  • Mcbuttster what the he'll are u talking about magic ddnt get worse he was the 1989 and 90 mvp of the league and of worthy and Scott ddnt get hurt they would've won in 91

Magic is the best all around player of all time

  • In Today's NBA there would've been like 20 Fouls called.

  • fuck you magic

  • Magic was better when he was young, then he got worse. Jordan got better as he got older.

  • Wow, what a game. Really nice post. Thanks!

  • oakley could shoot 3's?

  • MJ = Best Scorer

    Magic = Best Passer

  • 5:25 and only MJ can do that !

  • The Michael Jordans vs the Lakers, classic.

  • I think the shorts made everyone look taller lol

  • what an incredible pass at 0:38, only Magic can do that !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • News Flash, the Show Time Lakers of the 1980's were very very good!!!!

  • @KingRam33 The biggest difference is MJ reversed & finished w/his left just as easily & often as w/his right. Dr. J nor Kobe finished w/their left hand. Dr. J never even dunked w/his left. Kobe highlight reel has maybe 1 or 2 left handed finishes & Dr. J just never finished w/his left hand. MJ really had no weaknesses, that's a big part of y his fg% is so much better than theirs & his scoring was so much more consistent.

  • @c2g1980 I agree 1,000 percent Air Jordan had no weaknesses.

  • @KingRam33 For the most part, yea, but he at the same time he was NEVER a great 3 point shooter. He was capable, but never great from long range.

  • Nobody used the reverse layup more than Air Jordan did, he mad it just as common as the fade away jumper. Jordan is why Kobe mastered the reverse layup also, it's not because of his dad Jellybean Bryant. LOL.... Now everyone dose it but befor Jordan only greats like Dr. J would've done it and not as often as Jordan later would use it as his patented reverse layup.

  • I would've loved to see Air Jordan & Magic Johnson play on the same team between 1985-1989, this is Magic's prime when Jordan first came in the NBA. The 1992 Dreamteam don't count Magic was not at the peak of his prime I know he wasn't over the hill and had a better 3 pointer by 1992 but he had lost a step or two, speed, quikness and jumping ability. Magic is the best point guard ever & Air is the G.O.A.T!!!!!

  • "Jordan with every single shot he's takin' thus far today, has been a very difficult shot"

    Jordaan! G.O.A.T!!!!

  • INSANITY IN CHICAGO!!! MJ and Magic going at it like true greats! Kareem scores 36,00 points!! This brings back some great memories as I just moved back to Chicago from L.A. that year and was fortunate enough to see both these players "every night" when they were schooling the league! And The Captain and his unstoppable skyhook. Thanks for bringing this game to Youtube and showing some younger folks what these guys could do on any given night.

  • Jordan was beast as rookie against Kareem and Magic and got better over the years. If Pippen and Rodman was there oh man.

  • 6 > 5 end of story.

  • Once again I see yet another video of Magic schooling jordan, seems that's all I see on youtube from the 80's era

  • what are you talking about? Did you see how many times MJ got deflections on Magic...and the lakers are all paying attention to him everytime, magic had help here

  • 0:36 My god, the vision this guy had. Best passer of all time.

  • @Fripitto wow you are right thanks for pointing that out he times the pass perfectly too were the guy guarding worth has his back turned and the other guy just cleared out beautiful

  • Magic's passing

    Jordan's dunking

    Kareem's 36,000 pts.

That crowd didn't know how good they had it!

  • Magic had learned from Kareem. Magic was the best player ever and better than Jordan.

  • the first pass by magic was nuts. I dont know of any pg in the league that could do that nowadays.

  • Its a 4 point game with 2:00 left and the announcer says 'This is their last shot. If they dont hold them now, this game is over.' ?? Really?? If they dont hold them, its still just a two possession game.

  • Magic Johnson is the greatest ever. Absolutely unstoppable as a finisher and easily the greatest passer ever; moreover, he changed how the game was played. Then Jordan came along, followed by Jordan clone Kobe, and all the kids only want to slam and shoot the three. I disagree about Magic's defense: he was a great team defender with plenty of steels and a first-rate rebounder who invented coast-to-coast and was the catalyst and finisher of showtime.

  • @iambillym1 magic is great but larry bird is better and MJ = GOAT no contest.

