  • I had this camera guys, and trust me, this thing breaks SO easily, the quality really isn't that great, its really grainy, and the zoom on it isn't all that great. I really do NOT suggest getting this camera.

  • @CamOfficialMusic Thanks for your valid comment. This camera was introduced to the market three years ago. It stands to reason that there are much higher quality, economical and better constructed cameras on the market today.

  • @dmacdonald001 you're welcome. personally, i think i should of spent 300 dollars on something else. its an okay camera for family photos or something, but not professional use.

  • @CamOfficialMusic

so please can u suggest a best point and shoot camera whose night result and image in not noisy at dark and picture/video quality is also good. but should be economical

  • @wickybabu I have the Canon SX40HS right now, and I must tell you, I LOVE it. It's a little bit more than the SD780. The SD780 ranged around 300-380, and the SX40 is around 400. So for a little bit more, you get a WAY better camera. I HIGHLY suggest it.

  • @CamOfficialMusic

    thanks for ur suggestion....

but there's a problem,.. my budget is low so i decided to go for Canon ELPH 300 HS.......

honestly, what you say about this camera...... coz after spending almost a week,... this is the only one which is affordable with some good quality.... but i would really like ur opinion coz i haven't paid for it yet

  • @CamOfficialMusic

and also..... i would like to know from u.... if u know any other nice camera like elph 300 hs which is budget friendly........, elph 300 is ranging about $160-$170

  • omg my friends and i made a parody of something and we used this pastel slide music haha

  • this is the camera tht u should need ;) thumbsup i guess there is used stand ;)

  • This video is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.

  • What country and what city was that shot in?!

  • How did you import the video on to your computer and then into imovie keeping the HD quality. I can't figure it out and my videos while using this camera look "grain-ee"

  • @labeautechic I imported the video from the camera to iPhoto, then into iMovie. Make sure that your iMovie project is set up as HD. Also, if you shoot in low light you will end up with a very grainy video. Try shooting outdoors, with a tripod.

  • @dmacdonald001 Thank you! :)

  • whoa. your sunset is at 8:45 PM? i am not used to that. our sun set is like 5:45 PM . amazing:)

  • @mmKaeCakes The time of sunset depends on what time of the year it is. The sun sets a little after 5 PM in December, and close to 10 PM in June.

  • this is a really relaxing video. love the music! and i'm about to buy this camera soon :)

  • '

    wow very pretty video,,,

    how about canon SD880

  • @bestamerica I have never used the SD880. Sorry, don't know much about it.

  • Awesome quality

  • Hey I have this same camera but how do I get 720p HD. Only when I import the clip straight to YouTube, it gives me HD. What I want to know his, how can I edit my videos in movie maker, and still have it in HD, when I put it up on YouTube?

  • @Ompmovies You can only edit, and output HD movies if the program you are using supports HD video. Also, the program needs to support the HD format specific to your camera. I hope that helps!

  • @dmacdonald001 Does Sony Vegas Pro support HD, if I get it will I be able to edit and output my videos in HD. When I take the SD card out of the camera, and put it in my laptop. The video is a .MOV file when I see it in the SD card. I know that .MOV is for Mac computers, with programs like iMovie, so you edit it and still have HD, but I have a PC. So would it work If I edit my video thru Sony Vegas, and Save it , and upload it to YouTube?

  • @Ompmovies yeah lol

  • @Ompmovies

You need to download some files into the Movie Maker folder, it's hard to explain for me, but do a Youtube search on: Windows Movie Maker HD

Or how to make HD video's in Windows Movie Maker or anything like that.

Sometimes, you don't even have to download anything.

  • Man, that's gorgeous!

  • @Konnayaha Thanks for your comment. Glad you liked the video!

  • this is exactly why i bought this camera

  • this camera works great for me!

  • I am very interested in getting this camera, but I heard when it is in video mode, there is a slight buzzing sound. I was wondering if you knew anything about it, or heard it when editing the video. Thank you.

  • Name of track/artist?

  • @CheapHomeFilms The name of the music track is Pastel Slide Long. It is one of the sounds that comes with Apple iLife 06 in the Jingles sound folder. Hope that helps! Thanks for commenting.

  • @dmacdonald001 Thank you

  • How do we get rid of those blue streak lines? I get them in my videos too when I record a light.

  • @digitalimpulse can't ;)

  • I put music to it because the outdoor sound is crap. Especially when recording near the water where there is always wind. Plus, mixing video with different sound sources can be a challenge as well. Truth is, don't expect a lot from the audio recordings on this $199 pocket camera.

  • i think u shouldnt have put music on this.. that way we could get an understanding of how well sounds record also.. but the video quality is really good. NICE VIDEO dude!

