The Tiger 1 is my favourite but the Panther was probably the best overall. It was cheaper and quicker to make, its high velocity 75mm gun was awesome as was its sloped frontal armour.
I see some people here who keep talking up German tanks like they were the greatest etc. Maybe you should read more about what happened when they first came up against the KV-1 and the T-34. Read about the response to the T-34, the German industry contemplated COPYING IT for production. National pride stopped them so they produced a tank with all the innovations of the T-34 and called it the Panther. Unfortunately they failed to copy the ease of production and the reliability.
In addition, while I admit the M3 was not that great by the standards of when it was produced, it had a better gun than the British managed to mount on their tanks and it was good enough to help turn the tide in the desert war. The Sherman was a better design, but still underarmored and undergunned. It won the war by virtue of being easy to manufacture. It took five Shermans to take out a Tiger, but we had the tanks to spare, Germany did not. That's rough on the crews, but since when did
If the Germans had such great tanks .... er maybe they should have won the war .. fact is they got hammered ... country was flattened they were led to distruction by a mad man and they all followed to the bitter end , so time to catch up with the real world guy's tanks are no longer kings of the battle feild , its all air power and shoulder fired missiles .
@bozimo1 i agree with much of that but its not air power, armor, infantry that win wars but rather logistics. The US had a far greater logistic system than the germans by having great cargo planes, trucks, and landing craft. the germans were at the door step of moscow and they couldnt survive the winter because most of their trucks broke down and supply lines were reduced to a trickle. Its a combination of air, land, and sea which the US nearly perfected during ww2
@bozimo1 The germans did produce superior tanks for their time - a 4 year war is far from a landslide victory for russia....should i also point out in stalingrad alone, the russians lost well over 1 million men....the germans some 300,000. civilians around 850,000/ only 1500 after the war ; any city prior to stalingrad, lol, no contest.
russia won because of quantity, which has already been stated - so quit being delusional
@bozimo1 the russians made more tanks, not better tanks, thats why they won. the war was won through quantity of numbers not quality. but the complete opposite seems to have been adopted in todays armies, all of the worlds most advanced armies look for quality not quantity so Germany obviously tought the world something.
Apache long bow ... means the end of tanks.....the T34 was the best tank of WW2... Why because it was mass produced simple and easy to maintain .... a good platform to be up dated and it had sloping armour ... and actually still used today ... thats a fact..
you can not underestaimate the British Mk 1 valentine it was the best tank of ww2.. and lets not forget the Mk 3 lillypant with a 50 mm gun that was dropped from planes for the French resistance
How could I not know what tank you meant? It isn't the panther (left hand side, moving into the frame), or the stationary M-3 (middle of the frame), So it would have to be the tank on the left-hand side moving out of the left-hand side of the frame before the Panther even comes into full view.
the M3s were used alot in Africa
