@SketcherMan2 Java Script has some funny rules that don't apply to other languages, which makes it a bad first language. You learn lots of bad habits.
@BlackwaterOpsDotCom very true. Javascript is the worst language to learn, and if there was an alternative to javascript, believe me the web world would ditch javascript. It would be history. In javascript there is too many ways to do teh same thing. The language is too flexible/open ended for its own good. Very bad langauge, but unfortunately we're stuck with it.
but python wins when it comes to rapid development.
I wish I had reached this point already. but I am starting to learn python now , and that's what Software engineers on youtube (and google tech talks) are saying about python.
In my mind, Python is the best first programming language of all times! If you are willing to put little extra effort C# is best option. But even then I'd go with python firs. Python is such a fun to write and very easy to learn.
Take a look at a Java framework called Play! It's great for beginners too. It also gives you a great insight into Java which can be applied from games (e.g. Minecraft) to Android Apps. Also other frameworks like Ruby on Rails. Python just isn't used as much nowadays.
php was fun but picky... like for example.. made my own database in it.. where you could make ur own username and passord. its been since spring of 07' since i have done that.. it would take a while to get back to speed to be like ya.. i remember this.
@JulioJurkevicz c++ is used less in Web Development... Which is why I compared to web technologies. C++ is a great language, but "hello world" on a dialog box can take quite a bit of work, so getting to a complete program can be daunting for new users. PHP hello world is just "echo 'hello world';"
@thepokekid01 Wow for a starting language?! I didn't know that was even a normal choice, it's so strange to me to pick either. Wouldn't it be more normal to do something like Basic, C, or Java? (3post in under 3 mins, I should probably wait until the video ends... before pressing "post")
@thepokekid01 I also have to say that you very much highlight the problem with the education industry today. Really, you should be a teacher or an educator because of how clear and precise you are with you advice you are extremely good, like... I don't know Superman being a professional boxer good. Sure he make tons of money and never loose, but he seems like he'd be so much better saving the world. There are just no real incentives for extremely talented people to become or stay teachers!
@thepokekid01 Lots of people start with Web Languages instead of C these days. Web languages are more "tangible" and you don't have to compile it to run.
@TheAuroraTechShow they're both the same...there ya go. all ya need do is read your history..( and no i'm not talking black history month taught 7 out of 9 months out of the year at public schools..especially in the south eastern part of the usa)
or you could just hear what Ron Paul has to say..he is the ONLY candidate in the past 30 years that TRULy tells it exactly as it is.
I think JavaScript would be a good beginer language too.

What about C++ as an starting point? Is it too difficult, too complex or is it a good foundation for other languages?
