?

    :-))

  • @dharmanova its a diagram of the aircraft. tells you how much fuel you have the oil pressure in each engine

  • @TheAppleMan100 thanks

  • Since when is the Boeing 787 a car? why does the autochannel broadcast this when the 787 is a plane and not a car? if it is its awesome but way too expensive..atleast it can carry the whole family tree lol..jkjk.Still the 787 looks like an aesome piece of kit but way too late, the A380 is already 2 years in the air..Bad start for Boeing..Good start for Airbus..Well done to Airbus.

  • @Thanhkim ya but they spent how many years on it? and how much money on it? and what about the operating costs? upkeep?

  • If it's not Boeing, I'm not going.

  • Congratulations to all the Boeing employees and affiliate companies, suppliers and airlines who have made the B787 program and maiden flight reality this historic week.

    Mike

  • airbus...just by the name makes me think they take a regular bus and just strap wings to it. i agree with shammypwnage

  • LOL you're stupid....Airbus has an answer to this and it's called A350-xwb......btw, your buddy over there is talking crap....airbus is safer and better...that's why it's leading company...

  • @dundotomo Then why did american airlines get rid of all their airbus

  • airbus is not nearly as safe as boeing

  • To ronaldbuffalo2

The 787 Delayliner is like a Cadillac yes,Cadillacs dont fly.A full plastic Cadillac.

  • "Airbus" is such a sexy name. Makes me think of a most luxurious ride.

  • Makes me think of riding on a smelly transit bus with the stench of B.O., urine and homelessness. Also with a passenger load of the folks you see on a GasX commercial.

  • noooo it shounds so shitty like instead of a car u say carrage

boeing is soo much sexier plus airbus steer with joysticks not steering wheels its stupid

  • Makes me think of a bunch of passengers with gas.

  • Better by Airbus A350. Even more economical then this 787 delay liner. Just as bad as their US car companies. Worthless crap all going bankrupt. Only Ford can still compare to European Car companies.

  • there is a difference between the Boeing and the Airbus...Boeing starts with a "B" and the Airbus starts with a "A"..

  • 787 is like the cadillac of all planes..lol

  • i don't get it? The 787 is actually nice.

Comparing it to a Cadillac is an insult.

More like the Mercedes-Benz of planes.

  • uhm...ok

  • @ bababush its more like a bentley lol

  • why always a competition between the two. I fly frequently and on both Boeing and Airbus since I usually don't have much choice. Both are great planes. I can't say one sucks over the other because they both get me where I have to go and safely. How about both brands being great??

  • @ChevyfunSS Competition is what makes these two brands so great. Without Airbus, Boeing would churn out another clone of some previous model. Without Boeing, Airbus would still make the same clones of its previous models.

  • @ChevyfunSS We need at least two brands to have competition to lower consumer costs. The greatness of both planes is a matter of opinion , but without competition we all would be at the mercy of the producer. Economics 101.

  • Boeing is once again talking Space Plane, that is a plane that will fly above the atmosphere at sub-orbital altitudes and fly Los Angeles to Tokyo in under ninety minutes. If the government keeps its paws off the project it might just succeed. But they got to fix this one first.

  • the intro ad SO had to do with this vid. lol.

  • can any airline use this plane

  • They can if Boeing can get the bugs out. It's main advantage is greatly reduced operating costs which is all-important since airlines are operating on very thin profit margins these days.

  • That's why Airbus has had 5 crashes in the last 12 months. Keep your Airbuses mr.dumbass...

  • I'm quite sure that Boeing also had these kind of cases. When a plane crashes,it's not necessarily the manufacturer's fault.Air France, for example, is said to have bad mantainance. And come on,that Airbus crash in Yemen! That plane was ancient!

  • hahaha it depends on the maintenance thats why boeing and airbus sometimes crash

  • I think Boeing would rather delay the run out of there plane than have it break up and fall 30,000 feet. Thanks Airbus.

  • what a stupid comment. Airbus planes are just as safe,if not safer than Boeing.

  • @golfprobro4eagles =( a 737 is my first commertial airliner

  • O.K., why is it that this is slated to be a whole different category of aircraft (other than just for marketing)? Why isn't this just called the 767-whatever?

Boeing did that with the 747-200, 747-400, 747-8 etc. etc. (using different wing modification, different upper-decks, stretched and compressed overall bodies, updated interiors, updated cockpits, controls, and avionics, etc.etc,etc.)

So why didn't Boeing just keep the 767 title, and change the suffix number???

  • Jesus, i want an airplane that will get me to Europe in 2 hours, not 7 or 8. It seems to me that we are standing still when it comes to speed factor. The one and only plane that could get you to your destination in half the time was put out of service. To me, none of this is really a big jump forward. We are still crawling along at same speeds, and i really don't care if i am more comfortable or not when i walk off that airplane. I would care if my trip was shortened by 5 hours.

  • They took "that plane" out of service because it was to expensive, way to loud, and there was only 5 in the world. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner certaintly will make a big improvement on Boeing. But the Airbus A380 is still a bit ahead. Lets see what the 747-4 can do about that.

  • You mean the 747-8I?

