That's pretty cool...What file format is that? Could it play MKV files? How big were the files it played? Could it play a full 1080p movie (~10 gigs)?
Will this project be merged with Google TV somehow?
@metalmlo0352 it is using H.264 codec, so it is an MP4 container. If it had the codec for Makarov files it might. I would guess the videos in the video were about 10-30MB. It probably couldn't output a 1080p video, but it could do the full movie at 720p.
@Membrane556 It runs the same model CPU as the iPhone 3Gs, possibly at a higher frequency, no more than 1Ghz though. The A9 will provide up to 4 cores and multiple Ghz of performance
Video is decoded on DSP. Ingenient has various codecs MPEG4, H264 and others. Contact Ingenient sales you may get binary release to experienced it by yourself.
It's coming from the SD card or perhaps the Nand flash on the Beagleboard. And ALL processing is done in the Beagleboard. I thought that was clear when he said it was the BB, and HDMI monitor and a USB keyboard only. The demo is cool. Sorry you couldn't observe the obvious.
What grok68a is probably asking for is the detailed processing, i.e. if just the ARM part of the OMAP is doing the decompression, or if the DSP part is supporting it.
Background: the ARM part is usually fully loaded while decompressing 720p video and up to now the codec for the DSP part is not fully implemented nor is is fully working.
How do you get 1280x720? All I can get with Android 2.2 is 1280x1024, would I need to alter the boot.scr?

so with android I wouldn't even need to compile all the apps for that chip since android runs a VM - amazing *_*

How difficult would it be to BOINC a load of these together into a multi-thread (but teeny) supercomputer?

They should make a netbook with one of these chipsets.
It's playing video better then an Atom ever could without an nVidia ion or at least BCM Crystal HD doing most of the work.
It's probably is using a lot less power too. I don't see any heatsinks on it.

Wasserpulle1 did correctly understand what I meant.. Sorry for beaker808 who couldn't resist to show he hadn't understood my question.

Sorry that you couldn't articulate yourself effectively. I guess speaking English isn't your strong suit.

Where does the video stream come from ?
What kind of processing is done inside the Beagleboard ?
Without this information, this demo is rubbish.