  • @FreeBoosie941 Bird is so great that Magic is up on him 3-1 in titles, college and pro.

  • @FreeBoosie941 Dirk Nowitzki is the GOAT.

  • @felisberto2 lol are u high buddy? dirk isnt even better than pau gasol get real.

  • @iambillym1 Magic would be the first to admit that his defense wasn't good. He did though, lead the NBA in steals 1 season ('82 I think). But often, on two-on-one breakaways, or even 1-on-1 breaks, he rarely gave 100% defending them.

  • air jordan 2

  • Only the 2008 Celtics could compete with those teams. The 2000-2002 Lakers teams had 2 dominant players, but they beat schmucky teams in the finals that were a disgrace to the history of the NBA finals. After being SWEPT by Olajuwon & the Rockets, Shaq NEVER faced even a good offensive & defensive center in the finals. The best he went against was Mutombo, & that was after his prime. No way the Lakers of the 2000's would've won vs. the best 80's teams. The Lakers had 4 HOFers, Celtics had 5!

  • This video is all you need to show how much better the NBA was 25 years ago than it is today. There's no way either Dallas or Miami could conceive of staying with this Lakers team. Hell, they'd have a helluva time staying with this Bulls team. The Celtics, Lakers and Pistons of the 80's would crush the teams of today.

  • real basketball.

  • @TheWheels777 no, this is NBA basketball.

  • @TheWheels777

Amen.... Loved the game back then....

  • Guess who was the analyst on this broadcast? None other than the great Red Auerbach. Funny hearing him calling this game.

  • why did they not pass the ball to MJ with 1min to go... fail

  • Michael Jordan best sg ever, but magic best player of all time in my opinion.

  • @southbr28 Magic was an awesome passer and an good scorer but he had no game on D. One of the greats but not at the top of the list for me.

  • @southbr28 Magic said "Micheal is the greatest ever..." well...it's weird when i think about ur opinion...it's a pretty illogical one :)))

  • That pass at :39 was sick...warp speed.

  • Short shorts RULE!!! LOL..

  • avg 37 pts a game?? thats crazy...

  • omg look at this

basketball was more attractive than than today despite tougher defences and that's saying something

  • Those were the days...

  • man listen to those loose rims at the ol' chicago stadium. just perfect for dropping those line drives that mike shot in those early days.

  • Young Jordan raw talent, still GOAT in the making when people like Magic and Bird were finishing up their careers. You gotta be something else to give those two trouble while still in your first few years.

  • @myez

Bird & Magic weren't "finishing up their careers" this particular season.

    What are U talkin' about?

Both were only in their 6th season when this game took place. I hardly call that "finishing up"..

  • @blackadam06

I wasn't talking about this season, settle down kid.

  • Magic the greatest EVER

  • you hear the road crowd "oooooohhh" at :38

    best passer ever

  • Magic was a coin flip away from being a Bull.

  • MJ gets blocked at 1:42

  • @BigTimePride..I'm talking bout this game! he ripped him at the end of the first half, at 3:10 he pokes away, and then again at 5:48 he pokes it away, which leads to a classic Jordan dunk!!

  • MJ ripped Magic like five-six times!! and this is his really jus his second full year n the leauge!!

  • @stosmann...What are you talking about? MJ never ripped a prime Magic Johnson. In the 90s Finals, they had to put Pippen on Magic because Jordan was having trouble guarding him.

  • Damn, I like that by the crowd. Great spirit of the game.

  • @guspopov it's true that Jordan won alot more awards than any other player, but Wat u mean he only had Scottie pippen, and rodman? Phil Jackson is the type to coach who likes to give really specific roles, players like rodman who can rebound well, then only rebound, plus he can't get anything on offense against 6"10 tall forwards when he's only 6"6. The reason why Jordan could average 37 points ppg was because the main focus on offense is Jordan, every chance of shot went to Jordan, same as Kob

  • jodan beat magic ass

  • @wilzusuki It was Magic that dominated this game.

  • nba jam 2010 should have abdul jabar and jordan

  • man, the good thing is jordan's dick is big and long enough for everyone to suck on.

anyways, i like how people can come up with the idea of basketball played in 80s or 90s are better than nowadays.