  • Concorde was that plane. However, only the rich went on it because of the pricing of tickets to offset the operating costs of the plane. We're still a longgggggg way from supersonic Jumbos.

  • i work with many of the heavy indsutries in Japan who make a large portion of the B-787. mainly i work with the sec.43 fuselage made by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Interesting plane indeed.

  • OMG!!!! 787 cockpit is fucking sexy!

  • Airbus is kicking Boeing's ass in the domestic US airline market.

  • 787 fucks airbus

  • Why don't you just take some wait and see position? I find this competition very advantageous to flying public like me. Before Airbus, Boeing ruled the skies. Now it's changing. Let's see who is going to be a final winner. Take it easy.

  • Now I remember. Side stick has one problem. If you want to fly the plane and reach some buttons on the other side, you can't do it without letting the stick go. While control wheel is in front of you that gives you much more freedom of movement.

  • Interesting is that Boeing preserved the control wheel idea. Airbus planes use the side stick. I read some place that Boeing consider wheel to be more safe, because you can operate it with either hand.

  • This whole video is bullshit. What really matters in our "technological age" is not a technology. It's money. In case of the airliners it's now much it cost move a passenger over the X number a miles. That's how airlines pick up the planes today. The would fly planes from 1940-s, regardless of techniligies, if they were cheaper to operate.

  • What they want is money. What really matters is passenger safety - i'm not sure if they actually mentioned this during this video as i was reading through a few comments.

  • No, they didn't mention safety. I think safety is implied. Actually all airliners of today are safe. To some degree, of course. Nothing can be 100% safe. Mechanical things do break. However modern design and testing methods can make them as safe as they can possibly be.

  • wow cant wait to see that plane and on long routes people rather the 773 cause of its fuel efficency over the 4 engine a340-500/600 model only company that has the resource to use the a340 uses it like emirates and lufthansa thia is trying to sell there a340 to buy 773 and i agree beoing should not make the 787-100 yet cause it will kill the 773 existance and emirates and qantas can suck a lollipop for forceing boeing to make it.

  • it's a great plane

  • 787 is gonna hard to top off once it's flying

  • @presnillajones:

It will be topped easily by the more efficient A-350. Let's see, whether the A-350 is flying first. Boeing seemes to have much more problems with their little B-787 then Airbus had with their huge A-380.

  • but airbus still have not made any profit from their a-380, the 787 already made a record in sales. we'll see if the a-350 even beats the 777 in fuel economy.

  • Airbus is only thinking about entertainment. In fact, airbus aircraft has been named "one of the worst" in aircraft handling (that of course being plane control for the pilot).

  • I don't know where you got this comment from about Airbus having the worst handling. Every pilot I have heard talk about Airbus handling have praised it to no end. The technology on board the fly-by-wire control system also makes the planes very difficult to fly badly.

When you have seen an Airbus A380 fly so elegantly as I have at the Farnborough Air Show at such a slow speed you'll see what I mean.

A Boeing may well have stalled.

  • We'll see about the dreamliner, however, I'm not disagreeing with you on that the A380 is a great plane. Also, You're right that a Boeing may have well stalled, ONLY because it is alot older.

  • The technology behind Airbus' FBW system is now 21 yrs old. It uses 5 computers, 3 where developed by one team and 2 by another to reduce the risk of a bug taking out all computers at once. The 5 computers are actually 10 computers with one set checking the other set to ensure they are working to spec. They are designed to auto correct any input error that puts the plane at risk. It's not 100% faultless (QANTAS has suffered computer issues) but it is very reliable and safe overall. Remarkable!

  • Really? How about all the stories behind the A320? There's even great video of the first 320 flight comming into an airshow---almost. The computers were found to be at fault and flew the plane into the trees beyond the runway, against the pilot's command inputs!

  • The video you refer to shows Air France Flight 296. This was ultimately human error which resulted in the people responsible being found guilty of mansluaghter. Airbus had issued OEBs about certain issues but these were not the cause of the accident. The computers where not at fault. Anything else is a conspiracy theory. If what these theories suggest are true do you think so many A320 aircraft would be in operation. I doubt it - The plane would have been grounded immediately by the authorities.

  • I never said airbus aircraft were bad, all I said was that their handeling was worse than a boeing. The airbus A380 is a great aircraft but all the other airbuses look the same to me.

  • What is a better aircraft for the long range market in your opinion? A340-500/600 or the B777-300ER? I notice that many airlines use both aircraft.

  • I would probably have to say the 777-300ER but ultimately I think the 777-200LR is the better plane. I think once the 787 and A350 arrive these planes are at very high risk of being abandoned by the airlines. Boeing is very reluctant to offer the 787-1000 despite many airlines practically begging for it as they believe it will kill the current 777 project and even damage sales of the new 777 replacement.

  • are u kidding me???? the 787 is so much more cheaper to operate, cheaper to buy, and fuel efficient than the A350. That means more airlines will buy it and more people will fly it. That's why it's the fastest selling widebody airliner of ALL TIME!!!!

  • Actually the A350 programme is the most successful airliner programme ever.