  • I'm looking for a good camera that can take pretty good pictures but also take good video. I have a question though.

    - When it records does it record audio?

  • Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada

  • very nice where about was this shot ?

  • Hi , My name is Tarek

Recently i've got Canon Ixus 100 IS

when i record in HD the final out but is really grainy and some times it is watery

i dont know how to adjust the video settings ,,,please tell me ,,,i saw your video :) , and i want to get my output ,in high quality like yours

  • when you edited the video the clarity of video faded.... its to blur...

  • Whats the name of this song it's so awesome if you made it can i have a copy of it?

  • I don't see what's so hard about installing the mechanics needed for a camera to have a zoom capability while recording. -_-

  • OMG! My favorite part of this video is the Sunset it's so beautiful!I almost started tearing up I'm serious about this.

  • lol at the guy at 0:40 he's like "wtf?"

  • does this camera zoom while recording?

  • I don't believe that it does. However, you can zoom... then record, but not while recording. Perhaps a future firmware update from Canon will make this a reality. Who knows! Thanks for the comment!

  • @dmacdonald001

    Yes it does :D

  • If you Go Into The Main Menu, You Can Enable Digital Zoom.

  • @trissBarrelRacingINC yes but not optical zoom

  • urs in low light (i have the same model) has less grain and noise then mine.......???

  • hey i got the canon sd780 is and i recorder some footage at night and it looks choppy why is that?

  • maybe auto slow shutter?

  • your computer probably can't handle the HD 30 fps. if your computer is more than 4 years old, then that's probably the reason why.

  • Just got the latest version of this model. The Canon Sd 1400is. It's amazing

  • Hey thanks for uploading this video, it really helped me decide on getting this camera

  • nice video i am planing on getting this

  • mine in low light is horrible!

  • I just got this camera and I was wondering, how do you put it in "HD" mode or how you make it film on maximum quality.

    Again amazing video!

  • Did you make this song? I like it a lot, and the video's great too!

  • Thanks for the feedback. No, I didn't write the song. It's one of the music tracks provided in Apple's iMovie 08 HD.

  • Beautifully made!

  • Thanks!

  • Hello everyone, and thank you for all the traffic and great comments and emails about this video!

I get so many comments and email about this test video that I am going to do my best to post a tutorial about my process. If all goes well, I will post it this weekend. Keep an eye out for it. Cheers!

  • @dmacdonald001 i have a 8 gig memory card and my footage isnt as clear as this. wondering what im doing wrong i have the same camera with more memory lol

  • Memory capacity has nothing to do with quality. What sort of lighting conditions are you shooting in?

  • oh i know i was just saying that a bigger memory card gives you the option to shoot better quality and longer videos with the 1280 ya know? its normal light. its just a lil bit grainy not as clear as yours. are your settings 1280?

  • Yes, video was shot at 1280.

  • i have this same camera and i'm still getting use to it. how do you get your video so clear? like.. your settings. and what size is your memory card? thank you!

  • The camera has a 4 GB memory card in it.

I get so many comments and email about this test video that I am going to do my best to post a tutorial about my process. If all goes well, I will post it this weekend. Keep an eye out for it. Cheers!

  • Hi is this on Seattle?

  • No, this is Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

  • Nice video. Thanks for using a tripod. Most handheld videos look bad because of camera shake.Remember, when you press the shutter, it lock-in focus and exposure, that it why you can't zoom with it. Will be getting this one for the wife soon. Your video is one of the best one on Youtube. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the comment. It's amazing how simple a still video can make a video look better. As a tip to everyone... I didn't use a tripod in any of these clips. I just found an object in the environment to place the camera on. Again, this is an advantage of using a small camera like the Canon SD780.

  • i mean...purple rays.

  • Yeah, the camera had trouble dealing with bright light changes when shooting in low and dim light. You can see this in this sample video. I assume it happens because of the small CCD, and the small, cheap, lens opening.

  • does this camera have the purple lights, when it is near bright lights?

  • Hey, I purchased this camera today since I loved the quality of your videos but I went to use imovie and it doesn't recognize it....how do u edit or even upload it into your macbook ? I have a macbook pro imovie09 THANK

  • naty,

The files will be captured directly into iPhoto. When you open iMovie, you will be asked to allow it to create thumbnails of these files, then you will see them in the "Event Library" on the bottom right side of iMovie. They will be called iPhoto videos.

  • Hi - I connected the camera to my mac, and downloaded the photos and movies using iPhoto. Then, I would simply drag the movie clips I wanted to edit from iPhoto, into iMovie. I had no trouble at all... and never had with Canon products. Hope that works for you!

