  • Ok, I found out that I have to hit write after any changes, do you have yours set to automatically take the changes?

  • @jloldc Yes, you have to write all changes for them to stay. When I am editing a patch, I might write a patch 4 or 5 times just so I don't loose any work.

  • I'm having a problem with it not saving the patch changes, I followed your videos and at the end after all the editing if I switch to a 5-1 or another patch then switch back it's wiped when I come back, any ideas?

  • You make my day. Tks alot

  • @imza332003 Great! I'm glad to help.

  • Good

  • @imza332003 Thanks

  • Spent all day doing this (twice)learned a lot. Thanks!!! Q. what kind of guitar speaker do you have there? How does the reso bass sound not blow the speaker like I just did? LOL. Also, how did you learn this patch/stuff? Never in a million would I thought to +50 this -50 that, etc. I would just bypass that resso cause it is too weird. Your demo patch sounds excellent through head phones. Gotta go burry my guitar amp, thanks to reso!

  • @97yawnac Sorry you blew your amp. What kind was it? I play through a Roland KC-500 keyboard amp. It wont blow because it is made for full frequency response.

To learn patch/stuff... first went through the manual. There is way more here than I would figure out on my own. Then I found some sounds I thought were cool and went through all the +50 -50 stuff. I just find some sounds I like and try and tweak them as best as possible. I'm glad it helped you, except for the blown speaker.

  • i have been trying to see the end results but the video stops at 2:26 and will not finish loading can you help...ken

  • @11gpsx5 Sorry, I can't. That must be a youtube problem.

  • This tutorial is great (the 4 parts) Thanks Kennis

  • @anointed01 Thanks.

  • hello, do you know how to set up a different tunning on the gr-55? i am strugling to create a Ukulele sound...

    many thanks!

  • @turenko I don't have my GR-55 in front of me, so I can't remember all the steps to do so. I suggest looking it up in the manual or post a comment on vguitarsforum. com. I'm sure they can help too.

  • Ya tengo mi gr55 y es una maravilla tecnologica.... Gracias por el tutorial ...

  • @luisbachata de nada

  • I've also subscribed to your videos, and I'm even more excited about using this now. Once I figure out how to use my sony digital cam, maybe I can post some stuff, too. I agree with @samandlyn & others that the GR-55 is awesome & has almost limitless potential, although for me, that equals limitless! But now I have a better handle on it and don't feel as overwhelmed. Now I just need to learn to coordinate my feet better while I play! One more time... THANK YOU & GOD BLESS!

  • @TimHallTrbGtr4Jesus I'm really glad my videos were helpful to you and are putting the GR-55 to good use in the Kingdom. We are a Spirit-Filled church too. If I run across any churches in need of a P/W leader I'll let you know. I think that the GR-55 is a true Godsend for P/W that don't have a ton of musicians. The other day we played with just me on the GR-55, a keys player, and bass player. It sounded like we had twice the musicians. I totally love it! Let me know if you have any ?'s

  • The effects parameter settings helped out, too, as I don't have much time & am not a real effects junkie/guru. The chromatic setting 4 the PCM detail edit level was VERY helpful. I created some really nice patches w/piano, 12-string gtr & strings, but had avoided some of the synth pads due to the wabbly/unstable sounds I was getting. So now that I can correct for that, I'm stoked! If you know any spirit-filled churches looking for a worship leader, let me know... Again, thanks & God bless!

  • Hi Kennis! God bless you, man! I've been playing with my GR-55 for a while & also do worship music (but not F/T). I lead for small groups & some other local venues (I play at the gospel mission), & usually play by myself, so having this unit really enhances the experience! I have a R-Strat, so I made the modeled tone an acoustic guitar & then set the amp & expr-pedal to my normal guitar pickup to get the same effect. I use my GK volume the same way you do. Write more in a sec.. space limits!

  • Hi Kennis,

After looking at all your videos on the GR55, I now know there really is a 'GOD', Keep up the great work and please post everything, you have sorted out on the GR55.

'May the force be with you"

    philangalee

  • @philangalee Thanks man, I appreciate that a lot. I'm a worship leader at church and I can say that this thing really is a "God Send".

  • Waste of videos showing what i can get on any other guitar effect. You should show the other patches not the guitar ones. You defeating the whole purpose of having a syth emulator

  • @reygalindo I have a bunch of videos on my channel that highlight the specific sounds on the GR-55. These Edit Tutorial videos are to just show how to edit a patch, not so much highlight specific sounds. I made these tutorials because some people had asked how to edit the GR-55. I know it does a lot of what other units can do and far as effect units, but I some want to see how the unit works in a real setting, so I made it upon request. Ffeel free to check out my channel for Synth sounds videos.

