  • Your Videos are always on point... I like how you always explain even the basic steps... on know its probably redundant on your end, but it really helps the noobs (me) out, I came from the EVO community so things are slightly different on the Samsung, But from rooting to installing CW MOD has been a breeze with your vid. THANKS !

  • @qbking77

I need some serious help here. i want to be able to update to el29 and then reroot the phone, but I have removed a lot of the bloatware without backing up stock ek02 prior. I found all of the .apk files and using root explorer, I have replaced them in the /system/app/ area of the phone, but now i am getting the sha1fail error for each one. is there any solution?

  • @traylunch It sounds like you also need to fix permissions on those APKs. But at this point, I would just flash the stock rooted EL29 ROM.

  • i root my epic 4g touch with this viedeo and is great but now am triying to update to EL29 but it won't let me.I yous triying couse thad update keep popping on the screen what can i do QBKING77?

  • @qbking77 So how can i uninstall CWm?I want to update to EL29 so i can use your laters root on EL29 to se if my phone get more stable and becouse the update keep popping up .Thanks for your time your allways respon fast

  • @michael801581m well follow my video on "how to install stock rooted EL29 on the epic 4g touch"

  • Hey I tired to root my phone twice, but I was unsuccessful. I also have EL29

  • I also have the el29 version and can not find the root for the new update. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks i am trying not to brick this thing and don't want to try the regular way if not sure

  • Nevermind, I finally figured it out. One of your other videos helped. Thanks!

  • I had rooted my phone but an update from Sprint removed it. The superuser app won't uninstall. I've tried a factory reset and it's still there. I've tried using root uninstaller and it says, "can't get root permissions." I've also tried Root App Delete and Super Manager and neither of these apps will remove superuser. Please help. Thanks

  • @qbking77 it wont let me root what do use to root el29

  • @qbking77 can you make a tutorial about how to root ek29 thanks

  • is there anyway that i can re root because of the new el29 update super user and wifi tether are not working thanx

  • @ventusbrawler46 You can download the all in one rooted ROM/Odin combo's that SFHUB has posted on XDA etc. They have an all in one stock ROM/radio and there are even ones that won't touch your data

  • I've had it working but the new el29 update removed the root. if you can update or find a new way to root i need it. i still have superuser and wifi teather just need the root.

  • this definetely is not orking for me, just got a new white version eko2, yet hen im connected to cpu the terminal only says waiting for device to connect even after all steps have been followed, ill try again tomorrow i guess

  • i download the file to root it and dont know to get it as a .zip file. help me if you can

  • has anyone had any problem with their wifi?

  • THX A LOT!!!! this method really works :)

  • how mush is this phone ' ??

  • :( mine won't root...it says it's unable to have access, and it wont go through...i tried several times already :'(

  • @WillJayDad Thanks! I just followed sfhub's instructions on XDA to root EL29 and it worked perfectly!

  • WHEN I ROOT IT IT DOESNT LET ME USE WIFI HELP OUT PLZ?

  • Hello King, again... i'm still having issues with mi WiFi, is not WiFi tethering what i want, I already have it installed, the issue is every time i turn on my WiFi it turns on and then turns off by it self.

  • if coming from another phone ie evo 4g will my TB on sd card still be good after rooting epic 4g touch if i try to backup/restore apps via TB?

  • @kchitown1977 Your App data will probably be okay to restore using TB, not system data or settings though.

  • I have not yet rooted my phone and my phone is now asking if I want to update to EL29? How should I proceed? Should I root it and then attempt updating to EL29, or vice versa? Thanks for all your help already, and any more you provide in advance.

  • @crang4 If you are not already rooted, you may as well take the update via the OTA. If you want root afterwards, sfhub posted a one-click method using Odin that will preserve your user data. It's quite easy if you follow the directions carefully.

  • Will this work with EL29?

  • @BLACKFOOT12345 No it will not. The EL29 update plugged the exploit this tool used. To root EL29 you will need to use Odin. sfhub put together the files and instructions on XDA to root EL29 systems.

  • HOW DO I RESTORE SERVICES AFTER I ROOT IT CUZ I DONT GET SERVICES ANYMORE

  • @fatmac861 Try Settings > About phone > System updates and click both Update Profile and update PRL. If that doesn't work, you may need to run through hands free activation. Google search "XDA Epic 4G Touch hands free activation" and you'll find a post in the Modem thread that walks you through it.

  • nvm i got it working...FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE AN ANTIVIRUS (I GOT KASPERSKY) IT HELPS IF YOU TURN OFF THE ANTIVIRUS FOR SOME REASON IT KEPT DELETING A FILE ON THE DOWNLOAD. I TURNED OFF THE ANTIVIRUS AND IT WORKED FINE.