  • @ihatewonders maybe cuz it was

  • @ihatewonders You are an idiot

  • @grouseydaryl to some extend, they are better, but are they better? no.

  • I wish the Laker team in NBA 2k11 was this one. Magic, Worth and Abdul Jabar. C'mon. They should make an NBA game featuring teams from the 80s and 90s.

  • Asian women for these holidays lushfmlk.info

  • @BrainMetcalf LOL

  • a defensive threat an offensive threat what a thing of beauty to watch.

  • MVP Magic vs Jordan in his prime should be the title .

  • How the fuck do u compare someone who avg'd 28 ppg as a rookie (michael and be compared to someone who aveg'd 7 (kobe)...imo it starts right out the gate and championships are not a good enough argument because kobe could get 8 or 9 in his career and still couldnt be coined as greatest player ever, sure maybe in lakers history which would still be some debate

  • @reid1709 ...jordan fans and there kobe hate..funny !

  • @fatpatlives1998 Agreed. I'm not a fan of one player over another and I find it stupid how people constantly compare different players. Great players play differently and have different styles. No better or worse. I think Kobe Bryant will be remembered as a NBA legend too.

  • @reid1709

Bryant was only 18 years old and he didn't get enough minutes. Please take a look on the young Stockton, he wasn't - incredible! - a starter in the first years. But he had impressive statistics in his short deployments: 7.4 assists per game in the season 85/86. Today that would reach for the 11th in assists per game in the last season and the 9th in the season before. Stockton had 10 assists per 36 minutes in his first season!

  • Jordan averaged 37 points a game in the best era in baskeball! Kobe can't do that! And Lebron would be average in this era! Some dude said Kareem was better than Jordan....you must be smoking the weed.

  • Oakley for 3!!! (at 2:51) Different time back then, 3 pointers were at a premium.

  • 5:25 no need for two guys going to block him . One is enough and the other should have just waited on the other side of the hoop and block MJ . They could have easily blocked him .

  • @garioldwin Maby, maby not... more likely that not. He would do 90 degree dunk or layup or smth.

  • cool video...bad carry by mj at about 7:19 though lol

  • Is it just me or is the passing a LOT better back then...?

  • @laepnud ...nah, that's just magic johnson on the court.! lol.

  • @laepnud Everything in the NBA was a LOT better back then.

  • damm MJ didn't do much lay-up everything was a dunk dude thought this was NBA JAM lol

  • is red auerbach commentating?

  • Yes! The Lakers won, what a nail biter.

  • Magic the greatest player ever . PERIOD.

  • @deveraux32 LOL!!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHHAHAH

  • This is the year Chicago fans started thinking..."Hey..maybe we can win a title someday...." 85 MJ was out I think and Pippen and Horace Grant came in 87...so it was actually cool (My dad says) to watch this team get better each year...He made me learn my MJ history in case youre wondering about the other. I am playing NCAA div 2 right now and watch alot of MJ tape.

  • :47

Routine pass by Magic would make most PG's highlight reel these days. GOAT playmaker for sure.

  • Great Upload

  • This was dope.

  • You tube is amazing. There are so many videos of Magic and JOrdan in the sam game. Try to find them. All star games are one. And they are fun!! !! !! !! I mean its magic vs jordan. MJ vs MJ !! !! !! !!

  • L.A. was the best team of the decade. Jordan had nobody here. Not scottie, no horace

  • Jordan is the GOAT but Magic, Worthy, and Kareem make for a seriously stacked team. Kudos to the Bulls crowd for showing respect to Kareem the way they did, Kareem was such a phenomenal player and none will ever pull off a hook like he did.

  • @CrazyFoo501 Jordan couldn't dunk on KAreem Finally because Kareem was not Ewing he was better than Jordan. Only the thughs don't notice it.

  • I don't understand the announcer saying that Kareem is the first player to score 36000.... Of course he was, he had been the leading scorer all time the last 4 years.... That was really uncalled for and infact broke some of the Bulls momentum.