  • Hi Kennis,

Got the GR55 , and only after I watched your videos esp. these 4 do I realize the limitless potential of this thing. Thank you so much for your videos , as the manual is not much help at all. You rock man, god bless you.

  • @samandlyn Wow, what a great compliment! Thanks, I'm glad they helped you.

  • awesome videos!!!!

I am having a really difficult time just getting the best setup, there are so many parameters to deal with,I just can't get the pcm sounds to not trigger false notes & glitches, any suggestions just even a starting point ?

    Thanks, laser1921

  • @laser1921 1st, I would go through my Edit Tutorial vidoes step by step. Try and recreate the patch I made. Even if you never use it, it will help you make your own as you learn it. 2nd, False triggers, make sure to turn ON chromatic on all PCM sounds (See Edit Tutorial Part 1). Also, if you are using the GK-3, make sure and set it up with the manual step by step. Adjust sensitivity, guitar scale, ect... Also, make sure the GK-3 pickup is close to the strings, the closer the better.

  • Ken, quick question. How do you route the outputs? You not using the guitar out because it's dry.

  • @bri2ubri2u All sound are going out via (left output). I have not gotten around to running stereo to two amp or anything like that yet. I hope that answers your quesion.

  • I have GK3B on my Roscoe 6'er. There are a couple things that work well however the jury is still out for bass on this thing. There are thousands of tweaks to do as per your videos however for guitar this is very good, no so for bass guitar.

  • @spectorman09 That's not good. I wish I had a GK-3B to test my bass out on. I hope to get one soon. I'm surprised cause the GK-3 seems to work well for most. If I ever get the GK-3B I'll probably post a review of it. Anyway, thanks for the post.

  • Great tutorials. Being a bass player with a GR 55 the things I can do with it so far are limited being there are NO bass tutorials. Editing would be the same as the guitar mode however our tracking is not as fast as I would like. Is there anything video wise like your tutorials for 5 and 6 string bass?

  • @spectorman09 NO videos that I know of. That's weird that the tracking is not as fast as guitar mode. Are you playing a bass guitar or a regular guitar with the GK-3 pickup? Someday I want to get a GK-3B pickup. If I do, I'll post videos of bass mode.

  • could you post a video reguarding the pedal dealing with the 4 choices for the hold feature manual not very clear at least not to me.

    cheers tony

  • @9876902 Believe it or not, I have not even used that function yet. I'll look into it. Also, check out this site vguitarforums . com. They are a great resource for any questions you might have. I bet there is a thread on there that may be able to explain the Hold feature. Anyway, I'll look into it though.

  • Unbelievable!!!!! You have helped me immensely . I am going to contact Roland US to see if they will post these directly on their site. Your videos are far better than the current pitch style videos they have posted. Superb video quality, highly informative and well thought out. You are true teacher. Thank you Kennis!!!!

  • @jyates1964 Wow, Thanks! I have always liked Roland/Boss products. They consistantly make good ones. I alway like to do a ton of research before I buy something. And I know it's hard even when somone gets a unit like this to navigate it. So I'm happy to help in any way I can with other peoples research and help them figure out the unit at the same time. I appreciate your encouragement. You are very welcome!

  • I'm praying that Roland will call you an give you the job to review there products you did a magnificent job. yours is the best i ever watch. keep doing your ting. God bless.

  • Hi Kennis, great tutorials as always, thanks for all your time, effort and enthusiasm. I copied your patch edit tutorial, with slight variation as I don't have piezo pickups I used the 'model' to create an acoustic tone, and my real pickups for the electric tone, adjusting the 'structure' routing' accordingly. Problem is whatever patch I write I find all 4 patch components switched off so I can't do a quick change between my patches with the pedals. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rob

  • @robartosan Did you wipe the patch clean (initialize it) before you started? At first I had a small issue when I just modified an existing patch, not all the instrument would be enabled when I switched to it, but if I initialize it and start from scratch, I have not had that problem. Let me know.

  • As all of the films, great job, Kennis!

  • @macksmackan Thanks, I appreciate that a lot!

  • Hi Kennis, Excellent work.. (as always). I've thoroughly enjoyed all 4 parts of this really informative tutorial, everything was very clear and the video resolution is of pin sharp quality so the gr55 screens are totally readable. Superbly filmed work. Thank you!

  • @yellowsub1967 I agree!!! Good job Kennis! :-D

  • @Tomurow Thanks.

  • @yellowsub1967 Thanks, I have been blessed to use a great video camera (Canon XH A1). Thanks again.

  • Thank you! Sounds very good!

  • @kreschdruppreschd Thanks, I appreciate it.