  • I downloaded the file from the link you provided and it says that the files are damaged. both the .zip and the .exe files that are on the walk-through on that link.

  • i need some help its not working for me.... it just says waiting to be connected and that's it. i followed everything step by step, please help asap

  • @cdevin1987 Try re-installing the drivers, make sure you have USB debugging enabled on your phone as described in the video, try a different USB cable, try a different port, and finally if nothing else works, try a different computer. My guess is your computer isn't seeing the phone, which any of the above might solve for you.

  • i installed a later version of the tethering app and it worked! thanks! does this method of rooting your gs2 work on other phones?

  • @suarez530 Nope, e4gt only

  • i used this method and it worked great...however..im getting popup bubbles on my screen from time to time saying "cracked by cep1us" or something like that.it also happens on my friends phone who also used this method.while he was using picsay pro editing a photo the popup appeared and erased the changes he had made to the photo..anyone else notice this popup?

  • @SONNYSONNYB what? Never heard of that.... you sure you dont have an app on your phone?

  • @qbking77 the only app that we both installed after rooting was "screencast"...perhaps thats the culprit ..ill uninstall it and see if it goes away

  • @Suarez530 I had the same thing happen with mine! I found somewhere online to change my settings in wifi tether to adhoc. This made it work. Wanted to ask QBKing77 about this and why it seems everyone's else's epic touch seems to work fine in their youtube videos. Also @QBKING77- You videos are the best and very appreciated. Mad that i rooted using Zedomax, you are far more thorough! Much appreciated

  • @Mremale007 You are very welcome

  • Update - I just read the forum and it said this would happen my apologies

  • Dude I just finished downloading the e4gtauto.zip file and my anti virus program kaspersky popped up saying trojan removed I dont kno if yur aware or if sfhub knows but I figured I should tell u seeing how u posted this video

  • I finally got it to work, i had to factory reset my phone and put the stock kernal back. I ran the program and everything works just fine. Thanks

  • i rooted my gs2 epic 4g touch using ur method and installed CWM using ur method and intalled my tethering app using ur method but my tethering wont work. any suggestions?

  • @suarez530 Try an older version of the app

  • @suarez530 I had this happen to me this past weekend! Don't understand why so many videos show the Epic Touch 4G and you and i had this proble. I fixed by going to the app itself and switched over to Adhoc. I found somewhere online not to let it stay on auto. I also made sure Epic Touch 4G was selected. Hopefull i will hear from the Guru QBKING77 as to why this is. I am on the latest version on the (rooted) tether site. SHOUT OUT TO QBKING FOR THE BEST EXPLAINED VIDEOS!!!! YOU ROCK!

  • I rooted and it worked perfectly but it only lasted about 28 hours. All of the sudden the 4g and the wifi don't work. I activate them using the notification bar and they try to turn on but then they stop. Any ideas?

  • @f6432 Try and unroot and re root

  • Will this screw up my wifi? or was it only that other guy.

  • @Tchang2685 That was the other guy. Your wifi will be fine with this method :)

  • hey man great video, i got a question for you i am kinda a idiot when it comes to this stuff but how do i get the free hotspot

  • @awesomesp1man Follow my video i link to in the description

  • @qbking77 thank you!

  • Thanks for the videos! I finally get to have free tethering. :)

  • look man I'm trying to do this with my mac all this dam info seems to be for pc and its frustrating... can sum body help me out!!? just need some simple steps for ho to root my epic with a mac...

  • @Jhazzaire GET A PC :)

  • Question I've been trying to do this whole process but it won't pass the screen that says "waiting for device to be connected" I've had it waiting for about an hour and without this root process I can't install clockworkmod or the vcs rom. PLEASE HELP ME!

  • @CarlitosWay84dc Im having the same problem can anyone help?

  • @fogar8921 Figured it out, I actually didnt have the drivers installed on my pc.

  • Comment removed

  • Tried to flash the stock kernal with odin and still the phone wont go past the 4G splash screen

  • Tried to run the root with the superuser downloaded a couple of times and then without superuser installed and still nothing. Now it's stuck at the 4G splash screen...

  • for some reason i can't root my el26.

  • This will not fix the no wifi issue im assuming ? I was able to root successfully but still have no wifi. : (

  • @MrTinman2425 Follow my video to install CWM and it will fix wifi

  • Under the status of ZERG on previous few lines ....waiting for device....it finds the device then says /data/local/tmp/sh: permission denied. I run the rest of the process and it says complete and the phone resets but no superuser and no root even trying to go to the market and installing it manually. When that didn't work i uninstalled it and tried the process several times and still nothing.

  • I went through the steps but I'm still not rooted and no superuser shows up. Any suggestions??

