Hey man I have seen your videos and you do some great work. That's definitely something to be proud of. Is there any way I can ask you a few questions? I'm looking for some advice. Thanks in advance.
My brother from another mother...daddy got around. Chris, it's your old fitter J.R. from way back in '06 on that Smithfield job in Kinston, N.C. Good to see your staying modest... Still killin it.
do it free hand then i will be impressed, walking is a crutch in ways, also in real tight spaces, cant , i suggest getting good as you can free hand, then walking be so easy,
I have been staring at the little green light for 18 years. I am a perfectionist, which means i am never happy (not that i am perfect). all i can say is "beautiful" keep up the good work.
Have left a message on your home page, your welding is quite an inspiration! I am trying to learn to walk the cup in the 6g position but end up with under cut on the top edge. Have you got any tips? do you walk the cup up the centre of the caping run or resting the cup on the edge of the cap? Also could you post a video of the capping run without striking the arc so that I can take a closer look at the action of your arm and the cup and filler wire?
@KillaBackRattler nice video.im currently in school takin up welding.im just learning tig welding.i can walk the cup good but when i get to the cap i have my weld so flush to the pipe i lose sight of the edge.can you offer any tips to help with this
Offshore welders earn $2,775.00 per 84 hr. work week. If you would like to be an Offshore welder, or welder's helper, or roustabout, send me your email address.
buddy to be honest...stop thinking your a pro, Ya you got some talent. Nothing more. Im 16 years old and soon to be competing for number 1 welder for ontario's schools. In April. I've done a lot of TIG welding all 100% x rayed work, so i know when i'm looking at a good weld, and man that is one sweet weld especially in the 5g. Nice and uniform. Not done much 5g stuff myself, you got any tips on putting the root in at the 6 o clock?
bad ass weld men i only do mig and flux cored weld easy stuff u know but i would love to learn to weld tig it is so clean and u get paid way more ,,,,,,, congrats buddy

Goodlookin weld bro, been welding off and on since 1988, i'm what you call one of those welders who has to work damn hard just to get it half as good as what you do.
i appreciate that bro means alot worked dam hard to get where im at . got haters all over the world. but i dont let it bother me because good welders recognize good welders !!! got some more footage coming soon holla back
Its a great thing to read some positive stuff on these comments. I love welding but i work with dudes who just dont care. youve got some serious skills there mate. keep the great vids and help to the up and coming welders out there coming. Respect from Australia.
@WeldinMike27 you know what bro that means alot to me, and i very well know what you mean about guys not caring about the trade. and know matter how good you get theirs always haters putting you down: but the funny thing is thats what i strive off of lol. no ones perfect and as long as you have humble beginnings you cant go wrong. nuff said, and ty again brother. if i can help just let me know.

yeah i find a lot of tube welders that cant walk the cup trust me your not the only one not taking away from the skills it takes to be a tube welder by no meens i'm one too. i'd take a standard torch head with a # 8 cup and just practice on a table or any flat surface to start once u notice ur cup is moving foward your well on your way
Ive been welding for some time now. I have my state certs, vender certs, aswell as my a.p.i. certs. ASME cert section 9 of the boiler code. Now i want to learn how to walk the torch. I just cant find someone to show me how.
Nice work, Chris. Is that a flex-head torch? What size cup do you like for the cover pass? I've done a lot of TIG welding...mostly ASME certified stuff on pressure vessels. I can walk the cup pretty good in a groove, but I don't do enough of it to get practiced up at the cover pass. If I was a young man and could travel, I'd definitely concentrate more on pipe than I did in my 30 year+ career...been welding since 1976. Been doing ASME certified stuff since the early 80's.
thanks bros i weld amse to pretty much standard when dealing with any pressure pipe. yes its a flex head. depending on the pipe i use: 1/2 in.-1 in. sch. 10 a #4 standard gas lense cup; 1 1/2- 4 in. a #6 standard gas lense cup; on up a #8 standard gas lense cup; sch. 40 on up #8 to #10 standard gas lense cup. a good i used around the house was a soda can or anything with a round bottom and just practice walking and visualising its mostly in the wrist hope this helps bro hit me back with ?
very good weld, got some questions, is that 37.5 bevel? what size land & gap and what dia rod are u using. I'm great at all processes but have not done much pipe, stick, tig is good.
thanks buddy first off standard proceedure calls for 37.5 but in the field unless u got a QC that cant weld he's not to worried about bevel degree a good fitter going to take care of you anyway. when tigging i dont like any landing some guys do because it takes some heat from weld zone. 2 in. up i like a heavy 1/8 on carbon and 5/32- 3/16 on stainless because stanless will suck in alot when tacking eventhough u can use bridges to counter that. wire size dep. on the gap 1/8 is standard
its nothin bro if you luv it it will come never give up and never have to much pride to ask someone better than you as long as their not ass holes trust me i luv gettin next to them cocky ass golden arms side by side on welds lol
thats wat im talkin bout my brother i need to learrn dat too bad the welding skool i go to doesnt teach that but i hope to get training from somewhere one day