  • The A350 is more fuel efficient than the Dreamliner. Also the A350 programme reached a certain goal quicker than the Dreamliner. The A350 is also designed to compete more with the 777 than the 787. The smallest A350 will take on the larger 787 (excluding 787-10 which is not yet confirmed). Airbus also secured more orders at the Paris Air Show - I don't think Boeing got any.

  • But according to Boeing, they don't hold big orders to announce at important airshows. Anyways, 787 will enter into service much sooner than the A350. This should give Boeing efficient time to deal with any minor technical difficulties when the A350 enters into service.

  • It doesn't matter Airbus are still well ahead on new orders this year compared with Boeing and are still receiving orders.

Virgin Atlantic has just ordered 10 A330-300 (6 from Airbus, 4 from a leasing company) because the 787 is so far delayed.

Qatar Airways is also considering walking away from their 787 contract as they are appalled at the way Boeing are handling the situation.

You can't blame them really. The 787 has been more of a disaster than the A380 considering its size.

  • how caN 787 fly to 6000ft or more airpots (bogota, denver, etc..

  • I don't get what you mean. The 787 can fly much higher than 6,000 feet?

  • the CABIN pressur is 6000 feet NOT THE FLYING ALTITUDE

  • because they chose the SAME engines of the dreamliner with lower maximum thrust

  • The Trent XWB is a derivative of the Trent 1000 used on the 787 and provides more thrust than the 787 - it has too - the A350 is bigger than the Dreamliner.

The 787 thrust range is between 53,000 - 75,000 lbf whilst the A350 thrust range is between 75,000 - 93,000 lbf.

The fan on the XWB is also 6 inches bigger at 118 compared to 112 on the Trent 1000.

Not sure where you got the fact it has lower thrust when it's a much bigger plane.

  • airbus a350 has way more problems than the 787 something like a 3 or 4 year delayed date! 787 beats a350

  • Comment removed

  • This has nothing to do with development delays.

Airbus brought the A350 XWB to the airlines later than the 787 because the airlines wanted Airbus to develop a much better plane. Steven Udvar-Hazy of ILFC actually told Airbus why settle for Silver when you can get the Gold which is what encouraged Airbus to develop the A350 XWB compared to the earlier A350. The A350 XWB is not delayed. Airbus expect it to enter into service ahead of schedule.

  • Boeing have today announced the Dreamliner is delayed once again. This time because the side of the aircraft is weaker than it should be. They haven't given any new dates and no new dates are expected for a few weeks at least. This is apparently a serious setback now that could be a disaster for the project in terms of cancellations by airlines who are fed up with the delays.

  • Well it takes longer in the design process to create a better plane.

  • You all are dumbasses. Are you just jealous because the boeing 787 has already outsold the Airbus A380 by 400 percent?

  • Yes, the new Fiat 500 also did outsell the new Maybach....lol

  • Cre7tiv,

In comparison to the B787, the A380 is a Fiat from the 1940's

  • Yes but comparing the A380 to the 787 is totally absurd. They are designed for different markets. You need to understand the airline industry before making a comment like a that.

The A350 is selling much faster than the 787 and also S7 airlines have now cancelled a major order for the 787.

That's if the 787 ever get's off the ground. Boeing have delayed the 787 far more than the Airbus delayed the A380.

  • Yes I understand. It was more than a year ago when I made that comment. But yeah, Now it's just embarrasing on how late the Dreamliner is now delayed. Besides, I don't think that the A350 would be any better though. The thing is, the 787 Dreamliner isn't delayed because of structural problems. It's pretty much the economy. Who knows how it's going to turn out in April when this thing may finally take it's first flight.

  • The 787 is delayed bacause of structural issues. Boeing's partners initially delivered the supposedly pre-assembled parts incomplete so Boeing had to spend more time finishing them off.

Unfortunately, then there was a shortage of fasteners and a two month strike. Now Boeing have confirmed that the fasteners have been installed incorrectly hence the new delay.

I look forward to the 787 taking to the skies. I love both Boeing and Airbus aircraft equally. Though the A380 is my favourite.

  • Yeah. I like the exterior of the A380, as it is very fascinating to watch take off. However, Between the Airbus A380, and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, I must say the the interior of the 787 dreamliner, from the cabin to the cockpit, is way better. But that's just my opinion.

  • @IloveSPIDERZ not really airbus invented an airplane that is similar to Boeing 787

  • @kadajcool132 As big as a 777 and four fewer wheels. Airports will LOVE that!

  • @IloveSPIDERZ Even if it is 'as big as a 777' the 787's composite fuselage cuts down on weight, with a max takeoff weight ~200,000lbs lower.

  • @mnd0770 I was referring to the A350.

  • weight problems solved for every plane after 7 please no what your talking about

  • And the airlines will ruin it all by making the seat pitch too close and still have people crammed in like in a cattle car.

  • Maybe in the USA. But not in Asia! We strive to make it luxurious! :)

  • u have cleaner air inside the plane? wow....how about better food and water?

  • that depends on the airline retard..

  • I agree. I always fly SWISS from LA to Europe and they have some of the best food ever. Esp. in their business class. Just awesome.