  • @techjunkie860 Try running it again... after you run it install superuser from the market and see if that helps. If not, try a different cable

  • Does anyone know if this will work on the Samsung Epic 4G 1? (Not the Touch, the one w/ the keyboard)

  • @sw1tchstyl3z It won't... follow my video on how to root the samsung epic 4g on ei22 gingerbread

  • if i use this method to root my sprint galaxy s2, can i still use ODEN software to UNROOT/UNROOT the phone back?

  • @towncop1978 Yep you have to use odin to unroot

  • @qbking that's the thing I'm not rooted.. just regular go launcher and etc

  • @GoGoBeatsBumpin Ohhhh, no it doesn't need to be stock. Just go ahead and follow the video and you'll be rooted

  • did your install; I have 2 problems. 1. eariler before i found you, i installed a different kernnal, and lost my wifi. is there a way to get my original kernnal back? my dumb ass never saved nothing.

  • @dcon692 Follow my video on how to install CWM. Should fix your wifi. If it doesn't, let me know

  • Does the phone have to be stock to do this?

  • @GoGoBeatsBumpin If you're already rooted, why do you need to do this?

  • PLEASE make a video about how to silence that annoyingly loud and obnoxious camera shutter sound for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic.

  • @jungdalgi If you have the Epic 4G Touch, the shutter sound option is in the settings when you enter your camera... Open settings, hit the spanner for more menu options, and shutter sounds is right there. Three different sounds, and the off setting.

In the future, please actually TRY to solve your own problems before bugging a YouTube user. Seriously. Just opening your settings or using Google would have answered your question.

  • @cobaltlesieg i did look and found no option for the sound thats why im asking. and if you search on google they say to make a file called local.prop and add a line with "ro.camera.sound.forced = 0" in the data file. that didnt work for me.

  • @cobaltlesieg ill read you all of the options off of settings i have: self shot, flash, shooting mode, scene mode, exposure value, focus mode, timer, effects, resolution, white balance, iso, metering, outdoor visibility, anti-shake, auto contrast, blink detection, guidelines, review, image quality, gps tag, storage, reset. i didnt skip any.

  • @jungdalgi Huh... My Epic has the option. Galaxy S2, Epic 4G for Sprint? Are you sure its fully updated?

  • @cobaltlesieg i found a solution! :D /system/media/audio/ui and rename all the camera sounds. it works!!

and yes im fully updated. i just bought the phone like two days ago. but thanks for answering ^^

  • i just bought the Samsung Galaxy S II what does the superuser do :o?

  • @ngh1814 It allows your phone to have superuser permissions once rooted. Just google "what does rooting your phone mean"

  • also in the e4gtauto file, it did not have the "RUNFIRST.bat" it only said "RUNFIRST"

  • @BigCrump13 Try installing superuser from the market and check if you have root access.... if that doesn't work, run the root method again.

  • I followed all these steps, and my phone rebooted like it should have, but when it cam back on, there was no super user application

  • Excellent video! Got root access on my phone in less than 15 minutes!

  • thebatch file starts installing then gets stuck at sleeping for a bit(40s) help!!!!

  • Didn't work for me, followed all the instructions installed usb drivers... then plugged in phone with usb debugging checked, driver install failed... tried to connect without usb debugging and then back on, got it to install drivers fine one time, then ran the automated root package, looks like it was going to work then after running the root, it said it was going to reboot, then just said waiting for device to connect which it never did, tried for a few hours to get it to work with no luck

  • @joeylovedotcom Reinstall drivers and then replug it in

  • King, cant get autoroot to recognize my sprint epic. drivers installed, computer recognizes it, Odin recognizes it. usb debug on. Can i root the old way thru Odin?

  • go past*

  • command prompt wont go waiting for device to be connected... installed drivers and everything. rooted my epic 4g with odin and worked fine. debugging is enabled and storage is off... ?

  • @solteszb same here.

  • @solteszb @TomCo11ins Try checking allow mock locations... see if that makes a difference

  • this is boobs! Thumbs up!

  • Great Great Great video. Very good instructions.

  • Great video! This worked perfectly. Same goes for your Root video.

  • How do I get it on my phone though its not plugged in nor do u tell me to thru ur video u just say get it to ur SD card internel or external but don't say how it doesn't just show up on there.

  • @shortdom107 ohhh.. plug your phone into your PC, and then hit mount, and then just click and drag the zip file onto your phone

  • Yes I have clockworkmod but it just doesn't just show up in the phone I can't get it to my SD card......or its not in the phone

  • @shortdom107 maybe try hitting choose zip from internal sd instead of just sd

  • Can I root while on EL29?

  • @Jrizza277 Not with this method, you'll need to flash a custom kernel

  • How do u flash roms rooting and unrooting unbricking and everything else is easy including Odin is easy but when it comes to getting the file over to ur phone or SD card I have so much trouble.

