Dr. B is amazing! Dead-in-bed syndrome has risen over 300% since the introduction of analogues (1983). Something to think about – is faster insulin better?
yup, type 1 diabetic here and WITHOUT exercise, my bg shoots straight up. However, low-carbing does help quite a bit. If i don't low-carb my bg sort of goes haywire, even with exercise.
Dr. Bernstein doesn't like pumps. I think their basal functionality makes them worth while, though. You can still bolus with a hypodermic if you really want to (even in your deltoid muscle).
@NyteNurse Dr. Bernstein is a Type 1 diabetic, he's old, and he's healthy. Hard to think of anyone better for your child to emulate. Best of fortune on your journey.
amutchall - I understand your feelings, but it depends on your methods. Dr B also gives us the info to help, and it is totally possible to get an a1c in the 4s with his methods. Doesn't mean we're all comfortable going that far (I use some of his ideas but I'm moderate carb not super low carb) ... but he has great ideas and is so motivated to help diabetics. Can't fault him there!
@amutchall If someone had cancer the goal of treatment would be to get rid of all indications of cancer, not some of them. Your idea of compassion confuses me.

I am trying to promote the low carb diet as prescribed by Dr. Beinstein on YouTube.
It has kept my blood sugar level fairly even without medication for the last three years.
I think the MAJOR factor not mentioned here is EXERCISE. I walk up to two hours EVERY DAY.
Anyone else with similar experience ?

A goal of 6.5 or less is reasonable and acheivable.Lets not try to set targets which will defeat the morale
