Sorry, it's cool and everything, but it just looks like a bit too complicated considering you don't have the ability to play it by itself as a drum set. you could get more than one module to get all the pads to work but that'll easily cost way more than it should cost in the first place.

@bubbletaps I used the xbox 360 ION brain and used mono splitters to from each pad to the brain. I made the rack out off the 2 ION racks. ( Takes some thinking of how you want it setup.)

Actually, I find this pretty cool! If you hooked up an Alesis drum module you could have a real e-drum giant! The only problem i see is that i think this would make the game 10 times more complex, but more like a large drum kit such as Neil Peart's or Mike Portnoy. 9.5/10 dude!

Just buy a Roland TD-20 drum brain and a kick trigger, and you basically have a Roland TD-20s drum kit, without the mesh heads.

When you play with this kit, do you have problems with sound depending where you hit the pads? I have a problem where when I trigger the pads on the edge, it's normal, but when I trigger the pads in the middle, its a very very low sound. I am using a terrible module (OSP DD-502).

If you mean WHY is that the best way, it's because you can take advantage of all your brains sensitivity and cross-talk adjustments, while also assigning a unique voice to each pad (assuming your brain has that many inputs).

If you mean WHAT is the best way to hook it to a computer, just buy a MIDI-USB cable and use whatever software you feel like. If you meant to hook up to Rock Band, I can direct you to a guy that sells rack mount GH:WT MIDI boxes for use with the 360

2 things are left before you can call this the ultimate ION kit:

1. You need a KD-8/Kickbox with a double bass setup. The feel is much better than the ION pedal, and it looks better as a complete package.

2. You need to get a drum brain and a MIDI interface so you can have real drum sounds coming out of all those cymbals. Otherwise, why have so many duplicates?

Awesome setup though! I have a Roland TD-4 and GH:WT Midi interface box and it works great.
