Gaeta and Hoshi being gay, just a ridiculous story twist, easily the worst idea the creators came up with for that show.

But they were smart enough not to incorporate it into the main show at least, credibility would have plummeted if they had.

They jumped beyond the red line BSG code for unknown space in the pilot episode so thats a bit of a continuity error every jump is therefore into unknown space

I don't understand why they cannot have one Raptor, e.g. Felix' friend, have jump after them? If it was a false alert they should know the coordinates they would have used in case the alert hadn't been false?

The thing was they jumped to the wrong coodrdinates. They have a concept on the show called the Red line and if you jump past it then it is very hard to find your way back because calculating a jump includes knowing point of origin and whatnot. And yes I am way too obsessed with BSG! :) Hope that answered your question though!

Thank you for the explanation, I think I get the point: If the jump was miscalculated you don't know were you actually end up. I guess the calculation of the jump cannot be "reverse engineered" either. So, ending up beyond the Red Line, which is unknown space, you can't pinpoint your location which you'd need to know for a back-jump calculation (as point of origin) by star constellations and are quite frakked. Right?

PS: Can one be 'too obsessed' with such a great show? ;)

It's probably because the pilots fly in the Raptors everyday for long shifts, where as Felix and those Cylons only get a fifteen minute ride. Takes too much time to change in and out of flight gear with every passenger, not to mention the gear is needed for the pilots.

Hmmm.... Perhaps for the same reason Eagle pilots would wear spacesuits, but their passengers wouldn't, on "Space:1999"? I mean, that didn't make sense *either.* I was asking EXACTLY the same question when this webisode began. I know that Ron Moore was a fan of Space:1999 (hence the quick-cuts from "This Episode" in the opening credits); maybe it's just a flaky little homage to one of that earlier series' many implausibilities?

There's Boomer, Athena and the rest of the 8s to my knowledge. Are there other one too? I've always had a hard time following them! Love this show and that they show Geata as having a male lover is great. Something which would have been very natural on Star Trek TNG but Battlestar is even better.