  • Notice who MJ is guarding in this video....he took the opponents best players and still put up great numbers.....look at today's best, they won't.... they take the weaker perimeter guy to conserve energy to score

  • @calabis. PT in case look at the 86 Celtics, some think are the "greatest Team Ever", not one guy on that team could run or jump to save their life. Now look at the 96 Bulls (72-10), they were stacked with guys that could get up, that were freakin fast/quick, lengthier, and stronger. 80s had some great athletes but not as much as 90s-present. Plus most of the 80s was filled with drugies in the NBAs and even D Thompson fell into it but at least turned his life around unlike most in 80s NBA.

  • Magic Johnson had 28 points 16 assist and 6 rebounds in this game.

  • I was basically lakers fan because of Magic and Jabbar. Being the Lakers fan is not a reason to deny Michael Jordan being the better player when compare to Magic. Larry Bird is the other prolific player who together with Magic made 80's NBA such a fun to watch. When everything has been said, the summation of how good Jordan is, was capsulized in what these two great players had said. Bird said "that was god disguised as Michael Jordan". Magic said "Michael and then the rest of us".

  • 4:05 amazing!!!

  • People need to stop trying to even put Magic Johnson on Michael Jordan's level. The only thing he shares is jordan's initials. Johnson and Isaiah Thomas basically called jordan god before he even finished his first three-peat, and rightfully so. Oh ya and Larry Bird DID call him god.

  • ooh not really *MJ JAMS IT DOWN*

  • And Im convinced Magic and Bird fans are completely retarded because for one fucking thing you mother fuckers never even saw them play second Magic and Bird had all star fucking teams.. HOF fucking teams for over 90% of their career.

  • @willsmackyoudown Jordan didn't have pippen, horrace grant, dennis rodman, steve kerr(not a superstar but deadly anywhere perimeter), tony kucok, and a host of decent roll players. its a team game bro, you don't go 72-10 without having a one of the greatest teams ever unless you want to say the nba was weak at that point. love of money and not the game is the status quo it seems.

  • look at how shit MJ's team was lolz

  • MikE aNd MaGIc Are BOTh FlaT ouT LegENds.

  • game seemed so hectic

  • i see were lbj gets his movements from magic.and jordan is just a fucking kiler kobe cant get close to this.

  • Thats the diferent between a good player and the best player. When Magic was a rookie he went to the finals and had to play the 5 position and beside he won the mvp award. So dont say young Jordan.

  • this is an excellent video loved it. how bout the class of those fans giving jabar the standing O. You think they would have done that in philly?!?!?!

  • would be higher or lower? Now put MJ on the lakers. Tell him to do nothing but PG. Do you think his assists would be higher or lower? What do you honestly think?

  • @willsmackyoudown - I didn't watch EVERY game, but just a little history lesson: Most LA cable companies here in LA had a channel called WGN. It's the Chicago channel and we got almost as many Bulls games as Laker games.

  • @willsmackyoudown - to answer your question, the answer is HIGHER.

A kid like you simply looking at a stat sheet wouldn't know 2 facts:

    1. The Lakers had Michael Cooper as backup PG. He was capable of going for 10 assist any game, but he had to share with Magic.

    2. From 1980-1983, the Lakers had Norm Nixon. Both would have 10+ assist games every other game. When Nixon left in 84, please LOOK UP what Magic averaged.

The 89 Bulls had no guard with the passing savy of Nixon or Coop.

  • I think half a season with no PG experience whatesover and he still averaged as many triple doubles as magics best season says alot. You might not agree but whatever. Magic to me is not the best PG ever. Magic is one of the best players ever because he could play any position. But please we both know LAs fast break style made those assists happen.

  • @willsmackyoudown - no problem, man. We disagree.

However, you need to keep more of an open mind when arguing about players you never got to see.

For example, you'll NEVER hear me minimize the accomplishments of West, Russell, or Chamberlain. I know that I can look up some stats and watch some YouTube videos, but it will never give me a true witness to their greatness in their respective eras.

You're so convinced, it's blinded you to appreciate some of the other greats.

  • @willsmackyoudown - going back to my previous point of Magic having to SHARE assists, let me ask you a similar question to prove my point:

If Jordan had another high scorer on his team like Domonique Wilkins, don't you think Jordan's point average would go down?

  • Yes his point average would go down but I guarrantee you everything else would have went up assists included. You know why? because MJ is the only NBA player in history that I can think of that worked just as hard on D as he did on Offense. If he wasnt winning scoring titles he would be winning DPOY awards. You misunderstand me. Im not knocking Magic. His versatility is the greatest in NBA history and other than Bird and MJ I would definately want my team to have magic over any other.

