  • Martin Scorcese. Instead of filming has beens like the rolling stones, do me a favour and capture one of the few bands hat matter nowadays.

  • *5^^A=M=A=Z=İ=N=G^^5*

  • Joy!

  • queen played this live but they never did the middle part....they played the record over the speakers...so the fact the the flaming lips can do it, or even have the balls to do it is awesome. i'm not even a flaming lips fan i mean i've never really heard much honestly, but this is awesome. i love queen but they pussied out on this song live, big time

  • They didn't 'pussy out'. The middle bit had around 180 vocal overdubs as well as effects on the vocals. It was impossible for them to recreate the calibre of the section live, and they often stated that they didn't enjoy playing along with backing tracks, so they chose not to play along with the backing track.

I do agree that its great to see the Flaming Lips give it a stab though, they did a pretty good job

  • @newowned I don't think even Queen played that part live. The videos I've seen just show them playing that part of their music video. It'd be impossible for Freddie (or anyone else) to do that by themselves.

  • @ndschroede23 You may have misread my comment, because I agree with what you just said. However in later live performances they would cut to that part of the music video and walk off stage whilst it played for the audience. They would then walk back on afterwards and play the coda

  • @newowned Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was agreeing with you. I was just trying to expand what you said.

  • queen never played this song live

  • Can't really hear the sound clearly to judge it, but them fighting the balloons alone is worth watching.

  • I LOVE THE BALLOONS!

  • one of the worst covers in music history.

i am glad to hear that they stopped it.

  • Unfortunately in the summer of 06, The Flaming Lips chose to permanently stop playing Bohemian Rhapsody at their live shows. The thing about their live sets is they have to be very specific, partly because of Wayne, but also because all of their songs are synched to a single line of video projections that are controlled by Steven Drozd ( through that little monitor on his keyboard ). They all have to be played in the order of the video projections, so you see they cannot take requests

  • Seriously... QUEEN didn't have video projections and they did fine. This seems almost like an excuse. Maybe someone told them "you suck at that song" and they stopped. At least that's my guess. Not saying they suck but seriously, projections as an excuse...

  • guitar sucks. shows lack of effort.

  • @AEFic ummmm. drozd is playing keys AND guitar. pretty remarkable.

  • @kingpeterandrew Wow. That comment was from two years ago. I'm not really that impassioned about whether or not this cover is "good" anymore (I'm still bored by it, but I'm more mellow than my teen years). But for the sake of a response, I have to say, it's not really REMARKABLE that he's playing keys and guitar. The parts are pretty basic. Jason Lytle of Grandaddy did that all the time. If he were playing a Bach fugue on keys and a guitar solo, THEN I'd be impressed. Good day.

  • i love the piano in this song

  • have u ever heard queen's original version of this?!

  • hell ya haha

that song is a classic rock legend

  • who hasnt?! haha

  • A hitter!

  • already a great song........ but now sooo much better

  • ohhh goddd wish i was there

  • awesome

  • Drozd is amazing, multi-tasking the keyboard and guitar.

  • the best

  • BALLOONS! I WANT MORE BALLOONS!

  • where's Krusty the clown?

  • stfu you retarded coCK$sucker

  • i have seen the lips live before and they were awesome

the encore sucked though because they did a cover of war pigs

  • war pigs pwns, dont you appreciate their commentary on the Bush administration?

  • i dont like to hear any band or comedian talk about their political opinions

  • I Saw The Flaming Lips opening for the Chili Peppers. I thought it was a GAG or something. I kept waiting for the punchline....then they finished. Nobody in our group (ages 17-47) got it! Maybe if you're high it would be a little freaky?? THEY REALLY SUCKED!!

  • Perhaps the crowd was ignorant?

  • Huh. Who... um, cares?

  • old stuff..new stuff...can't get enough

  • A worthy cover

  • The flaming lips are certainly one of the best live bands in the world, voted as one of the 50 bands you must see before you die, and rightly so...massive hands, confetti, wands...just brilliant

  • YAOMGMFTFL - Yet Another OMG Moment From The Flaming Lips.

Thanks so much for posting this! Hopefully someone else recorded this with better sound, sees this and posts their own footage . One can only hope.

I have to see them live!

  • Holy bejeebus! I think I need a towel...that was cumtastic!

  • shame about the sound being a bit dodgy, but that was amazing

  • i wish i could see them live i love all of their songs

  • These guys are amazing. I love their really early stuff, where people said they were crap. I don't agree, every single album they've made is brilliant.

  • holy jeebus crimany... that was awesome

  • is music ,,,up up up

  • Just saw them in Berkeley, it fucking ruled!

  • And, I just can't believe they're from Oklahoma.

  • I'm wondering if the bombings gave them a new sense of purpose--like 9/11 did years later for all of us.

  • im going to see them on saturday, there supporting bob dylna

  • Damn I have to go to a flaming lips concert.

  • *yawn* that´s the monitor sound. what a pity...
