I was taking a double major of English literature and Creative writing, and I see it only prudent to drop the creative writing and pick up a minor in something else. I am thinking of either anthropology, psychology, or general science if I can.

Anyone else in shoes like mine I suggest they do the same. Can creative writing really be taught? If you are interested in writing you can progress and develop your own ideas and methods on your own. The best way to learn is to read and become inspired

Don't trust anybody teaching people how to write, it can't be taught. On a more general level, don't trust anybody who titles their books 'Bill: The Galactic Hero.' That's what bad writing looks like. That said, he's basically got the right idea.

Interesting and I have to agree. If you are doing a job that takes your mind away from creative work, you actually have a lot of creative energy and financial stability to let your mind be free with ideas instead of worrying about paying the bills through selling fiction.

if you are writer, or an aspiring writer, ignore this entirely. take whatever job or degree you please. there are no rules to writing or creativity. do whatever the hell you want and if you do it well it will work out in the end.