  • MJ in half a season at PG did not come close to Magic's best season in APG.

I'm convinced that Jordan fans think MJ shits gold and his tears cure cancer.

  • @HeadlessEye Maybe because Jordan was playing with two second year players and a band of misfits, not with Mchale, Johnson, Parrish HOF's, Kareem, Worthy HOF's....Magic never came close to scoring like MJ or Defense like MJ....next please

  • was to pass? Can he handle being the lead scorer? No that was MJs job. Like i said the stats prove it themselves. MJs stats from playing a half a season was better than Magics best season. You say "why didnt they keep him like that"? DUde I have no idea but obviously it wasnt a bad thing. Once again 32 PPG, 8 RPG, 8 APG. If he kept that up forget about Oscar

  • @willsmackyoudown - you said it yourself -- you're 23 years old (or maybe younger). That means during Jordan's alleged "immortal season" in 1989 (where he didn't even get MVP honors), YOU were only 2 years old! Or maybe not even born!

You're making an argument about a season that you didn't even experience?

Yet, you're so convinced your god Jordan is even a better point guard based on a season you didn't experience?

What's next? "Jordan is a better rebounder than Wilt.."

  • So you watched every single game of MJs 1989 season? Oh wait because you were older then you have some gift where you can read a stat sheet? Please tell me you are not like most LA fans who completely ignore stats. What is your argument that MJ couldnt have been better? I provided my argument. Proof when he did play PG, he put up better numbers. Lets reverse the roles Eddie. Put Magic on the BUlls team without kareem, without worthy without all the other superstars. Do you think his assists

  • 87 finals shot? Thats about it. He was highly overrated... just like most LA stars *cough* KOBE. Magics assist stats were highly overblown due to LAs fast break style of play. Not saying Magic isnt amazing. He is. But Bird was a far better player IMHO. Magic was a better overall player but put MJ on LA and tell him to do nothing but PG and he would average just as many assists

  • @willsmackyoudown - again, you're comparing two different eras of basketball. You KIDS of this generation and the 90's for that matter only define players by sneakers, dunks, and highlights on YouTube.

The 1987 shot is one of many HIGHLIGHTS of Magic's career. Again, you seem to be missing the point: Magic, Bird, and many other legends didn't give a shit about freaking highlights.

There was the newspaper the next day and you either won or lost.

    You will never understand this.

  • I will never understand this? I knew the NBA was being advertised as soon as Magic and Bird hit the floor. Hell that was being set up by the NBA since they were in college. MJ pushed it over the edge yes but dude there was Dr J Bird/magic that kick started the sells. Why was Magic the overall better passer? Because he had a few highlights? A few look away passes? Yes he was a great passer he was 6'9 playing for the best fast break team in the NBA?? Duh? Yes Magic was great but that was his Job

  • It's pointless sometumes talking with the Jordan Jockers.

  • Fusheng please go away. No one wants to hear your crazy theories about shaq being number one of all time. Thank you.

  • LOL.....I have never tried to argue about Shaq being GOAT....I can't even stand the guy. :)

  • Im sorry fusheng thats shaqpopcorns ass that was saying that shit. I apologize.

  • That's about it? Google, "Game 6 1980 NBA Finals". Learn something.

  • Maybe Jordan couldnt have been a better PG. All I know is that the one year he did play half a season as PG. Those were the best stats he ever had.

  • LOL @ "maybe". Old, fat, 37 year-old Magic averaged 7 apg in his comeback (coming off the bench), yet Jordan fans act like averaging 8 apg in 40 minutes of action is the most incredible accomplishment in the history of civilization. Magic's passing ability was superior to Jordan's. He was even a better rebounder too.

  • @HeadlessEye True, some of MJ's fans are like Kobe's superfans. They think that if you believe Jordan didn't have to be the absolute best at every little facet of the game, that you're somehow disrespecting him. He was the best player imo without having to be a better passer than Magic, a better shooter than Bird, a better thief than Alvin Robertson, etc etc.