  • just a random question, are there different kinds of memory cards for this camera to the make the video quality look more crispy and clear?

  • Honestly, I don't know. However, because the information is stored digitally, I wouldn't think that the card would have an effect on the quality. Digital records or it does not, it does not degrade like an analogue magnetic signal would.

  • @dmacdonald001 OK, thank you

  • What song is this?

  • I don't know the exact name, but it is one of the tracks that comes with Apple iMovie HD.

  • did you upload it to youtube without doing anything it to it? like no converting the video or anything?

  • I edited the movie in iMovie, then uploaded the H.264 Quicktime movie to YouTube.

  • Great video! I really like the angles you used. I'd recomend using an additional song, just having the one seemed a little repetitive.

  • Great video!

  • thank you so much for the sample videos

  • I want this camera now! :)

  • i know you do, hi mitchell (:

  • Its so hella clear!

  • i have this cam and i am shooting in HD settings but when i upload its only HQ do you know what my problem might be? i Also am editing in windows movie maker if that could possibly have something to do with it.

  • I am going to assume that the issue is Windows Movie Maker. I am not sure that is is able to handle video at a large HD resolution.

  • WOOT MACS RULE!!!!!

and do u have an iChat??

  • Hi...What is the name of the background music/song?

  • Hey, the background music is just one of the default tracks available in iMovie 08.

  • Ok... Thanks. I thought the name was listed. Nice Video

  • correction, mine was actually defective. those lines there appear to be from the light.

  • What are the vertical lines up the screen? I hate these!

  • i got vertical lines on my pics and video and sent it back immediately. havent gotten the replacement yet. i didn't know they were so common tho.

  • how do u put it so that it will be hd i have it but idk how and wat to u use to edit pkeasse replay

  • The HD setting is the setting that controls the video size. I think 1280 (HD) and 640 are the two video sizes on that camera. Set it to the largest one for HD video.

  • o thank you and also casuei know wene it on the hd on the video it has like the black frame around the video do u know how to take it off :)

  • That depends on the aspect ratio that you use when you edit the video. Or, the aspect ratio of the screen you playback the video on.

  • It's pretty noisy (image) but it's quite a bit better than my SD1000. I wouldn't even think of watching it full screen on my 15' laptop. With this I would (and did :) ).

  • I ordered this camera and I'm super hyped to get it! Let's see how it works out :D I currently have a Sony and I really like it, but it's too big and clunky, I saw this canon and I just had to have it (not to mention it has more megapixels than my current camera).

  • nice!!! i am trying to decide on wether to get this camera or the sony cybershot dsc-h20.... any opinions??

  • Fantastic, I have an SD780 and I haven't put the HD recording into good use yet, but I think this video has inspired me to.

  • on the first vid and the sunset vid, are those lines from the camera? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

  • In low light, the camera makes streaks from bright light sources. Over all I would call this a bad thing, but something you would have to live with considering the price point, and lens size/quality of this small camera.

Someone else may be able to explain why this happens, but I assume it's a combination of small lens, and small/consumer level image sensor.

  • I have this camera and I actually find it to be quite annoying...

  • I can't wait to get mine! I read reviews on the noise you get during silent filming.... chances are the videos will be filled with noise from my subjects and if I shoot any quiet scenes, I will most likely throw in some music anyway. I am also getting a MacBook Pro to edit! Thanks for this video, it really shows of the camera's great video quality!

  • WOW! This camera is amazing! I'm convincing my cousin to get this camera tomorrow! Thanks for the evidence of it's amazing quality!

  • What kind of editing did you do with iMovie? I just got this camera two days ago, and I also have a Mac, so I was just curious..

  • The only editing done in iMovie are the cuts (dissolves) and adding the music track. Other than that, its the video off the camera.

  • nice video, can't wait to get this camera : )

  • Was looking at this model in store, the model does feel pretty cheap and the buttons are quite hard to reach, like when switching to video mode. Whats your experience with this camera? Image quality is obviously very good but the model itself doesn't feel right.

  • It is what I would expect from a $250 camera with all those features. It is very small, so it will be awkward for large hands.

  • Not a fake. This video was shot with the Canon SD780.

  • Is that the halifax metro transit haha?

  • Yes, it is.

  • Nice, small world eh.

  • Nice demo. The video from such a small camera still l amazes me. Will post a review and sample images and videos soon as well.

  • This video is immensely useful. I was about to buy another camera but fell in love with this one at the store. Have been researching it online since and may well pick it up this evening after seeing the quality of the video in low light. Thanks!

  • Yeah, that's what time it was. I don't know if it's official sunset, but that's sunset time for May here in eastern Canada. What time is sunset where you are?

  • sunset: 8:45PM????