  • @shortdom107 Well do you have clockworkmod installed? If so, why don't you just install the rom file from your phone? If it says download unsuccessful, either get the app "download all files" from the market, or use dolphin browser.

  • Tried installing CWM using the method you mentioned above - seemed to install okay, but every time I end up in the android system recovery instead of CWM. What am I doing wrong? I already rooted using option "A" and am on EK02, so I selected option "E" after "C".

  • @gmtom1 Never mind - I just unrooted and re-rooted and it seems to have worked. On to flashing a Rom now!

  • @gmtom1 Awesome! Glad you got it.

  • with rooting it, does it reset my phone, and all my apps i have be gone?

  • @LoveAdore Nope all apps will be there. No data gets wiped.

  • @qbking77 THANKS , and how do i make sure my usb storage is disabled?

  • is it unlocked ? like can you use it on AT&T

  • @PresidentGage No... CDMA phones can't work on GSM networks (TMO ATT)

  • how do you change the installation destination to the 32bit program folder?

  • I can not find my phone, I downloaded the driver and the zip file, it gets to where it's looking for my phone and not find it. help?

  • @kristyakay Try a different cable/different usb port

  • i rooted the phone a few days ago and it worked perfectly, but now it keeps shutting down randomly and idk why thats happened. any suggestions?

  • @vickapatel Strange..... Try unrooting the phone and re rooting. (it SHOULDN'T) erase any data

  • Can i root by only using my phone because i dont have internet connection

  • @bossgmane Unfortunately, no.

  • @bossgmane Try and download the files to your phone, transfer them to your PC and then follow the vid

  • How long did it take to root?

  • @majortankzTF2 It takes a few minutes. Be patient

  • Seem it makes the 4G to go in and out...

  • @thestingerman5991 Watch my updated video..

  • Thank you so much, you made it so easy. Rooting has come along way.... Havent tested too much just installed CWM and was wondering if it was normal that all my info and data ie, contacts, apps, etc are still there. Not complaining, just making sure I didn't miss something. Not sure How I could have, lol, however, it is late, and its dark in here....I will resort to also saying the sun was in my eyes if you do conclude that I did miss a step somewhere (:

    Thanks, Jen

  • @ferfy1967 Yep that is normal :)

  • If you have already downloaded apps, music, etc. does it matter? Will you have to redownload them or erase them before rooting?

  • @wafflequiz Nope nothing will be erased

  • My wifi is not working.. It says error when i try and turn it on. Can someone help me

  • @yaniel06 Reboot your phone

  • my phone is not connecting to push the root files

  • @melichibi94 Do you have samsung kies installed?

  • I rooted and installed cwm on my epic 4g touch. And dowloaded wifi app from ur site. But my phone isnt showing on the network. Plus my wifi doesnt work now.help pls

  • @andres22420 Follow my most updated video to install clockwrokmod.. should fix wifi... as for tethering... unfortunately not all pc's can connect to our device due to ad hoc networks.. the only way to get it working is to flash a rom and you will have native hotspot working

  • Thank you worked like a charm!!

  • Anybody get this working on XP 64bit? Damn thing always seems to give me problems.

  • @lopezpm I'm wondering if it doesn't like XP

  • PROBLEM SOLVED! i did a whole mess of things (go to the FAQs of the XDA forum on the video description). But ultimately, what i think worked was just rebooting my laptop -_- lol. now Clockworkmod time :)

  • thanks Dude simple :)

  • the commandpromt would just quit whenever i type in C in it....what do i do?

  • lol the starcraft reference XD

  • @qbking77 It isn't letting me download the superuser and the kernnel hasn't changed. Am I doing something wrong? I tried to do the wifi app and it said that the phone wasn't rooted. Very confused.

  • I tried to do the wifi app and it said that the phone wasn't rooted. Very confused.

  • It isn't letting me download the superuser and the kernnel hasn't changed. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Mine did the same thing, I had to update my computers drivers, then tried again and my device was recognized.

  • Im trying this right now and its just stuck on "waiting for device to be connected" i enabled debugging and didnt enable USB Storage, i also downloaded the drivers and installed. seems weird :/

  • Hi I need help. I followed all the steps my phone rebooted but no superuser app or root i think. what did i do wrong?

  • @solis01r Try and run it again. If it doesnt work the second time, install superuser from the market

  • @qbking77 ok i did install from market but when i open superuser app it doesnt ask me for super user permissions.....not sure if i missed something

  • @solis01r Download the app titanium backup and open it and see if it asks for permissions

  • @qbking77 ok i went back and did it again and now i got superuser with permissions but now the wi-fi tethering doesnt work

  • @solis01r Unfortunately, the wifi tethering doesn't connect to all pc's and devices due to ad hoc networks. You need to install a rom to get native hotspot working

  • @qbking77 ok so for that I have to install clockworkmod? correct?

  • @solis01r Exactly!