  • yap, Magic is a great passer, and he is still unique until today, no one can do same thing he did. Bird was a better shooter than MJ, thats true. MJ is a scorer/defender, he can also do what James does today, having all points, rebs, asts, MJ was able to all things, but doesnt mean he's best in all tings

  • His stats in the 80's were mind blowing. Pippen never emerged as superstar until the 90's. I think these MJ performances against stacked superstar teams like the 80's lakers, Celtics and Pistons who are all by the way in the top 5 greatest teams of all time say something about Jordans talent. Especially since his stats were better in the 80's then in the 90's.

  • @willsmackyoudown - who cares about stats? Bottom line is, Jordan was much more EFFICIENT in the 90's. Field goal % may be the same, but you didn't see Jordan going to the rack and trying an impossible shot with a guy wide open underneath like in his early years.

EVERYONE knows Jordan was a much better outside shooter and post-up player in his later years. He instinctively knew where people were in the triangle.

Again, too many YouTube highlights can make you have wrong conclusions.

  • First off Im 23 years old and I watched all of Jordans 96-98 days. Of course he was a better shooter then.. by that time in his game all he did was post up and shoot. That doesnt mean MJ didnt know how to hit shots. In fact he was hitting buzzer beaters like a mad man in the late 80's. You cant hit a clutch jump shot if you are not already a great jump shooter now can you? Hello NCAA championship? 89 playoffs? Any of these ringing bells? Whats Magics highlights?? His one finals game and his

  • Another thing this generation will never understand when comparing all-time legends:

The NBA was not an ESPN Sportcenter highlight fest until later in the 80's.

Before this "highlight reel generation," sports only got a few measly seconds and the coverage was terrible. Only one main thing mattered: WHAT WAS THE FINAL SCORE.

Just imagine who much different Dr. J's career would've been with the marketing of today.

  • So you think those stats. 32.5 PPG, 8 RPG, 8 APG, almost 3 SPG and 1 BPG is worse than Magics stats in 89?? Nah. More like the NBA was still trying to cash out the Bird and Magic Rivalry. Afterall we cant let Magic fall short of MVPs after Bird won 3 in a row could we? Plus everyone was scared MJ would never win a ring. Had he the team in 91 back in 89. They would have slapped that MVP on Jordan faster than you could say fried chicken and they would have forgotten all about Bird and Magic.

  • MJ was Madison Avenue (and the NBA's) dream come true. They had just awarded him the MVP one year earlier. The league didn't want to promote him? Why would they want to continue to milk Bird/Magic, especially in a year when Bird barely played (6 games total)? Astonishingly bad logic. Magic averaged 22.5 ppg, 12/8 apg, 7.9 rpg in 1989 and led the defending champion Lakers to 57 wins. Only Jordan slurpers think he wasn't a worthy MVP.

  • @willsmackyoudown - just curious -- how old are you?

The reason I'm asking is because you seem to be viewing history through the internet's eyes. Looking up stats and watching YouTube uploads is MUCH DIFFERENT than living through the seasons.

Anyone who remembers Jordan's early years remembers many of the ill-advised plays he'd have where he was simply taking the whole team out of rythym.

Jordan had the "same team" in 89? I'm not even going to comment on that.

  • Magics ROOKIE season. Jabbar hurt and unable to play championship game 6 vs Sixers . Magic sits in Jabbars seat on the plane, plays the CENTER position. Shoots skyhooks and scores 42 POINTS (still a record for a rookie) 15 Reb. 7 Assist 3 steals to lead LA to an NBA CHAMPIONSHIP & Playoff MVP! Magic is THE best all around player EVER. Him & Bird humble to say Jordan the best. Magic hurt vs Pistons or would be ANOTHER title. MAGIC revolutionized. 6'9 passing guard and leader from day 1!

  • @klirshead, you obviously know nothing about basketball if you think Magic would outduel Jordan in his prime. Magic is obviously one of the all time greats, but Jordan revolutionized basketball. Also, I believe #23 had six titles compared to five for #32. Michael Jordan = G.O.A.T...period!!! Sorry lakers fans.

  • Magic in his prime vs Jordan in his prime = MAGIC ALL DAY!!

  • Look how lively this crowd is....they don't act like that now.People are too uptight..plenty of haters in the stadium that won't allow them to cheer for someone.I only see lively crowds during the playoffs now. This was a mediocre Bulls team, and look how the crowd goes into a frenzy(ok they were playing the Lakers too)

  • only thing that would have made this video better would have been to get the lakers' broadcast feed with chick hearn!

  • That was Michael Jordan at his best as a scorer.

And Magic Johnson at his best as a scorer too.

    And Kareem being Kareem.

  • Kareem has the best skyhook of all time.

  • i love the title vs young jordan!

  • this was basketball at its best, MAGIC at his best, KAREM with his unbelievable 36,000th points, and talented exciting, and fearless competitor young JORDAN with lots to bring to the league, you could not ask for more and how often did you see 2 superstars guarding each other, JORDAN against MAGIC all the time, playing with everything they got and ultimately bring the excitement to the deserved crowds.

  • first of all for you to say jordan shot like larry bird is rediculous. larry bird won the three point contest three times in a row. jordan shot nothing like larry bird. magic was a ten times better passer than jordan. to say he guarded like stockton is idiotic. he was way better at d than stockton. getting steals doesn't make u a good defender. so i think your intelligence is low. boom outta here!

  • yo jordan is the all time best player

  • Magic Johnson was no where near being half the defensive player that Stockton was. Larry Bird was another player who didnt do defense. Bird and Magic were point guards/point forwards. MJ was a scorer/defender but the one year MJ did play Point he played for a half a season and averaged more triple doubles than Magic Johnsons best season. So MJ could do it all but when you dont have Kareem or Parish/Mchale to start your offense you have to do it yourself

  • @willsmackyoudown - I love it when the MJ worshipers keep referring to his stretch of games when Doug Collins had him play point guard. I'm a Jordan fan, but even I don't go around saying he would been "better than Magic" at playing the point.

If Jordan was so good at playing the point, why did they switch him back? If I remember correctly, Pippen was a better facilitator and all 6 titles didn't have even a quarter of the "could've been best point guard of all time."

  • 89 what did he average? 32.5 points, 8 RPG, 8 APG. Half a season playing PG. So tell me how those stats compare to Magics best season?

  • @willsmackyoudown - Too bad most didn't think 1989 was better than ANY season Magic had like you imply -- Magic was MVP in 89. =)

Look -- Jordan IS the best player of all time HANDS DOWN. It just amuzes me when younger kids who didn't live through the 80's try to re-write history though YouTube.

The reality is, Jordan still had some improving in his own game going on before he could reach the level of Bird or Magic. Jordan's prime in REAL history is in the 90's. Not the 80's...

  • @willsmackyoudown The problem is that Magic didn't need to intentionally go for triple doubles to get them. Jordan was on a streak one year where he would go ask for his stats. Jackson thankfully slapped some corners around his game as he did with Kobe and got them to be championship minded players.

  • @willsmackyoudown. Exactly. The NBA in the 80s was weak defensively until the Bad Boy Pistons came and then the 90s was Golden era of Defense in the NBA. Also, NBA players were not very athletic until 1990, where from 1990-present NBA players are freaks athletically. Other than young MJ, Dominique, and Spud Webb, you did not have great athleticness in the 1980s NBA like you did in 1990-present day.

  • @JZ2001JC Uhh 80's Nique, Drexler, Dr. J, Nance, Jordan, Woolridge(first in between the leg dunk) Harper(prior to knee injury), Kersey, Pippen just to name a few a couple of those are more athletic then 90% of todays league.....Michael Thompson more athletic than any small guard today

  • @calabis. All those guys on your list had their prime/peak yrs in the 90s, so I guess I meant to say guys that played purely in the 80s. Okay I did forget Dr J he was the rare exception with SPud Webb. Michael Thompson----LOL give me a break, he's probably as athletic as Brian Scalebrine.

Oh and one thing on Orlando Woolridge, good thing he did first between leg dunk (which any middle of road athlete can do 90s-today) because the rest of his game sucks.

  • @JZ2001JC LMAO!!!! Its because I was talking about Magic Johnson's teams he had around him on other thread.....David Thompson....wow I fucked the pooch on that one

  • @calabis. Also, maybe with the exception of those 90s guys on your list, players in the 80s couldn't go to their left when dribling (Robert Horry pointed that out after Spurs won the Title in 2007).
